Wishing You Made Changes in Your Life

Devika enjoys sharing her work with a friendly community. Writing opens the mind. I live in a foreign country learned a foreign language .

Wishing your life choices were changed

Wishing you made the changes to be successful.

Life, as you know, happens and sometimes you wish certain experiences never affected you. However, you see it and want that life to be for you; this becomes your way of life.

I learned that giving up in life is not an option.

Struggle in life is there for you to take on this huge burden. Nothing you do will deviate from the struggle you have in your life. Just take what life gives to you with a smile and feel confident.

There have been many obstacles in my path, and I wanted more to make me feel challenged in this game. I did not complain about these obstacles. To me, it is a waste of energy to complain about what I am not able to control and to make it right.

I could do what I am complaining about or walk away and be faced with something more than that. So, I either do it and go ahead and feel courageous or fall apart and wish for a miracle to get me out of the mess I am in.

Every morning I get out of bed thinking I am going to focus on my achievements. On that day I will make an effort to visualize what is in store for me. I strive for something to change my life in a positive way. Spending time with my close friends and loving family are among the list of what I have to enjoy.

I believe that if I want to be better in my achievements I need to create a life for that. The people I met are just visitors in my life, they come and go as they please, but my family is there for me and for life.

Begin your relationships when you know it is not something you will take for granted. Also, be in love with someone special rather than think out of the blue to give it a shot. In time you realize without being in love your time in that relationship was worthless.

Do what is fair to both of you and you will have a good relationship. I do not take people in my life for granted. I enjoy having people over and do not see them as pawns.

To start with you need to eat a well-balanced diet to have a healthy lifestyle. This builds your character and a good immune system which in turn gives you a healthy brain to think, and to be able to share with others what you think is worthy of you,

In my life, I have had many challenges and one of the challenges that have taken me forward is to learn the language in a foreign country. While learning the Croatian language I realized the importance of learning the basic words and expressions.

If you want to be a better thinker and writer, keep a journal. To be good at what you have a passion for you must work hard at it. Taking a risk to get your facts in order about your life is what I had to find out for myself.

I once sat in a room with people who couldn’t finalize their decisions to go on a road trip. They looked at each other and were lost with ideas. I took the opportunity to lead the way and the road trip turned out fantastic!

I would not take upon an offer if it sounds too good to be true. There it is, skepticism about such an offer does teach you about the little experiences you want to fall right into in a haste.

The important lesson I learned is to focus on family, on my goals, on happiness, and on the value of friendships. I do not make everything about money in my life.

I have always been nice to people, but some people haven’t been nice to me. However, they behaved toward me. I wasn't a pushover to them. It has never been that way for me to insult anyone. Instead, I treat people nicely and show them my true self.

Every day I learned something new and challenged my way in my adoptive country, Croatia. Situations that made me feel uncomfortable I fitted in right away without a doubt.

To learn about the people around me, I visited occasionally and had friendly conversations. It doesn’t mean that people who made different choices should be judged by you. I value myself and others too, and I have been patient in having a good life in Croatia. I know that it will get better even at my worst times I think so.

Everything is not about me, it is about others as well. Often I help others without thinking about what I will get in return. I know if I keep score of what I will get in return that will make me a bitter person.

People want to live to high standards, as in dressing up and living like their neighbours are. It is these people who fail to enjoy what most matters. Trying to keep up with the Joneses and to have everything they could have ever wanted for themselves. They do not know the meaning of enjoying what they have.

I don’t dwell in the past and haven’t for a long time. I moved on when I felt good and happy with my new life. This life I came into has shown me a different path. One of the many things I should have known is how to appreciate what I have. In the past, I had a comfortable lifestyle and in Croatia, everything changed.

I wish I had known life is not always easy and not everything is about having a luxurious life. I wish I had known about this life before I came to live it in Croatia.

The skills I have are worth more than what others think of me. I will be that person knowing what to do with my life rather than having no skill and a job and not knowing how to be a success at that job.

It is best for me to know that I can rely on myself and work out whatever I want to do for myself. Life has been a struggle, good days remind me of that.

So, here I am sometime later in the hope of having a better life in Croatia. I do have a good life. In the southern part of Croatia, it is unspoiled and nature is wonderful here. I wish I had known more about everything in this country. Nevertheless, I have learned a lot about the details of the surrounding countries and of Croatia during my recent travels.

I believe in myself and each day I learn about myself. Changes have got me clued up on my life in the past and the present.

In everything I learned and heard, it still makes me wonder what if I had known more from before I came to live in Croatia. Looking back on my experiences has taught me to remain positive.

I am grateful for what I have and learned in Croatia. This life has taught me a lot about myself.

Marlene Bertrand You are so kind to stop by here. A lot has changed for me so writing about it is how I feel better in this life. Thank you

Denise McGill from Fresno CA on June 29, 2021:

I think we all look back and wish we had made certain changes or handled situations differently but as you say, there is no point in looking back since we cannot really change anything. We can only go on from here. You make some good suggestions like eating a balanced diet for a healthier outlook on life.

