Falling in Love With America; Over and Over Again

God Bless America, Land that I Love, Stand beside her and guide her, thru the night, with a Light from above...

Saluting America

Saluting America

Falling in love with America...again!

How wonderful it is to celebrate the United States of America on her birthday, our Independence Day!

It begins with a patriotic parade.

We take one in every year, in a neighboring town, which can definitely be described as, Small Town U.S.A.

Marching bands, patriotic floats, tall men in tiny little cars, firetrucks, vintage cars, monster trucks, a lot of horses, both massive and miniature...and on and on it goes...

with flyovers of vintage aircraft, everyone attempting to get the pictures that will do these magnificent flying machines which have withstood the test of time, justice!

Hanging out with dear friends. Old friends and old neighbors yelling across the street at each other, "how has life been treating you", 'when did your kids get so big" is truly food for the soul and dessert for the heart and mind...and I adore all of it!

The last parade attended {before Covid hit} was one of the largest that I can remember.

When the parade had ended, I was making my way out to the one major road in the area, only to be stopped for a crossing...a very large and long crossing!

But, this crossing was one I had no problem waiting for:

The back up, the traffic jam, the standstill... that I found myself in, was due to the mass exodus of parade attendees; both teenagers and the not so very young, in decorated, patriotic golf carts.

Families, so many families traveling by foot instead of car, pulling little red wagons or pushing strollers, loaded up with toddlers and/or the family dog, all decked out in flags, lots of red, white and blue and still full of Spirit.

The tiny tots riding in those wagons and strollers, waving tiny little American flags and even though it was so brutally hot...were still smiling {maybe it was because they were on sugar highs from all of the sweets consumed throughout the morning} but I think they were just excited about attending a birthday party like none other!

These young children were experiencing something comparable to what I had experienced for the first time, a long, long time ago...the experience of falling in love with America!

I fall in love with America all over again, every single Independence Day!

An American Prayer

America the Beautiful

The long magnificent crossing did end and I finally made my way home, to prepare for company.

The great day continued; a good old-fashioned movie, which never goes out of style in my opinion.

The one watched this particular Independence Day was all about John Paul Jones.

*Okay kids, what is John Paul Jones most famous quote?

Play time with the grand babies, great grilled food, desserts, all ending at our local mall, with a fireworks display -

Ahhhh....what a day, but it wasn’t over quite yet!

I checked to see if I had managed to record the big show in Washington D.C.; President Trump's speech, the flyovers, all of the patriotic sights accompanied by all of the patriotic sounds and the spectacle of it all, which had taken place earlier in our Nation’s Capital.

I did!

I wasn’t sure what to expect because only days before, while trying to find information on it, which I could share with my friends and family, I had only managed to find negativity at every turn.

Things such as; "it would only be about Trump, Trump would be tooting his own horn, America would be exploited, Americans would be exploited, the spectacle would cost a fortune"....

and on and on it went (you know how it always is, with Trump in office)

Everything under the sun goes, with the exception of good information or positive messaging.

Why do they work so hard at dispiriting us?

But, by the end of his speech, all that I had heard from President Trump was all about this extraordinarily resilient, magnificent Nation.

A Nation like no other in existence today, because:

  • We dared/we dare, to be different
  • We dared to fight tyranny and we won our freedom, in order to become the special place that we are today
  • We dared to fight tyranny here on our soil, but we didn’t stop there, we fought it/we fight it, whenever, wherever, tyranny gains a stronghold

Along with our many allies, we have pushed back the forces of evil and we have done that time and time again!

God Bless America

President Trump didn’t just brag on this Country on her birthday, (incidentally, we should all be bragged on, on our birthday) he bragged on the men and women of all branches of our military and with each branch spoken of, a flyover of aircraft representative of that particular branch.

I was in awe, in my home, watching it on the television!

I could not fathom the feelings and emotions experienced by those that were actually there, at the National Mall.

With each flyover, ending with a performance by the Blue had to have taken their breath away!

In other words, it was nothing like what this Nation was conditioned to think it would be like, only days before... when I had searched in vain, for good information and positive messaging to share.

How many people were turned off to the ‘Salute to America’, before it even had a chance to begin?

How many, out of pure hate and ignorance, believe to this day, that it was all about President Trump, when it wasn’t in the least?

But because they chose to tune out or were talked into tuning it out by the most hateful and blatantly biased and dishonest media in our history...they'll never know what they missed!

I am so glad that I wasn’t dissuaded, even though so much was invested in dissuading me.....and dissuading everyone else, from tuning into the Salute to America!

I am more in love with this Country than I was yesterday or the day before that and I will love her even more come tomorrow...I will never apologize for that!

God Bless the U.S.A.!

God Bless the U.S.A.

Trump is definitely a patriot. While others are burning our flag and referring to it as an oppressive and divisive symbol, I love how Trump planned such a big bash to celebrate our nation. I was incredulous to see how the fake news media spun the story, saying Trump was politicizing and militarizing the holiday. What? Trump represents we proud Americans who love our country and all that it stands for. Yes, God bless America!

A home of immigrant we simply pray lord for our country. We laughed in irreverence about blue white and red. "Great" seems a platitude. We live it here, speaking of it seems weak.
