10 Natural Remedies for Acne that Really Work

Natural ways to get rid of acne at home!

Let me take time to talk about a few very effective acne remedies that you can prepare from the comfort of your home using the readily available ingredients. One important advantage of these recipes is that they are very safe and leaves no side effects compared to the pharmaceutical drugs, pills or creams that treat acne. In addition, they are also very cheap and the ingredients you use are obtained from the kitchen. Therefore, besides helping you get rid of acne, these treatments cuts down on your cost of spending hundred dollars on the ant acne creams. Even for very sensitive skins, these natural homemade recipes cannot cause any irritation or inflammation. This is one way of the best and most affordable way of getting rid of acne without use of those harmful and irritating chemicals that can damage your skin permanently.

If you ask me, I will advise you to use one of these home remedies for curing acne at a time; please never mix them.

1. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a very effective herbal remedy for not only acne but for treating many skin as well as hair conditions. Tea tree oils has antibacterial and antiseptic properties that assist in fighting bacteria that causes acne as well as reduce stinging, redness and itching of the skin. One good thing about tea tree oil is that it has no side effects and performs its role of eliminating acne the same as benzol peroxide does.

2. Aloe Vera

Hundreds of aloe Vera grow naturally all over the world and are known to contain medicinal properties. Aloe Vera gel possesses soothing as well as cooling effects on acne sores. Besides, aloe Vera is known as a natural antibiotic. You can prepare this natural remedy to use it for eliminating acne by taking a whole aloe Vera leaf and cut it into two pieces and let the yellow latex to drain. Drain the gel and keep it in the refrigerator for future. Apply the gel on the affected area. Aloe Vera eliminates acne by immediately soothing the skin and is also a mild anti-inflammatory. Besides, it is a natural antibiotic and thus cleans the skin as well as killing the bacteria that cause acne.

3. Turmeric

Use a mixture of mint and turmeric to apply to your skin. Simply extract juice from fresh mint leaves and combine it with turmeric powder to form a paste. Use this paste on your face or affected area and leave it for about 15 minutes before rinsing off with clean water. This mixture is very effective and you will realize great changes in your looks within a few weeks of using it.

4. Lemon Juice and Rose Water

A mixture of lemon juice and rosewater is said to among the most effective homemade remedies for acne treatment. The mixture is preparing by combining fresh lemon juice with rosewater in equal proportions. Apply the mixture on your face or the affected area and leave it to stay for about 5 to 10 minutes before washing it off with clean lukewarm water. Repeat treating your face of any affected part of your skin this mixture on a daily basis until you start seeing positive changes.

6. Natural Clays

Masks made with natural clay soils have proved effective in getting rid of acne. The natural clay mask acts perfectly for oily as well as acne-prone skin types. Besides helping in fighting acne, clay masks are used as skin cleansers as well as skin detoxifiers. Bentonite, rhassoul, sea clay, and Kaolin are some of the commonly used natural clays in clearing acne. Bentonite clay is my favorite. To use, simply mix one part of the clay with 2 parts water and one part apple cider vinegar; apply on your skin and let sit for at least 30 minutes before washing it off. Repeat the procedure at most two times a week for better results. In case you experience a little skin breakout when using the clay mask for the first time, do not worry and just keep on using it as this effect is due to the impurities that are drawn out by the clay. Your skin will improve after using it severally.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is among the best as well as effective herbal remedies for many skin conditions including acne treatment. Simply mix apple cider vinegar with water in the ratio of 2:3 and use a clean piece of cotton to apply it on your skin directly. You should use a completely organic apple cider vinegar. You will realize great improvements in the appearance of your skin after a short period of time.

7. Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is popularly known for its ability to reduce excess sebum in the skin. In addition, it serves as a natural moisturizer as well as a soothing agent. Although your skin requires sebum, excess of it will lead to acne formation on your skin. Thus jojoba oil plays a very crucial role of reducing sebum and as a result prevents formation of acne. Simply apply jojoba oil on your skin at least twice per day for better results.

8. Neem

Neem is among the best skin herbs on this planet. If you are eating the right meals that are needed for acne prevention, neem will quite of great importance to your skin when it comes to fighting acne. Neem is normally taken in as in form of tea; you can either buy tea bags of neem or buy raw neem herbs and prepare your own tea. At least drink a glass of neem tea per day and you will notice great changes within a small period.

9. Aspirin

Crush a few tablets of the standard aspirin into powder and add water to make a loose paste. Apply the aspirin paste on the affected area each evening before retiring to bed; leave it to stay overnight and wash in the morning. Great improvements in your skin appearance will be noticed after a short period.

