People swear by them, and no I do not mean “My ******* Therashoes don’t work”. The shoes are great therapeutic shoes and have won many fans in the short time they have been on the market.
A new addition to the toning shoe market no longer attracts so much media attention with so many toning shoes and therapeutic footwear already on the market.
As such, it is quite easy to miss a great product when it is launched, so I have decided to spread the word about Therashoe. It eases foot pain, creates a healthier walking gait, and will even improve body tone.
Therashoe uses a rocker bottom sole to tone the lower body, with a super soft foam midsole providing excellent cushioning for the joints throughout the lower body. The tried and tested rocker sole design helps to generate increased muscle activity in the calves, hamstrings and buttocks to get more value out of walking and to gently build up lean body mass whilst you walk.
However Therashoe offers far more than a well toned bottom and better core muscle strength, with a full complement of benefits to improve overall body wellness.
The main function of these toning shoes is to correct the posture to take the shock waves out of walking. By absorbing the force of the heel strike and dissipating the energy throughout the shoe, shock waves are prevented from reaching the joints, easing pain and making walking highly comfortable. The heel strike can be damaging to the body, and whilst the human foot is a marvel of engineering, it has yet to evolve to adequately deal with the shock waves from walking on hard modern surfaces such as concrete and asphalt.
The natural way of walking is barefoot on soft ground, where the heel is cushioned and the forefoot takes its fair share of the body weight. When walking on hard surfaces, modern shoes promote a heavy heel strike and take the force away from the forefoot. Modern shoes place more strain on the heel and prevent a healthy rolling of the foot from heel to toe, which can lead to foot fatigue and injury.
Therashoe changes this thanks to an innovatively designed midsole. Whereas other tone shoe manufacturers use a dual density or triple density midsole, the Therashoe uses 6 different densities. The strategically placed EVA compounds in the midsole offer maximum shock absorption, whilst giving the necessary level of support throughout the stride. As the foot rolls smoothly from the heel to the toe, a greater range of muscles are activated, adding more toning value to walking. However by creating a more pronounced roll, the shoes stretch the muscles and ligaments in the feet, conditioning and strengthening with each and every step.
With the heel perfectly cushioned and a natural roll set in motion, the distribution of foot pressure is changed which has profound benefits for sufferers of many painful foot conditions. The most notable advantages are for sufferers of plantar fasciitis and heel spurs; common foot disorders estimated to affect 10% of Americans at some point during their lifetimes.
The Therashoe helps to gently stretch the plantar fascia, conditioning and strengthening the feet to better resist the forces of walking and running on hard surfaces. The shoes are a great preventative measure to take to ensure that plantar fasciitis never develops, and heel spurs never form. The shoes promote a natural alignment of the bones in the foot, with a roomy toe box to prevent pressure from damaging the joints. As such they are excellent bunion shoes and great for sufferers of hammer toes. The shoes replicate one of the most beneficial plantar fasciitis exercises, simulating barefoot walking in soft sand and speed up the recovery process.
Not only is the Therashoe one of the best shoes for plantar fasciitis, the bones of the feet are allowed to align naturally easing many other common complaints such as heel spurs, bunions, hammer toes and even stress fractures, and with posture correction and improved lower body toning, they offer a great package for improving overall body wellness.
Therashoe Benefits to the Body
- Reduce pressure on the joints in the feet, ankle, knees, hips and lower back
- Stretch the muscles and ligaments to improve conditioning of the body
- Tone muscles in the legs and bottom faster than standard shoes
- Reduce metatarsal injuries
- Target plantar fasciitis and heel spurs to ease pain
- Make walking comfortable for sufferers of many musculoskeletal conditions
- Great bunion shoes to ease pressure on the joints of the toes
- Reduce the forces on the lower back
- Correct the posture when walking and standing to help ease muscle tension
- Endorsed by the Academy of Therapeutic Footwear (ATF)
The Therashoe offers excellent cushioning, support and comfort and is a great treatment for plantar fasciitis, heel spurs and many other foot complaints. Wearing Therashoes will even help to prevent the conditions from developing in the first place. The shoes offer exceptional value for money, and are available on Amazon for under $35, half the price of most tone shoes on the market. The styles are better than most therapeutic shoes already being sold, although you will not get the cutting edge fashionable designs of the big name tone shoe brands.
On the downside, you will struggle to find a toning shoe with a thicker outsole. At around 2 inches, it is at least half an inch more than most other rocker sole brands on the market. Whilst this makes for great cushioning, if you want to correct the posture and ease pain on the quiet, these are not the shoes for you.
However if you want a pair of cheap toning shoes with great benefits for wellness, you can’t go far wrong with a pair of Therashoes on your feet.
Where to Buy Therashoe Footwear
Therashoe footwear has previously been sold by Sears and K-Mart; however stocks of the shoes have been depleted and these stores are no longer stocking the footwear. It would appear that the Therashoe company has gone out of business according to the Facebook account.
In the United States, the only option appears to be E-bay as detailed below. The listings will include unwanted purchases, excess stock and second hand models.
The only place I have managed to find Therashoe footwear still available for sale is in the UK, on Amazon.co.uk. I suspect that this will only be until stock runs out. Buying the shoes in the UK and shipping them to the United States will not only involved postage costs, but also may be liable for import taxes, which may make the footwear prohibitively expensive.
Otherwise please look at the alternative brands on my toning shoes comparison hub

