Well they say you should write about what you know so that's what i am going to do. I have been told that Bio oil is a miracle worker for scars so this lens is going to be the test. Its Tuesday 12th December 2012 and here is my scar a day old with the stitches still in. It might take a few months to complete but you are going to see first hand if Bio oil is as good as they say.
Please be patient and you will see the story unfold. Hopefully in a few months you will see a final picture with a scar that's barely visible, that's the hope anyway!
The story behind the scar
All my life i had a mole on my cheek. It never gave me any trouble but at the age of 45 the doctor thought it was starting to change shape and colour so it would be best to get it removed. After the first operation, the results showed irregular cells so the picture you see above is a result of the second go. They removed a much larger area and left me with a cracker scar. I was in Marks and Spensers today and people were actually moving out of my way and turning in the other direction, its amazing how we all judge people.
Anyway i intend to keep a record of my progress and how quickly the scar heals with the help of Bio oil. This will be a great test of the product and I am hoping that the scar heals well.
If you have a mole and are worried about, doctors recommend using the ABCD observations as shown
A - Asymmetry, a mole shouldn't differ from one side to the other.
B - Border, the edges of the mole shouldn't be blurred or jagged.
C - Colour, look out for any changes in colour or patchy shades.
D - Diameter, check to see if a mole increases in size or if it is larger than 6mm across.
Its always best to get these types of things looked at by a doctor and I can tell you from experience that although not pleasant, getting my mole removed was not in any way painful. It took an hour under local anaethetic and i drove myself home from the hospital.
Thursday 21st Dec
Nine days on and the scar is so itchy i can't believe it. The stitches are coming out in the morning so i will be able to start applying the bio oil, i will put up a picture with the wound once the stitches are out.
So here we go. It was pretty easy to have the stitches out and treatment can now begin.
Well here we are after 6 weeks. As you can see the scar is healing really brilliantly. The very bottom still has a bit to go but i have been using the Bio Oil and I feel it is actually doing wonders.
I don't know what you think but to me it seems to be doing really well. The redness has died down considerably and the actual surface of the skin is much smoother.
Sorry for the time difference from the last picture but i got a bit of an infection at the top of the scar so there wasn't much point in taking any pictures.
As you can see this has now healed and the bio oil seems to be doing a great job at reparing the skin. Hopefully i will be able to stick to my monthly picture from now on though i am sure you can see a steady improvement from using the bio oil.
Here we are on the 18th August 2013 with the latest picture, the scar is healing really well.
I am hoping to be able to do away with the beard very shortly as the scar is now only about a quarter or the original size
As you can see the top and bottom parts of the scar have disappeared completely and just the middle bit is visible now
A year on
Am I vain
Is there a miracle cure
I would really like to hear from anybody with personal experience of scar treatment. I have read loads of stuff on the internet including the use of silicone sheets but as a seasoned blogger and internet user i am pretty sceptical of anything I see unless its recommended by my doctor.
That being said I am sure there are a lot of people out there who could put me in the right direction. If you can help, please leave a comment or contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Many thanks in advance, Geoff

I just wanted to say thanks for this. I'm currently anxious about how my forehead scar will look once healed and while I understand that your experience is no guarantee, it has reassured me that in time it will be ok.

Hi Geoff, could you post another updated picture. I just had a sebaceous cyst removed on my cheek and have a scar. Did you use any other remedies? Did you have any laser treatment or did you just use bio oil?

This product could be very useful for both men and women, it seems too work really well according to your pictures!

@Lady Lorelei: Hi,it was preventative for me too. The scar is well healed now, I must put an up to date pic on. Thanks for your comment
Lorelei Cohen from Canada on July 23, 2013:
I am quite shocked by the size of the scar from the mole and tissue removal. I had a couple of moles removed years ago (one from the upper cheek location the same as yours) as a preventive measure.

I've seen this oil advertising so I am really interested to see your progress and hopefully read your success story!
