I enjoyed your to-the-point write up... Until I got to the closing sentence before you thank the reader. It sickened me to read "It is a decision that anybody can make at any speck of time in life." Anorexia is not a conscious decision people make. Of course there are some cases where people decide to quickly lose weight this way, but to make such an assumption about every case is ignorant. It's also damning to anyone who may be doing research for a loved one. That statement makes it seem as though the sufferer can easily choose to snap out of the hold this disease has. If you meant that someone can choose recovery at any point, then please rewrite it so this is clear.

As a figure skater, I've seen this in others. I've seen one girl so painfully thin that she broke her wrist when she fell while going less than 5 Mph. Your hub has some very good suggestions.

No longer anorexic. I got divorced and slowly regained my self-esteem and I joined a group for battered women. Many do need to be hospitalized but group therapy helped in my case. Thank you for asking, that's very kind.

...Oh Im sorry for that...Are you still anorexic until now? I mean are you doing something to regain your weight? or is it hard to eat a lot? Im just curious....
BobbiRant from New York on April 27, 2011:
As a young woman, I was anorexic for 15 years. My anorexia was the direct result of a very bad marriage to a bad man and feelings of low, low self-esteem. I felt unworthy of even the food I should have been eating. I suppose the cause is different for different people.
