Lemon is the most abundantly found citrus in the world. A good source of vitamin C and other nutrients that play key role in keeping immune system healthy. The reason I wanted to write about lemon and super lemon combinations was to add something amazing to my 10 pound diet plan.

Hydration is important while trying to lose weight, adequate water intake helps with efficient weight management. My advice of drinking 12 glass of water daily to meet adequate water requirement was proving out to be a bit difficult, especially in colder regions. So I had to come up with a better, healthier and more nutritious alternative to produce same effect with less water intake. Lemon was the missing magical ingredient I was looking for.

After going through number of recent researches I discovered that this small but tremendously nutritious fruit packs a unique set of nourishing elements. These elements and their highly effective natural form makes lemon the definitive weight loss ingredient.

A brief list of Lemon elements include vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, pantothenic acid, copper, calcium, iron, magnesium, niacin thiamin, zinc, vitamin B6, phosphorus, folate, riboflavin, protein, potassium and few other complex compounds currently being studied at different research centers.

For a long time only lemon juice was used as a part of different recipes, then lemon zest became common and now we have lemon infused water. All three are equally efficient but I would recommend a combination lemon juice, lemon peel and lemon infused water for best results.

Lemon combined with other healthy ingredients can create a drink that provides excellent hydration with incredible health benefits. I have created a shareable chart of 25 possible lemon based drinks that you could use on daily basis. Instead of drinking 12 glass of water daily you can have 4 -5 glass of lemon infused water combined with other healthy ingredients mentioned in chart below.

Health benefits of drinking lemonade daily are so many that you wouldn’t want to miss out this wonderful addition to your daily diet. Let me just give you a quick glimpse of all goodness lemon has to offer.

Indigestion, Constipation and Other Gut Related Issues: Lemon is acidic in its natural form but after going through process of digestion, it produces an alkaline effect due to its high mineral content. Providing a short change in PH levels inside stomach. It comes as small relief to a constant acidic enjoinment producing a healing effect. In short lemon improves digestive health and boosts metabolism.

Citrus Pectin is a complex carbohydrate found in lemon peels, pectin is a dietary fiber that improves the process of gut healing. Use of lemon is advised to boost recovery from gut issues. Limonoid another chemical found in Lemon peels is capable of preventing or fighting cancer.

Polyphenols found in lemon are helpful in reducing diet related obesity, vitamin C present in lemon is helpful in reducing stress and stress eating is biggest cause of obesity these days. A poll on my post had 600 participants and 88% said that they eat more when they are stressed out. Using lemon on regular basis can help regulate adrenalin gland and different hormones, decreasing stress and stress induced obesity.

Lemon minerals are also helpful in strengthening your immune system, potassium in lemon helps with regulating blood pressure. Lemon and salt drink is an effective natural remedy for hypotension. When infused with other fruits lemon water can cause detoxification of body. I myself am not a big fan of detox theory but I strongly believe in maintaining a healthy and balanced mineral levels. Diuretic properties of lemon infused water can help normalize minerals in body, hence producing the detox effect.

Lemon peel or Lemon Zest:

As I mentioned earlier lemon peel has its own benefits and to take most advantage out of lemon it should be used with lemon juice. When making drinks use lemon zest instead of whole peel, it mixes in well and is easy to swallow. Sliced lemon peel could be used with any non-liquid recipe.

Lemon juice:

Squeezed lemon juice can be used with all kinds of recipes, make sure that you do not remove pectin fibers from juice while trying to separate seeds. Sometimes use of fine strainers can also remove fibers in squeezed lemon.

Fruit Infuser Water Bottle:

Infuser bottle is used to infuse different fruits with water and it goes very well with lemon and other citrus. I would recommend getting zest first then use same lemon to make lemon infused water and add lemon juice for maximum benefit. Remember that infusers don’t get everything out of the infused fruit, you have to add juice and peel to make it a whole nutritious drinkable package.
