7 Steps to Becoming That Girl

Brief Description:

‘That’ girl is a term coined by the internet (more specifically the app TikTok) to describe a girl who seemingly has her life together. She is organized, clean, eats healthy, wakes up early, exercises, journals, etc.

In summary, a girl who is focused on becoming the best version of herself. You may be asking yourself, “How can I become ‘that’ girl?” How can I create the best version of myself? Here are the 7 steps you can take to become that girl.

1. Routine

This is arguably the most important step you can take to becoming 'that' girl, or to just simply create more structure in your daily life.

Routines are imperative to creating healthy habits, and an overall healthy lifestyle. An easy way to design a routine just for you is to incorporate things you already do everyday.

For every new habit, try something you’re already familiar with. Already light a candle every night? Try doing some nightly yoga in the candle light.

Routines help to create good time management skills and self discipline. However, it is important to start off slow and work your way up as you go. Putting too much pressure on yourself too soon can lead to burnout.

2. Meal Prep

Because 'that' girl is always striving to be more time efficient, planning meals ahead of time is something you should consider integrating into your new routine.

This can be a helpful strategy to reduce your meal portions by deciding what, and how much, you will eat ahead of time.

It can also be a huge time saver by cutting out the hassle of shopping for ingredients everyday, chopping vegetables, cooking time, etc. This way, you have extra time in your schedule for the important stuff!

In the long run, meal prepping can even lead to healthier food choices. It is much easier to make the decision to eat clean when hunger isn't staring you in the face.

3. Exercise

Another key step of 'that' girl’s routine is daily exercise. Whether you are a beginner, who hasn’t run a mile since high school P.E., or an expert who runs marathons for fun, everyone can benefit from a little exercise everyday.

If you’re not one of those experts, and are looking for somewhere easy to start, try experimenting with some light yoga. There are endless exercise videos on Youtube where you can follow along at your own pace.

If you’re not the “workout in your living room” type and tend to need a little accountability, it could be beneficial to join a gym which offers group classes. These classes can include: Yoga, Pilates, HIIT, Water Aerobics, Zumba, and more.

Of course, as I mentioned previously, it’s always important to work your way up. Tackling too much at once can lead to injury.

5. Self Care

To become the best version of yourself, you gotta treat yourself sometimes! No matter how busy you are, self care should be a priority in your daily routine.

A list of my personal favorite self care activities:

  • Take time to reflect
  • Journal
  • Meditate
  • Relaxing bath
  • Read a book
  • Light a candle
  • Go for a walk

Self care has many different health benefits, not only mentally but also physically and emotionally. Self care can help reduce stress and anxiety, boost productivity, and improve energy.

Everyday try to carve out some extra time for yourself. Most importantly, do whatever makes you happy!

6. Disconnect

In such a digital world, it's so easy to get caught up in social media and how the internet perceives us.

I know it's extremely tempting to pull out your phone and snap a picture every time you're feeling extra aesthetic.

And while it's important to document your success, it’s also important to disconnect sometimes.

If you’re like me, you probably spend a pretty significant amount of time every morning in bed scrolling. Not only is this habit unproductive but it can also be harmful for your health.

Challenge yourself to not check your phone the first 30 minutes after you wake up. Or, set a maximum screen time for yourself every week and try to stay within that limit.

It can be tough at first. But once in the habit, it does get easier to not reach for your phone every five minutes.

7. Dedication

And last but not least, being disciplined and dedicated is essential to creating a better lifestyle and a happier self.

Identify your why, and then figure out how. And don't forget to keep track of your progress.

An easy way to find motivation when supply is low is to look back at where you started, see how far you’ve come!

Your actions will follow your thoughts. Set your mind to it and you can achieve it!

Final Thoughts:

Of course morning matcha and 5am runs are nice and all, but no one is perfect. So don't strive for it! Remember, a healthy lifestyle is a balanced lifestyle.

Overworking yourself can be harmful and what's the good in doing all that hard work for no reason? So enjoy that piece of chocolate cake, lay in bed all day, rest.

Be proud of who you are. You ARE that girl.
