Bring Back the Days of Yea and Nay Back When Life Was so Simple

Writing is my passion. I have an undying thirst and quest in the field of writing. Some eat, drink, or use drugs when stressed; I write.

We should spend some time with friends, enjoying, laughing, dancing, being there for one another, and doing what we love. Aiming to live a life worth remembering, but where are those good old-fashioned values that we all held so dear to our hearts and known.

Grab a quick trip down memory lane, reminiscing back to the days of living when life was so simple. Can anyone remember back when life was simple? People had morals and values; they knew how to be a good neighbor, and love overpowered hate.

We did not live in a complicated evil world–which means from our childhood; we learn how to respect our elders; the parent took the kids to church, and the children follow the rules and guidelines.

Back in the day during the 70s, 90s until about the mid/late 2000s, in dating, men and women took part in an old-fashioned courtship in a sophisticated manner. Today, a female rarely finds herself in the presence of a gentleman with values, and there is no old-world value of spending quality time anymore. It is astounding how finding sincere love and dating has changed.

Back in the days’ people had faith in God, and they established their belief in the life they lived, but with every culture and society, over the years, somehow things, today sure have shifted and double-clutch in the wrong direction.

Before the pressure of life took over, people knew how to get past life’s complications. If someone is having an awful day or needs to hear a kind word, someone in the neighborhood would extend kindness, or someone shared a thoughtful expression that lets the person know we care and are here for you.

If an individual in the community needs food, someone in the neighborhood made sure the family had something to eat. Whether it was snacks or a complete meal, people took a moment to understand what it means for a society to become a more progressive community when life was so simple.

Back when life was so simple, people understood the traditional African proverb. “It takes a village to raise a child.” The neighborhood was a place where people could share their misery with others, and they recognized and identified by showing a little love that would go a long way.

If a parent struggles to get a child’s behavior back on track, the village helps make sure it happens. Today, our “village” has never been more necessary, especially since children face countless challenges and opportunities.

We all need to be put back on the right track to parenthood where we can daunt and more undertaking - we need communities and supports for and necessary to prepare our children for tomorrow.

We need to focus on the future generations and do what we need to bring back the good old-fashioned value. With a community of different people interacting to raise children in ways that assure our kids can grow up to be happy, prosperous, and loved.

The simple life was not so innovative with technologies like the cell phone, the Internet, GPS, or computers. It did not comprise nude television shows, massive gangs or heavy drug use, no short skirts on young ladies, no sagging pants on the young males, and no intense violence in the video game.

We did not see or hear of the mass shooting, killing, and robbery where almost none exists, and people seem to capture the sentiments of how to be Christ-like. People, viewpoints lined up with the law and more upheld it.

Back in the days, life was full of happiness, and things were much better than today. The only shooting heard of being was in the war called Vietnam.

While living in the hustle and bustle of our modern world, I find myself missing a simpler time when life was so simple; people allowed good to overpower the bad. Young girls knew how to be ladies, and how to stand by the right man. The young men knew how to be a gentleman and how to treat a lady. A man understood that courtship was not just about having a sexual relationship, a woman needed to feel loved.

Now that thing has changed, and the simple life and the rules have faded away, drug use heavier than ever, gangs are growing more, robbery and killing are at an all-time high and life are more complicated. Do you miss the days when life was simpler and less complicated?

What happened to the beautiful world God created when people used to know how to distinguish what right and what's wrong as well as what's most important in life?

People knew how to live without wasteful spending and always consuming and pushing for the next big thing. Parents did not buy clothes for children or toys just to be spending or to try to replace the idea they were not available to raise them.

Mothers were available for their children, and the fathers shed light and showed the children what's right, parent purchase clothes or toys on a need base or a particular occasion like Christmas or Birthdays.

We all should and needs to make better decisions to get back in the process of moving back to the top.

Life today is more complicated because of the wrong decision and the many poor choices people make and the many technologies we all take for granted to move us from simple to demanding.

We'd create problems with our overspending and too much time enjoying life's simple pleasures that we fail to teach our children how to deal with each terrible situation.

