Losing Weight Journey

Like thousands of other people, I want to lose weight. I have never really been the person to worry too much about my weight. I have always been athletic and skinny. Unfortunately, I am here to say that the time has come to start losing weight. I know many of you also struggle with your weight.

In 2013-2016 study through the CDC, (Center of Disease Control) 49.3% of people in the United States tried losing weight. A higher percentage of women tried losing weight than men. The most common two ways that people try losing weight is from exercising and eating less food. Seems pretty easy and self-explanatory. However, it is a lot harder than it seems for some people.

This article may give you motivation plus weight loss tips. Tonight I watched the television show "The Biggest Loser." I do not want to end up begging to be on that show. Although I love to watch it, sometimes I worry that if I don't lose weight soon, I will be praying for help like all those Biggest Loser contestants.

Hopefully, I will be back to my healthy, athletic, and skinny self after I lose weight.

Weight Loss Updates

Goal Weight: 150lbs or less

(Weight Loss Goal Completed April 18th, 2014) 149lbs.

Update: January 2014- almost there: 158lbs! (Note to self: No more Soda Tammy)

Yikes- Starting weight in January 2011- 175lbs.

Weight in April 2012 at Age 30 is 179lbs. (Not doing so great on weight loss since started working from home full time.)

Weight in Dec. 2012- Down to 172lbs. Yes, I am on a roll now losing weight. It helps when you exercise for sure.

2015-2019 - I didn't worry about my weight. (Not recommended)

2017-2019 - My Weight was back up to 167 lbs.

2020 -Age 39. Weight is back down to 147 lbs. I no longer drink Soda Daily. Maybe a coke twice a month. I drink Tea and Coffee now. Read my weight loss journey below.

Weight Loss Tips

Weight Loss Tips that I have learned so far!

Take small steps to your weight loss goal.

Lose weight by drinking water instead of soda and sweet drinks.

Lose weight by exercising, not starving. Eat foods that help build muscle. Try to avoid bread, sweets, packaged foods, mayonnaise, potatoes, snacks, and pasta.

It isn't going to be easy. However, it is possible to lose weight.

Everyone has their own body type plus everyone has their favorite foods that probably don't help with their weight loss goals. My favorite drink that keeps me from losing weight is Mountain Dew. I drink Mountain Dew like it is water.

I know from experience that I need to stop drinking soda and start drinking water. I don't hate or love water. However, I will drink it if I have to. So if you have a favorite food or drink that you know is not helping you lose your weight, then you need to stop or slowly decrease your intake of that food or drink.

Things I Have Changed Since I Started My Weight Loss Journey.

I have been slowing down on my soda consumption. Believe me, that is hard to do when I am used to drinking a 2 liter of Mountain Dew or 12 pack every day for 10 years. I have cut that down to half two liters a day, which is still way too much soda for the human body.
I have been doing 50 sit-ups every night with my daughter before she goes to bed. We take turns holding each other's legs while we complete our daily exercise.
To help lose weight, I have also been eating far fewer sweets and greasy foods.

Things I Plan to Change to Help Meet My Weight Loss Goal!

If I work part-time, I have time to exercise at a local gym. I am trying to determine if I want a membership at the local fitness club or try out Snap Fitness. The great thing about the local fitness club is that I will be able to take my family there. The great thing about Snap Fitness is that I will be able to go exercise when my daughter is in school or sleeping because it is a 24/7 fitness club. Snap fitness also fits better with my financial exercise budget.
Well, I hope I didn't bore everyone with my weight loss journey. I am excited to lose weight. Hopefully, this article gives you some weight loss motivation and exercise tips.

Weight Loss Update 2014

Wow, what a journey. It took me so long to complete my weight loss goal. It is now April 18th, 2014. My weight is 149 lbs. I did it!

It has been since 2011 that I wrote this article on my weight loss goals. I could have done it sooner now that I know it can be done. The important thing is I completed my goal.

Words of encouragement to all of you looking to lose weight, "Don't give Up" !! It may seem impossible sometimes to lose those extra pounds of unwanted fat, it is possible. Remember, never give up and learn from the steps you take towards your goal.

For example, I knew I needed to slow down on drinking so much Mountain Dew. It just took me a while to actually be consistent with it. I also knew that the more active I was, the more pounds I would eventually shed.

I am not going to start all over and pig out on sodas or certain foods. I still want to lose more weight. My weight loss goal will continue until I am at a more healthy weight.

Tip to losing weight: STAY ACTIVE AND EAT REASONABLY! Find an active sport or task you like and continue being active.

2014 Weight is 147 lbs.

You will do great. I will even do it with you. I just need to do a before picture. Once you completely cut out the mt dew you will feel so much better just from that alone. Good luck.

Tammy, good luck in your endeavors to lose those unwanted pounds. Two pounds in 3 days is actually a little too much too soon. I was always told that a pound a week is closer to the ideal weight loss rate for it to be a more healthy weight loss.

I've always been a blimp myself so I understand how hard it is struggling with weight.

Not boring at all, Tammy! Two pounds lost in 3 days is actually pretty amazing. My situation is similar to yours - skinny my whole life until the last couple of years and I finally said enough is enough and started Weight Watchers a few months ago - I'm down 20 pounds in 17 weeks; I have about 15 more to go but feel confident that it'll happen! Good luck to both of us!
