Brain Health Is Critical.

Your Brain is one of the the most important organs in your body and is responsible for breathing, moving, heart and lung function, thinking and processing and so much more. It is critical for a healthy you and is working 24hrs a day.

In the last few years there has been a vast amount of research into health programs and how to help people to reach their personal fitness goals. In this search helpful information has also been discovered about the right kinds of foods to eat and how these foods can affect our brain health. We have discovered that many foods are detrimental to our brains and we also know now various foods that will help keep our brains healthy and functioning well. Here are some of the worst foods you can eat and that you should avoid if you want to decrease your risk of memory problems and early onset dementia.

Sugar Filled Drinks Affect Our Memory

An article in the N York times disclosed that a new study found that sugary drinks are associated with early signs of Alzheimers and also accelerated ageing. Sodas are some of the most popular sugar filled drinks consumed every day. Fruit juices that are often sold as healthy drinks are also high in sugar.

Processed Meats And Fats

Processed meats and fats are known to have chemically modified versions of fats in them. Many of these foods not only cause inflammation and problems in our bowels they can even promote cancer growth. Rachel Batterham Professor of obesity, diabetes and endocrinology at University College said a study found a link between processed foods in our western diet and impairment of memory. It would be a better to eat fresh meats and snacks that you make yourself with no additives in the ingredients. It’s best to eat as little of these foods as possible in our daily diet.

Aspartame Is Bad For Brain Health

Asparteme a chemical often included in many drinks can be harmful to our brain health. Aspartame causes the levels of phenylalanine and aspartic acid to rise in the brain. These acids can prevent the use and release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. These hormones and neurotransmitters are important in the regulation of feelings and mood and other brain activity. Asparteme is one of the early sweeteners that became available to the public and is now used in many foods and drinks. In testing Asparteme has been shown to produce depression, irritability and oxidative stress in the brains of the test animals.

Processed Carbohydrates

Processed carbohydrates (cakes, pastries, white bread, white pasta, white rice) are usually digested and processed in your body very quickly after you eat them. This results in a major surge of blood sugar levels. This then triggers the release of a hormone called insulin. Insulin lets blood glucose into cells which can then be used for energy. When this happens too often, it can slowly cause damage to your organs because your body can’t work efficiently when it’s always going between extremes of high and low blood sugar levels. A rapid fall in blood sugars can lead to brain fog.