I'm soooo sad! I've had a black pair of the Thera shoe flip flops for I know 5 years and still wearing them in hopes to find them again! I'm now down to my pink and grey pair and will wear them til they fall apart! I have a pair of fitflops but they do not compare to my $10 TS flip flops!!
Belva on August 14, 2018:
I would like to know who caries Thera shoe flip flops in different colors and size stores or on line thanks for you help
Bano on October 31, 2016:
Completely worn out but not letting go till I can find a replacement. Not found a black pair yet size 4.
michifus (author) on June 16, 2015:
Kmart stock clearance by the sound of it, the shoes have been discontinued - I have yet to find somewhere else to buy these. There are alternative brands, but they are much more expensive than $10 a pair. (FitFlop for example) - Take a look at my toning sandals hub - https://hubpages.com/health/Toning-sandals-review-... for some ideas
The only other suggestion I have is to keep checking e-bay. Maybe someone somewhere has a secret stash of them.
brenda on June 16, 2015:
Oh boy need more pairs at $10 dollars as what they were a kmart yes about 3 years ago.where do I find the thera shoe flip flop again .The shoe works great for long wearing.
michifus (author) on May 31, 2014:
Thanks for the comments. Its fear of lawsuits I suppose.
Robweb on May 30, 2014:
I use therashoes for work - must be black. Have done for the past 3 or 4 years since discovering how good they are. Now they are discontinued. Can't get them any more. I guess the Academy of Therapeutic Footwear don't care as much about us customers as we all thought. Now I have to start again to find comfortable, affordable shoes that suit work requirements and still help my foot and back pain. Why do companies do this all the time?
Dana Garner on July 05, 2013:
:( so sad they are out of business. I've tried the therafit shoes that are out now... they just don't compare. :( i wish this company would come back!!!!

Purchased thera-shoe at K-Mart last spring. They are the best pair of shoes I have. Can't compare to any other shoe. K-Mart no longer sells them. What are we to do???
Sue on March 14, 2012:
I have had my Thera Sandels at least 3 years...LOVE THEM! But like Diane, I have not been able to find any more of the same style or color..I need new ones so bad.
joy on February 20, 2012:
Please bring them back.........they are all that I wear and cannot find any this year :(
Carla on February 20, 2012:
It's upsetting that new therasandals are no where to be found. They were the first pair of shoes I could wear without adding my $30 gaudy arch supports too since developing plantar facitis. Fitflops, sketchers, etc. don't compare and also cost much more.
michifus (author) on November 29, 2011:
OK, it would appear that the company is no more, according to the Facebook page.
I cant verify whether this is true, but it seems to be the case. I have found some for sale however in the united states as detailed above. I suggest you look at buying them quickly, as once they are sold, that's it.
I would suggest taking a look at FitFlop as an alternative, or to view the full range of brands on my toning shoes comparison hub on the following link:

I have added a section above detailing where you can buy the shoes, but so far I have only been able to find them for sale in the UK. I am still searching for an alternative, and will post as soon as I find a store which is selling these shoes in America. In the meantime, if anyone is aware of where it is possible to buy Therashoe footwear, please let me know!

i have had feet and leg pain for quite a while due to my diabetes. I have tried all brands, cheap and expensive. I found some Mary Jane style at K Mart and I have not worn anything else since. I was on my feet almost 10 hours last week and no pain. Please bring them back. If someone knows how to come across buying some please post. i have friends that i have recommended these to and they also can't find them.
michifus (author) on November 19, 2011:
It looks like they have been discontinued :( Ill have a look into it
Diane on November 19, 2011:
I have found the same thing. Kmart has them no more. I have been wearing them for 3 years now because of my leg pains due to leaking disc's in my back. They are the only thing that keeps me working and walking almost pain free. The company that them, I can't even find the shoes on their web page, only insoles.
Danette on August 06, 2011:
I loved my to death lol Have worn them completely out. Now that I need a new pair I cannot seem to find them anywhere. I am searching the web right now as Kmart seems to have stopped carrying that brand.
