What Happens When You Have White Bumps in Your Throat?

In this article you are going to find out what happens in your body when you have white bumps in your throat.

The area that these white bumps in your throat appear are called tonsils. They are a part of the immune system and they filter out all harmful viruses, bacteria, cells and particles from your lymph fluid.

If any foreign particle that is harmful, tries to enter the body via the mouth, it ends up getting killed and removed in the tonsils. It could be a virus, a bacteria, an allergen, or any other particle such as a toxin or a chemical. The tonsils have a high number of antibodies and other defense systems that attacks and consume these particles. The tonsils are the watchers at the gate to the rest of the body, because if the virus or bacteria is able to get past the tonsils the infection will spread elsewhere in the body.

When the tonsils remove dangerous particles they produce waste material that needs to be put somewhere. The dead cells, bacteria, viruses, chemicals, and other substances that make up this waste are generally white in color and are placed in something called the tonsil crypts. These are hollow formations where waste can be placed and will later make its way down to the stomach and out.

The white bumps that you see in your throat are byproducts of your tonsils fighting an invasion of some sort. It doesn't have to be an infection. It could be a particle that is harmful to the body that is being filtered out, such as something you are being allergic to.

The type of invasion or infection as well as the condition of your tonsils determine the consistency of the waste. If you have strong and healthy tonsils, and a virus infection enters your body via your mouth, this waste will most certainly be clear or lightly white and make its way out of your body with ease. However, if your tonsils are under active, the waste can be more 'thick'.

When these white bumps are hard, it's more likely that the tonsils are trying to remove substance or particles that comes from the food you are eating.
