It's Legal Now (In Most Countries)
I have to first say I was a little hesitant to write about marijuana, weed, Maryjane, or whatever your preferred name for the weed may be. I've always used weed, sometimes grass, but if it's good weed/grass, who really cares what it's called, right?
Anyway, as I sit here looking over the vastness we call cyberspace, I can feel the presence of those who enjoy the occasional toke, as you sit staring at your phone screens, your laptop screens, heck, some of you may even have them turned on!
As you sit there, torn between wondering if you should fire up another, or go to the fridge and grab a snack, the world still turns, and time goes by, and it is then you have lost your train of thought, and have to rewind!
The Usual Vision
Many people visualize a hippie type, hiding in a dark room, or an alleyway, smoking a joint, getting high, and causing havoc by stealing to "feed their habit". That is the vision of the uninformed, and yet in this day and age you wouldn't think there would be that many people who are uninformed.
There are people in the United States Congress, that actually have this vision, or so we must believe when they refuse to legalize weed for even medicinal purposes. Saying silly things such as, "it's a gateway drug" The only thing I ever found smoking weed was it lead to large bouts of hunger and an empty fridge afterward.
Marijuana is legal in Canada for both medicinal and recreational use, and so far I haven't heard of any overdoses! :) yet there have been a few recent posts on a certain Social Media site to the contrary... unproven, but still...
Cannabis, It's Not Just For Hippies and Druggies Anymore
Somewhere, someone, found that taking cannabis and creating an edible oil has healing properties. The list is long and varied, but most of the claims that have been made, many have been scientifically proven. I and my wife both use CBD oil, we use it for the control and relief of pain. It does work, and the CBD oil we use does not get you high, because the oil we buy contains little THC, the ingredient which gives you the high. Although CBD oil can be bought with THC in it, in varying strengths.
The below is an article (I didn't write it) that outlines the medicinal value of CBD oil, and no I am not trying to sell you anything!
Cannabis contains CBD which is a chemical that impacts the brain, making it function better without giving it a high along with THC which has pain-relieving properties...read more
Be Careful Passing That Joint Around
Now many places have legalized weed for both medicinal and recreational use. I'm long past the recreational use, but there was a time! I remember my friends and I getting together in the evenings after we finished work, and we'd have a beer or two and a few joints between us.
On one particular occasion, we were passing a joint between us, and when it came to me I went to take a toke off the joint and thought it had gone out. So I relit it and passed it along, when suddenly I had a searing pain in my right boot, and when I looked down, there was smoke coming from my boot. Apparently, the end of the joint had actually fallen in my boot and caught my sock on fire.
Well, the boys got a laugh, I got a small burn on my foot, and I had a ruined sock, but the best of all, is I got to tell you all a funny story.
The Two Day Challenge
Are You Up For The Challenge?
Well folks, as you can see, the two-day challenge is really no challenge at all. Just a meme I saw and had a great laugh about, but not only a laugh, it gave me pause to think. It made me think of that night my sock caught on fire, it made me think of the misconceptions many still have about weed and its many uses and what some call abuses.
I don't know where you may be on the scale of approval and disapproval, but as long as you take the time to research before you make a hasty decision is all one can ask. My wife and I both approve, but then I always have.
This past year has been a very long year, and it is still continuing, we have reached a point we have to do what is right, what is best for the greater good, even if it inconveniences us a bit. A time to think of others instead of just ourselves.
Many haven't made it to this year, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers, grandmas and grandpas, and sadly even children who never had a chance to really live. It's time to come together, care for one another, and pass a smile, love, and even empathy along for all. Take Care!
