Kuwahara's Pumpkin Patch

My weekend fall continues with a fun activity to do in October. What else? Pumpkin Patch!

We went to Kuwahara's Pumpkin Patch on Sunday morning. It wasn't part of the plan, as we were relaxing at home. While browsing through my phone, I saw a new place to go for a pumpkin patch. I asked my husband if he wanted to go, and he agreed. We arrived at the location at 9 a.m, and we saw a lot of cars have parked in the parking area. I guess people came here early than us.

It is one of the best pumpkin patches I've been to. The main area is covered with deep golden-orange with different sizes-small, medium, and large pumpkins. It's almost like an ocean of pumpkins on the ground. By the way, I was amazed by how beautifully pumpkins they used to showcase on the wall as decorations.

My Favorite Pumpkin

Pumpkin autumn gold is my favorite type of pumpkin. It is a unique pumpkin that turns golden weeks before other pumpkins, even when immature. It is not just perfect for carving but, also for making pies. Yum!

The Best in Utah

The Kuwahara's Pumpkin Patch is open seven days a week, including Sunday and their business is scheduled to open till the 30th. There is an entrance fee of $5 however, from Monday till Thursday, it goes towards your overall pumpkin purchases. In case you're wondering, pumpkins are sold by the pound, although we decided to get just one, it is quite huge (refer to photo below). It cost us about $25 for that pumpkin.

Note: If you're coming after 6 p.m, you will witness a new attraction to the park which is a thriller park. It is a Halloween village where nightly performances, carnival games, a haunted house, bounce houses, and Renaissance nights are available for fun and games. If you like to be scared, I recommended it!

If you're looking for a large-size pumpkin, I guarantee you can find it here.

What's Your Favorite Halloween Routine?

I bet everyone agrees that Halloween is one of the most exciting parts of the fall season. Decorating, drinking pumpkin spice latte, watching scary movies, and trick-or-treating are all quintessential Halloween activities, but almost all absolute favorite tradition has got to be pumpkin carving. Nothing beats hitting the pumpkin patch on a misty morning and picking out some plump gourds to turn into jack-o-lanterns.

Pumpkin Carving Tips

  • Did you know larger pumpkins are easier to carve? If you have young children, encourage them to choose a big pumpkin.
  • Save the seeds you pull out of the insides of the pumpkins and roast them in the oven. Save the roasted seeds in a jar and use them to garnish seasonal salads. Yum!
  • If you don't want to use real candles in your jack-o-lanterns for safety reasons, you can bunch up Christmas string lights put them inside your carved pumpkin to illuminate its ghoulish grin.

The Tool Kit

Pumpkin-carving is likely already a part of your autumn routine, but if it's not, give it a try! You'll be glad you did. However, to make your pumpkin carving easier, you will need the tool kit set. Let me show you how the tool kit functions.

  1. A fleshing tool- clean out your pumpkin with this scraper, which scoops seeds and helps thin and smooth walls.
  2. Awl- Use this needlepoint tool to trace templates onto your pumpkin by perforating along lines.
  3. Keyhole saw- Make large cuts, like holes in the back of pumpkins or carved eyes and mouths.
  4. Fine-tooth saw- After using the keyhole saw, carve smaller details and clean up edges with this tool.

I have yet to carve the pumpkin, but, I'm excited to do it. We had a fun time at Kuwahara's during the day, perhaps, it would be more fun to visit at night time for the thriller and games. Thanks for reading!

The tradition of the pumpkin patch and handing out candy to the children during Halloween is fun! Personally, I like doing both, however, my favorite is watching horror movies during the week.

We had a fun time at the park, I've seen a lot of people come to enjoy the beautiful day while pumpkin patch with their family. I still have to carve the pumpkin we bought :)

Thanks for reading, Maria.

What a fun day. Now that our girls are all grown up, we don't have any Halloween traditions except for handing out candy to the neighborhood children. I enjoyed all the great photos you used in this article. The wall decorations on the buildings were especially cute. Thanks for sharing your fun outing with us.

Yes, it is Denise. Everyone should pay a visit to a local pumpkin patch. I think it's a great way to support the local farmers with their businesses.

We will carve the pumpkin we bought later this week. Oh, and I am planning to make a bundt pumpkin cake soon! Thanks for reading, Denise. Blessings to you.

It was my first time there as we prefer going to the one that is nearest to our house. However, I'm glad that I found a new pumpkin patch. The Kuwahara's is bigger and more fun! Thanks for reading, Chitrangada.

Yes! I think the pumpkin patch is one of the best activities during the autumn season. It's not necessary for the Halloween celebration but, it's a great activity to do with family and kids.

This looks like a terrific pumpkin patch. I think I may have to visit our local one now, just for fun. I don't carve pumpkins anymore but a great pumpkin for pie and bread sounds yummy. Thanks.

Blessings,

Denise

You're most welcome. I couldn't agree more, Pamela. Autumn gold is like the best pumpkin ever! However, I'm sure many people have their favorites as well. The pumpkin patch was awesome! A lot of people showed up at the park, and everyone seems had a great time. Thank you so much for reading.
