Best and Famous Irish Actors and Actresses

Best and Famous Irish Actors and Actresses

In this hub, I will feature the best and famous Irish actors and actresses living and dead who are best and famous in film as well as the theaters. Notable is Richard Harris who was a multi talented persona -- actor, singer, writer and film director. I remember him as the Albus Dumbledore in the movie "The Harry Potter" and the Emperor Marcus Aurelius in the movie "Gladiator". Another brilliant actor is one of my favorite of all time -- Daniel Day- Lewis. Others who shine in their own right are: Liam Nesson, Pierce Brosnan and Collin Farrell. Actually there are many talented Irish actors and actresses, and the list could go on and on.

Like Wales, Ireland is home to the best actors in the film industry. Notable is the dynasty (theatrical dynasty) of the CUSACK family-- Cyril, Catherine, Sorcha, Niam and Sinead.

On March 17 and every year thereof Irish people pay tribute to the most commonly recognised Saint in Ireland--- - St. Patrick. St Patrick's day is is celebrated with festivities all around the world and of course the biggest celebration is in Ireland. Ireland is a republic and is a country in northwestern Europe -- a member of the European Union. Their form of government is parliamentary democracy and is bordered to the northeast by Northern Ireland -- a part of the UK and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.-- particularly the IRISH sea to the east and the St Georges Channel to the southeast and the Celtics seas to the south. It was once a part of the UK but they gained their independence.

I never knew Pierce Brosnan was Irish but thanks for the information, I can't wait to use this data :)

Mike Lickteig from Lawrence KS USA on February 24, 2010:

I had no idea all these actors were Irish.

For years after Richard Harris performed in Camelot, he reprised the role for the theater and toured the United States. I got to see him perform as King Arthur live in 1984 or 1985, and even though he was a bit older, he still brought the same vitality and emotional depth to the role that he gave it in the movies.

I am a fan of many of these fine actors and actresses, but I wanted to pay a special tribute to Richard Harris.

Thanks, Maita! This was great!

Mike

BkCreative from Brooklyn, New York City on February 22, 2010:

Well, I am a big, big fan of Cilian Murphy because I saw him in "Red Eye" - whew! some actors can truly get into their roles - what perfect casting. For instance there is no possible way I can like him as a human being - but then I have to remember that was just a role.

I've had a lot of fun when I hung out in both Dublin and Belfast - you just kind of find yourself 'liking' everybody.

Thanks for this hub Maita!

RevLady from Lantana, Florida on February 22, 2010:

Two Thumbs up! I do not know if I said this before, but I love the Irish and their culture, including actors and actresses. I particularly enjoy listening to the rhythm of their accent.

It was relaxing for me to review this hub and read about one of my favorites, Richard Harris who has brought me much joy in the variety of roles he has starred in.

Thank you Maita for enhancing my "coffee break" time.

dohn121 from Hudson Valley, New York on February 22, 2010:

Another wonderful and well-researched hub to compliment your other British hub on actors and actresses Maita. Very well done. Richard Harris is one of my favorites.
