Doing, Giving and Enjoying

How would you answer the question, “What is life about?”.

When asked some people stutter for a few seconds then come up with answers like:
My life is about work.
My life is about my family.
My life is about having a good time.

And the list goes on.

Still others shrug their shoulders the ask a question of their own, “Is life about anything?”

The book of Proverbs tells us that life is more then just waking up and breathing life into a new day. We are for here a purpose. What we choose to believe will determine our purpose in life. Also everything we do affects others in both good and bad ways depending on how we view our purpose for this life.

So, what is life truly about?

Life is About Doing

Proverbs 3:27, says, "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it."

Many people get this one wrong. They think life is about sitting around waiting for someone to help them out. Life is not about sitting around life is about getting up off of your butt, going out the door and doing what needs to be done in order to help others out.

And don't try to use the excuse you don't know anyone who needs help because Proverbs reminds us that if you look hard enough you can find at least one person in need of help. Or if you feel inclined go to your local mission they will not turn you down if you volunteer to help. Oh yeah, don't forget your own family. Take the time to help those in need who are closest to you.

Life is About Giving

Proverbs 11:24 says, "One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want."

This one goes hand in hand with life is about doing. Have you noticed how the Christmas holiday has changed over the years. People are buying more and more stuff to give away. This may seem like a good thing but it isn't. Why are they buying all the stuff in the first place? Because the recipients of the present are expecting to get more and more stuff. Each year the bar is raised.

Proverbs reminds us life is not about buying because people are expecting to get more gifts. Life is about giving, not presents, but yourself. Each of us can do at least one thing well. We need to take our gifts and use them to help those around us. You will see how good feel when you help someone. And the good news you won't have to max out your credit cards. Everything you give away is free.

Life is About Enjoying

Proverbs 17:22 says, "A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

How much do you enjoy your life. If you're like most people out there you're to busy running around doing things to really enjoy life. What you need to do is go into to an over workers anonymous group. Yes there are groups for people who are chronic workaholics.

Again Proverbs reminds us you don't need a group. All you need to do is re-evaluate your life an allot some time for relaxing. You know it has been proven the more you relax and enjoy life the longer you will live. The generation before ours , depending on how old your are, lived longer because they lived life at a slower pace. Try it sometime you might find you like it. Also the more you do for others and the more you give away in time and maybe in money the better you feel inside and the more you enjoy life.

So there have it, What is life all about? It is about, doing, giving and enjoying. It's your choice.

This is true whittwrite. The more we become concerned about others well being, the better life becomes. learning how to enjoy life and remembering to give of ourselves, is key to living in this life.

I wish mine was a little busier in the helping part.

Personally our lives have slowed to a snails pace. Which I don't care for but at the moment there's nothing I can do about it.

Voted up and interesting.