So, they begin taking matters into their hand by joining gangs, picking up a gun, robbing, and killing, stealing and doing the thing they feel they able to do as long as they did not get caught.

Before life got complicated mother did not go out to nightclubs and neglect the children or stay out very late, they were at home being moms.

Older sibling took the time to help the younger child with homework and father took their rightful place in the house by going to work and taking care of the family.

Children could go outside and play without being in the crossfire of gun violence, and there were no strangers, only friends we had not met. Children did not spend many hours watching television as they did not allow television or video games to rule their life.

Today every home needs fathers in it more than ever, except, now, many homes are without a father figure to raise the boys to be real men to lead and guide them, ensure they know they need to work and provide for the family.

Therefore, the pressure is placed on the mother’s shoulder to balance her home and work due to the need for income, so all the home training dissolves like a bubble on the surface of the water.

The only wisdom comes to children today arrives in the form of legends, heroes or from the wrong male figures or the unsuitable people they trust on the street.

Before life changed from simple to complex children went to school and learned all the required subjects, and they had a sense of belonging, but now young people no longer listen nor desire to learn or attend school, and the dropout rate is very high.

Young age girls are giving birth to babies, and they are left, raising them themselves with no home training and that's enough to make anyone facetious and think we need to bring back the simple days when we could plainly see our way.

Today a lot of people are living overly stressful lifestyles. Life is not complicated; we complicate it. Things are so difficult today until the Winans Brothers recorded a song titled “Bring Back the Days of Yea and Nay.”

The lyrics: “I remember when life was so easy, boys grew into men, little girls to women, but it ain't like that anymore somewhere we lost the way.” “Bring back the days of yea and nay when we could plainly see the way ... then it was up to us to choose whether to win or to lose.”

The Winans Brothers were singing about the simplicity of mere days that no longer exist today.

Although one person does not have the power to bring back the mere days, we can identify with what’s most important in life today and look for the best in a complicated world.

If you are one of the ones who is confessing to being concerned about how over the years things have changed and our simple life, have faded away. You should spend more time praying and listening to God than trying to gain material things and fit into the world where you will never find real peace.

If we would take the time to go back and pick up our Bibles that are gathering dust on a forgotten shelf in our home, we would not feel God is so distant. One scripture, in particular, we should read and is a favorite of many, Psalms 23, read James 4: 8 and Psalms 8: 10 when God seems so distant.

There are so many more scriptures to read above are only a few to start you, but once you start you will not want to stop and you will be able to move forward and learn the rest for yourself.

Also, we need to begin uttering words in prayer to the Heavenly Father on a daily basis, so we will find that real power and peace that can be located when life was so simple.

Bring back the days when life was simple has a different meaning and a different value for every person. For me, it means to spend more time reading the word, praying and listening to God, knowing whom I am and getting rid of life’s complications so I can enjoy living a simple life.

It also, means by getting closer to God, He will rid me of all my worries and all the unwanted clutter, I gathered over the years and eliminating it all, but the essential, so I am left with only that which gives me value.

Ways to Simplify Your Life

  • first spend more time praying, reading the word and listening to God; God has the answer to bringing back the simple life
  • Make sure you have a church home and attend on a regular basis
  • You must be willing to let go of the life you planned, so you can enjoy the life that God has waiting for you
  • Start by embracing the life that is waiting for you
  • Identify what’s most important to you in life
  • Then eliminate all clutter gathered over the years that weight you down and prevented you from living up to your true potential
  • Step outside the box that you have boxed yourself into so you can live a better and complete life so that you can live your life fully.
  • Start focusing on the things you can control and less on the things you can do nothing about
  • Look for the positive in every challenging situation
  • Concentrate more on what you have and less on what you do not have
  • Surround yourself with positive people who will encourage and be there for you

Truth be told, life is still simple, furthermore, it’s not easy because people insist on making it confusing and overly complicated. Most of us are searching and hoping for a simple and more comfortable life, where we can enjoy a simple life. Besides if we allow God, he will help us.

He will bring back the simple day where we can plainly see our way. When we allow God to assist us to stop doing the wrong things and start doing what’s right, life is simple.