10. Baking Soda

Baking soda is popularly known for its effectiveness in clearing pimples and acne. It contains sodium bicarbonate which is responsible for getting rid of acne from your skin. It reduces the red marks as well as wrinkles on the skin leaving it clear, smoother and looking younger. Due to the fact that sodium bicarbonate in the baking soda is pH neutral, the baking soda can be used as a hair wash, toothpaste, a pain soother as well as an odor eliminator. Besides, it exfoliates the skin and thus getting rid of the uppermost layers of the skin which is usually dead cells. You must take precautions when using baking soda in that you only use it externally; do not ingest it. The most disturbing side effect of baking soda is that it brings about excessive dryness of the skin and leaves a little burning sensation in the area applied. Besides, baking soda can also lighten your skin if applied consistently.

Just as any other skin treatment, not all natural home remedies for acne are ideal for every skin type. Some people are still allergic to natural ingredients such as those used in preparation of the above remedies. Therefore, it is recommended that you always carry out a patch test on a small part of your skin before applying it all over the affected area. Besides, these natural homemade remedies for acne are meant to cure and treat mild acne but not severe acne like cystic acne. For severe acne, please contact your dermatologist for treatment.

Hello Archie,

I feel so sorry for your condition. It's frustrating to have acne that seems not to respond to any medication.

I am not sure if natural methods would help you get rid of acne because you've stated that 12 doctors have been unable to help. However natural methods are among the most effective ways of getting rid of acne. First of all I would advise you never to harass your face -don't force them to go away,be patient and follow the instructions of each method described in this article and you're sure to notice the changes. My advise:

Drink lots of pure water

Use mild soap to clean your face -do not use cleansers

clean your face just twice per day -never overwash it! and remember to use your hands, not some rough towels

eat the right diet -fruits and veggies mostly

Try other ways mentioned in the article. All the Best!

Hi Chloe,Thank you for reading my article. I like using natural products to get rid of pimples and acne. Please try out the following effective remedies to see if it will help:

1. Oil cleaning in the evening:Get your oil mixture, washcloth, and a hand towel.

Wet face with warm water.

Pour about 1/2 teaspoon of oil (quarter size amount) into your palm and rub hands together.

Rub fingers gently over your face in small circles for 30 seconds to 2 minutes to allow the oil to penetrate. Concentrate on areas with blocked pores.

Wet hand towel with just below scalding water, wring out, and fold up to keep the heat in.

Quickly wet the washcloth with super-hot-but-doesn't-burn-your-face-off water, wring it out, and spread it over your face.

Cover the washcloth with the towel to seal in the steam and to keep the washcloth from cooling right away. This is key.

Leave on until the towel and washcloth have cooled to about room temperature and then wipe your face with the washcloth.

Repeat 1-2 more times, but use the clean towel to wipe your face the second and optional third time.

Voila! You have oil cleansed. There should be a thin layer of oil still on your skin to balance and protect.

If skin feels tight after, it is recommended to rub a small amount of the cleansing oil in. I prefer to use a food-grade skin balm or hydrating oil.

2. Honey Cleansing in the morning:

Take about 1/2 teaspoon of the honey on your fingers. Warm it between your fingers. Add just a few drops of water if necessary to make a spreadable consistency. Smooth it gently on your face.

Rinse off with warm water and pat your face dry. If you have time, you’ll get the best results by leaving the thin layer of honey on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing.

Finish with patting a toner on your face for best results. You can make your own by mixing 2 Tbs. raw apple cider vinegar with 1/2 cup of water or aloe vera and putting this in a jar or spray bottle. I also recommend witch hazel toner.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar Toner for Acne

Mornings and evenings, I spray my face with a mixture of 2/3 alcohol free which hazel and 1/3 raw apple cider vinegar. The apple cider contains gentle exfoliating acids to calm acne and it balances the skin’s pH. It also allows my homemade facial oil to absorb quickly and evenly.

4. Homemade Acne Facial Oil

I fill a 1 oz. jar with jojoba oil then add a few drops of carrot seed oil, 3 drops of geranium oil and 3 drops of lavender oil.

I just moisten my face with the toner, warm a few drops of this oil mixture between my fingertips and massage lightly onto my face. As a bonus, it feels like a quick aromatherapy treatment.

natural acne cure, natural acne treatment. Honey, Cinnamon and Nutmeg Spot Treatment

If you ever visit my house without giving me prior warning, you might just see me walking around with dots of gooey cinnamon on my zits. This is my normal routine ever since discovering that this mask makes a super effective spot treatment.

I mix raw honey with enough cinnamon to form a paste, add some freshly grated nutmeg, and store it in a small container in my bathroom. I’ll leave this spot treatment on for a couple of hours. If you want to use it as a full face mask, leave it on for only 10-15 minutes.

6. Acupuncture for Acne and Hormone Balance

UPDATE: Imbalanced hormones were absolutely the main cause behind my acne and cystic acne. After many, many hours of research and self-experimentation, I have learned how to balance my hormones naturally through dietary, lifestyle and supplemental changes.

All the best!
