Salt City Candles are well known for their beautiful range of fragranced, scented candles which are the perfect way to fragrance your home.
A Salt City Candle is so beautifully designed and presented that it will make a perfect gift.
Today, I am introducing the Holiday Collection with seasonal scents for all year round as well as festive giving (and keeping).
A great way to buy these (and save money as well as having them delivered right to your door), is to buy them online.
You can view the whole range here at Amazon - this link will take you to the product pages where there are sixty different fragrances to choose from, including those in the Holiday Collection.
Salt City Candle fragrances are formulated from a mixture of natural and created oils. Natural oils are chosen for the effects they have on our well-being, man-made oils because they can be formulated based on natural oils to give a huge choice of fragrances that cost less. In this way, Salt City produce beautiful scented jar candles and other gorgeous scented candles that are affordable and combine the best elements of both.
Candles are generally made of paraffin wax, beeswax, soy wax or any combination of these waxes. Harder waxes have some advantages in that the candle burns for longer but it is not so suitable for scented candles because it cannot hold a high percentage of fragrance oil. So, harder waxes will only produce a very lightly scented candle.
Softer waxes produce a candle that can hold a higher percentage of fragrance but as they burn so quickly, tunnel down the centre of the candle and are expensive to produce, they are not really suitable either.
Salt City Candles are usually made of a combination of refined paraffin oils and soy oil which produces a candle that can hold a high percentage of fragrance and disperse this into the room as it burns. The combination also produces a candle which is long lasting and therefore excellent value for money.
Choice of wick is crucial to how your candle will burn. The heavier the wick, the more rapidly your candle will burn and the more soot and smoke it will produce. By contrast, the lighter the wick, the more likely your candle is to go out because the candle will tunnel and then extinguish itself because it is unable to heat the wax evenly. All Salt City Candles have a wick with a zinc core which combines minimum production of soot and smoke with even burning.
Gingerbread Spice Candles
What could be nicer, or more evocative of the festive season than the smell of gingerbread being baked. Gingerbread is a really traditional holiday aroma and these Gingerbread candles mix spicy ginger with cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla – enough to make your mouth water!
The glass for Salt City Candles is almost all made in the USA and specially designed to withstand high temperatures. However the advice from the manufacturers is that if the candle is allowed to burn too low, there is a possibility that the glass could crack by coming into direct contact with the candle flame and so once the candle has burned down to only half an inch of wax left in the jar, it should be discarded. This is also important to remember because the surface the candle is standing on could also be damaged by the heat.

How to Care for Your Candle
• Always ensure that your candle is placed on a heat resistant surface where it cannot be knocked over.
• Always keep the wick trimmed to a quarter of an inch. This will ensure that your candle burns evenly, produces the minimum amount of smoke and does not drip.
• The Best way to extinguish your candle is by using a candle snuffer or wick dipper. Blowing a candle out causes excess smoke and is not recommended.
• Your candle will last longer if you burn it for longer periods (around 3 – 4 hours at a time is recommended).
• Placing a lighted candle away from any source of draft will promote even burning and minimise smoke. .
• If you are using more than one candle, place these at least three inches apart. This ensures that they burn well and do not melt each other.
• Coloured candles can fade in direct sunlight or bright light so they are best kept in a less brightly lit part of the room when not in use.
Apple Cinnamon Candles
Salt City Apple Cinnamon candles have a scent that will remind you of your mum baking apple pie in the kitchen or mulled wine or cider on a winter’s day. The delicious scents of apple and cinnamon mingle with warming and soothing eucalyptus. Perfect to welcome guests in out of the cold or to give as a Christmas Gift.
How to Safely Use Your Candle
Make sure that your candles are always placed on a non-flammable surface where they cannot be knocked over and well away from anything that could catch fire. Ensure good ventilation but avoid drafts. Never leave a candle burning in a room unless the room is occupied and always remember to extinguish the flame before going out or going to bed and if possible, use a candle snuffer rather than blowing out the candle. You should never use water to put out a candle, especially one in a glass container as the water could crack the glass. Ensure that candles are always out of the reach of children and pets. When the candle has been extinguished, do not move it until the melted wax has solidified again.

katiem2, I love candles too and with so many different brands on the market, with Habee saying about her friend really loving them, I always feel much more confident to try something new when I have a personal recommendation.
