The Fastest & Best Way To Recover From A Hangover..

Feeling rough?

Well if you have found this page then odds on you're either hungover now, or are planning on being hungover. I feel a bit hungover right now while writing this. Anyway the idea of this article is to tell you how to help a hangover.

Help me.. This is exactly how a hangover feels!

Before you start

This part isn't really going to help if you're suffering right now, but this is what you should have done last night, before hitting the alcohol so let's pretend we've gone back in time, or maybe remember some of this before the next night drinking.

Make sure you've had a shower and have some clean pants on. Always important.

Before you get on the booze, then make sure you've had some food. If it's fatty, it's good. This is because fatty food sticks to the stomach lining, so it slows the absorption of alcohol. This gives your body more time to deal with the alcohol and all the other stuff that's in there. Something like a burger beforehand will help give you more intestinal fortitude for the night ahead and will help your hangover the following morning, but also mean that you're not passed out on the toilet or something an hour into the night.

Have a bite to eat before you drink

To help stop this happening

Fun + Hydration = Less Hangover

Try to drink some water while you're out. Ideally if you can do it, then have a glass of water between alcoholic drinks, or at least between every couple of drinks or so. Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it makes your body lose more fluid than you're taking in, so for every pint you take in, you lose just over a pint. Dehydration is a major part of a hangover.

This is why it's important to keep your water intake up during the night out. It isn't that hard to do when you get used to it and it stops you from waking up the next day feeling like a dried up prune with a sticky mouth and a pounding headache. Also make sure you down a pint or so of water before you go to sleep. This isn't easy if you pass out due to tiredness or drunkenness, but if you can do it, then you'll feel a lot better the next day.

A hangover is caused by dehydration and the accumulation of toxins in your system, but if you can stay hydrated, then it will help a lot.

A decent sleep is the only thing that really gets rid of a hangover. The longer you sleep, the better it is. Wake up every now and again for a bit of a drink, then pass out again.

The morning after

Wake up, groan, drink some water then go back to sleep. This is the best thing that you can do to get over it, sleeping gives your body the best chance of getting rid of all the badness. When you do eventually wake and have to get up, then groaning and shuffling slowly down the stairs in your underwear always works for me as a way to start the day.

Good morning!

The next day continued

When you eventually get up, then drink a pint of water and a pint of orange juice mixed together, with a pinch of salt mixed in. Don't gulp it in one, sip it slowly over a few minutes, until it's all gone down. This is quite a lot of liquid to take in, but the water, sugar and salt is what your body is crying out for after a night of drinking so give it what it needs.

This is the best cure for a hangover there is, well this and floating in the sea obviously. If you can go back to sleep after doing this, then great, if not then the best thing to do is get some breakfast, then go and ask your friends exactly what you did last night.

Hi Rain defence. I just read a comment of yours on a Nell Rose hub, and it made me laugh so much I thought I´d check you out. I am not a big drinker, in fact hardly touch the stuff, and so when I have indulged I get really bad hangovers, and it doesn´t take much for me to succomb as I´m just not used to boozing. I will keep this info in mind though for the next time I´m out with Spanish friends and drink more than is good for me, and also so I can help them with their hangovers.

Wow, that is a hilarious picture. If only the whistle pig had read this earlier the outcome might have been different.

megni, you never know I may just write that! The state of a couple of people in these photos is not a great state to be in. I can't imagine what the two that have passed out while attempting to use the toilet will have felt like after waking up from their positions.

And one you missed, A Hub alcohol control

Sorry, I just had to get that one in.
