Meditation has benefited me in maturing and letting go of old, unhealthy habits. I became more focused and calmer. Meditation also helped me in overcoming depression and ADHD. I’ve struggled with depression for practically my whole life. I want to go over some of the benefits, applications, and a YouTube channel that have helped me improve my life.

Here are ten potential benefits of meditation that can help you in your daily life:

Once I started doing meditation for the past three months, I felt a massive difference in myself. Once I wake up in the morning, I stretch, make sure I won’t get distracted, and start meditating. I get up early in the morning while my children are asleep and again later in the afternoon. My everyday routine is based on two apps and also a YouTube channel. I change things up to avoid boredom and to maintain focus.

Here are the two apps and a YouTube page I use for meditation:

  • MyLife Meditation: Mindfulness

This app asks you how you are emotionally and physically. It demonstrates the results of various meditations that you can perform, guided journaling, and other programs that can help with anxiety and sleeping. You can try the 7-day trial, and after the trial ends, you can pay monthly or a yearly subscription.

• Headspace

I use Headspace after I put my children down for a nap in the afternoon. My children can be challenging to manage and will not always let me meditate, so I wait until nap time. This app teaches you how to meditate, tracks your progress, and provides various playlists to help you focus. There are some free sections in this app, as well as monthly and yearly premium subscriptions.

YouTube Channel I recommend:

  • The Honest Guys

When I had a job interview in 2018, I was extremely nervous, and I was sitting in my car looking for a YouTube video to help me relax and be more grounded. That’s when I came across The Honest Guys. When I searched for a 5-minute relaxation video, their YouTube channel came up, and I decided to give it a shot. Their voices were very soothing once I started listening, and I enjoyed their background music. After watching the video, I felt more grounded and less nervous. I decided to subscribe, and they’re also available on Spotify, which I connect to my Alexa Echo Dot and listen to their playlist when I’m not using the other two apps.

These two apps, and the YouTube channel, are highly recommended. Meditation can be difficult, but start small and work your way up. Expecting to be good on the first try is unrealistic; it takes time and practice. You will notice a significant difference in yourself once you get there. Mental health is essential, and sometimes you need some alone time to regroup. But don’t give up; keep going and take things one day at a time.
