The Conscientious I Developed From Empathetic Feelings

I am a teenage amateur writer. Just trying to make my way through random things that keep me busy and away from my anxiety

The words sympathy and empathy

So while growing up we may come across a lot of new people and experiences, and it is important that we try to understand what they bring to our table. I think that sympathy and empathy have special importance in our life. It is a noteworthy point that some people think of sympathy and empathy as the same; this belief isn't correct. I think knowing the relevant significance and understanding these emotions such as apathy, sympathy, empathy and compassion is required for a better response to everyday conversations. In this article, I am going to stress the meaning of words; sympathy and empathy.

The image depicts the differences between various emotions such as apathy, sympathy, empathy and compassion.

Sympathy is when you understand and give a relevant response to an action or some situation but lack a genuine attitude.

For example, imagine a situation where John and Kevin are friends. John tells Kevin about his sibling's death, in response, Kevin says he is sorry for john's loss and that he will make sure that he is there to make him feel better. Here Kevin is not genuinely sad over the demise of his friend's sibling, because there are already things going on in his life. So, he half-heartedly ensured his friend that he will be there for him even though he knows; it would not be possible for him.

Empathy is when you respond and understand a situation in a genuine way and try your best to put yourself in other person's shoes.

Let's bring back the example of the two friends john and kevin , John's sibling is no more and kevin has his own problems he needs to deal with. But this time; kevin genuinely understands John's situation both physically and mentally, he cries his eyes out ; grieves over his friend's sibling's demise and might also come up with situable ways to be a mental support to John when he is in need.

How I became conscientious about my feelings

As we develop our insight and try to understand the world around us more clearly . I understood that everything takes efforts and we must be understanding enough to appreciate the people around us even for the simplest things. So, I went from someone who used to cringe at the people who cried for others pain to the person to finds herself crying seeing others going through a rough time. These days I relate to the content I see on the internet and I am not shy to say that I love to empathize with people and understand their point of view by putting myself in their shoes. I always tried to be right in my doings but even though I am not sure if; I have succeeded but, I believe that I did my best to become a good person who binds herself to say words of kindness and be gentle to people. It is a part of growing up and becoming a mature individual. By understanding the meaning of these two words thoroughly; I understood that it is a must to bring these emotions into our everyday life and to try and understand that we are all going through the same situation, and by being empathetic we can help people around us and be more conscientious.

Empathy has no script. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. It’s simply listening, holding space, withholding judgment, emotionally connecting, and communicating that incredibly healing message of ‘You’re not alone.’