Blessings,

Denise

Marlene Bertrand from USA on June 29, 2021:

Mary Norton Thank you and everything is part of life. Sometimes we lose some and win some. I appreciate your comment.

Audrey Hunt from Pahrump NV on June 28, 2021:

You were brave, moving to a new country, with all the changes involved. I commend you! Self-reliance doesn't come easy, but what a wonderful thing it is. Thank you for sharing. You've given some good food for thought.

FlourishAnyway from USA on June 28, 2021:

Everyone wishes they could do some things differently but we can only move forward and make positive changes. It’s never too late to make necessary changes in one’s life, big or small. Moving to a new country was brave of you. I’m sorry people have not always embraced you and treated you with kindness. We have all probably felt excluded or disrespected like that at some time and it hurts. Continue to try to build your social support network and take care of yourself.

MG Singh from UAE on June 28, 2021:

This is a nice article and makes one think. Everybody looks back and feels things could've been done differently. It is part of life.

Mary Norton from Ontario, Canada on June 28, 2021:

Such a wonderful message. Change is so much part of our lives, so I learn to flow with it. It's often not as bad as I think. Instead of moping for what I have lost, I try to appreciate what I have now, which has helped me greatly. You have made a brave move and you have made the most of it.

Nithya Venkat It is huge difference for me, but I learned lots from chatting with local people and the experiences I had along the way. The present means a lot. The past is history and the future I will never know. I appreciate your comment thank you

Devika Primić (author) from Dubrovnik, Croatia on June 28, 2021:

Rozlin Thank you for a kind comment. I live in the Balkan region and is a beautiful sight. I have learned lots living in a foreign country I had no idea of before I came to live to create a different life. I believe that a positive attitude is the way of life. I appreciate your time.

Adrienne Farricelli on June 28, 2021:

I think it's very common to regret some choices we have made earlier in life, but as we grow, we can learn how to make better ones, or at least be happy with what we have. As you say, it's up to us to make life what we want it to be. Every day is like a blank canvas, we can make a nice drawing out of it, or at least try to make the best out of it.

EK Jadoon from Abbottabad Pakistan on June 28, 2021:

Hi Devika,

Changes are certainly important to make your life easier to live. The pictures of the valley are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Stay safe and healthy...

Nithya Venkat from Dubai on June 28, 2021:

A great message in your article- to take what life throws our way and make the most of it. I never dwell on the past, it is a complete waste of time. It must have been a big change when you moved to Croatia.

Rozlin from UAE on June 28, 2021:

U r right Devika, we should not keep thinking about the things we did in past or yesterday. It will only waste our time, instead we should think how to make our today and tomorrow or future more better than past. I liked your hub, a good read. I liked pictures too. U live in a very beautiful place, looks peaceful silent place. Thank you for sharing this hub. Stay safe and healthy

Blessings and Much Love!!

Devika Primić (author) from Dubrovnik, Croatia on June 28, 2021:

Peggy Woods It is correct so much e can't change in our lives. Well, I do know that I have created a life for me and it is what it is, and will not trade my life for anything else better. Thank you

Devika Primić (author) from Dubrovnik, Croatia on June 28, 2021:

Pamela Oglesby It has been a lot to learn of and to have come this far is a courageous effort I have made for living in Croatia. Sometimes it can be frustrating or stressful, but I have learned to just let everything be that I know I have no control of. Thank you

Devika Primić (author) from Dubrovnik, Croatia on June 28, 2021:

Hope you are well and enjoying yourself. I see life in a positive way and living in this art of the world is such a blessing to me.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Rebels. on June 27, 2021:

Devika, it was an interesting read. Rather than looking back, I choose to look forward. We should never forget our experiences, but we should always try to look ahead in order to make our tomorrow better than our yesterday

Thank you so much for sharing this

Blessings always!

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on June 27, 2021:

Like you and others who left comments said, it is best to focus on the life ahead instead of looking back. We cannot change the past, so it does no good to make wishes that something could have been different.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on June 27, 2021:

I can't imagine moving to a whole different country as they would be a big adjustment. This is an interesting article, Devika.

I don't dwell on the past either. I feel like I have always learned from the tough times. I would probably do a few things differently if I knew they what I know now, but not anything major. I would have still become an RN, and I would not trade my 3 boys for anything. I never waste time thinking about what I would have done differently.

Thanks for the enjoyable article, Devika.

Devika Primić (author) from Dubrovnik, Croatia on June 27, 2021:

Beautiful surroundings and so much I have learned through the challenges I had faced up to in Croatia.

manatita44 from london on June 27, 2021:

Brilliantly written and with much thought and insightfulness. Your writing has improved tremendously! Yes, it is useless to harbour old thoughts and worries, yet it is a part of growing and we are at different places in this colourful life. An exquisite article!

Devika Primić (author) from Dubrovnik, Croatia on June 27, 2021:

Hi Bill thank you very much for stopping by. I appreciate that you commented.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on June 27, 2021:

I don't spend time thinking about what I should have done in the past. That, to me, is a complete waste of time. I deal with the now, what I can change now, and I deal with the future tomorrow. It works well for me.

Love the message in this article, my friend.
