Lose those lbs easily

I have noticed over the last few weeks that my weight has gone up and up. I have always been 8 and a half stone. Not any more! Every time I stood on the scales I noticed that the lbs had started to pile on. First of all it was just a couple of lbs then slowly it started to rise, and to my horror I weighed myself last week and noticed that I was well over 9 stone. Now you may not think that this is very big. But as I am only 5ft 2 inches and a bit, I always add the bit, it does make a difference, I realised that my middle was becoming as big as my height! Well, not quite but you get the point. The trouble is that I don't eat much, just a sandwich at lunchtime and a meal in the evening. So why was I gaining weight? Probably because I tend to work from home these days so I don't get the exercise walking or riding to work, doing a full day and then walking or riding back home. I have always exercised, but obviously as you get older you find that shifting the weight is not so easy. Then one day, out of sheer desperation, I wandered into the health club in my town. To be quite honest, I wasn't holding out much hope of discovering a new exercise that would get rid of my fat, but I lived in hope. As I was about to leave I noticed something called a Fabuloss. I stared at it for a moment and completely baffled I went to the counter and asked what it was. I know that I am a bit slow sometimes and you have all probably heard of it before, but believe me when I say it was new to me. I was told that it was a vibrating machine. I said, a what? A vibration exercise machine. Wow. This sounded my kind of thing.

Vibrating Machines

Vibrate your way to success

Evidently there has been numerous studies to see if the vibration machines do work. The conclusion is that they can definitely help you lose weight. Of course if you are still eating the wrong foods, or eating way too much then you won't see that much difference.

How Do They Work?

The machine was actually first invented for the Russian Space programme. As there isn't any gravity in Space, Astronauts needed something to keep their muscles strong. With no resistance to train with, their muscles would have become very weak. Another problem would have been a loss in bone density. By standing on a vibrating platform, the muscles would have something to work against.

The idea is actually quite simple. By standing on the platform, the muscles within the body will contract to counteract the vibration. it is also good for blood circulation, As the tendons start to stretch, the muscles will contract and even after a short time on the machine, your body will have experienced the same amount of exercise as an hour on any other type of equipment! In other words, ten minutes standing still on a vibrating machine will give you the same benefits as an hour busting a blood vessel on a rowing machine! I like it!

The advantage of the machine is that it is exercising all of your body muscles at once. If you do any other sort of workout, you tend to work on your legs or abs for half an hour then change it to something else. Of course, with the vibrating exercise machine it does help if you do a few gentle movements as you are vibrating. Some people do bends or step ups, others actually sit on it or do weights.

Rehabilitation.

The one really good thing about the vibrating machine is that it can help people after they have experienced an injury. Because it helps to decrease the stress hormone cortisol, the pain caused by tension will be very much improved. It has also been noted that it helps people with poor coordination, posture and long term injury pain. There have been studies that show injury is greatly improved to such an extent, that someone who couldn't walk very far because of back pain, can now walk much farther distances because of using the machine. Evidently the Russian Space programme actually shows the efficacy of the machine by staying in Space for over 400 days compared to other Astronauts who have only managed just over a hundred, because of problems with muscle and bones.

Vibrating Exercise Machine

Always Check Your Health Before Using A Vibrating Machine

Common sense will tell you not to use this machine if you suffer from any debilitating illness. For example, advanced heart disease, diabetes, bad migraines, epilepsy or even if you are pregnant. If in doubt always Consult your Doctor first.

You can actually buy one of these machines for your home but they can be really expensive. As they become more popular they will come down in price. So the best thing to do is go to a gym. There is two advantages for doing this. The first one is that you won't be tempted to use it too often. It should never be used more than once a day. And the second advantage is that it will be much cheaper. I used it for the first time and it only cost me four pounds, which is about six dollars for ten minutes. That may sound too expensive, but if you think about it, you spend twice that for an hours workout on another piece of gym equipment. And you get absolutely worn out too! With the vibrating machine, you can just stand and stare out of the window while the amazing little machine does all the work for you! How about that? My opinion?

Fantastic!

Sonia Sylart from UK on May 15, 2017:

I plan to start using one of these soon and so I appreciate the info you have given here. Being a bit lazy when it comes to exercising, I love the idea of getting the most out of whatever I do in that direction.

Thanks Suzette, I have used it quite a few times, and after about ten minutes, thats all you need! I felt great! and my stomach muscles really pulled in! thanks as always, nell

Hi, Fitness, yes the more you do the better, thanks for reading, cheers nell

Fitness Fitness from Kolkata..India on June 26, 2011:

This hub stated various features of vibrating machine as far as losing weight is concerned. But as far as my experience goes, regular cardio and strength exercise is the better solution. The vibrating machines may complement and accelerate the process.

Hi, vision, thanks so much, cheers nell

Sounds almost too good to be true, but I know it works because even Dr Mercola endorses them. Awesome hub! Thanks for sharing!

fundamentallife on June 23, 2011:

Great work Nell, a vibrating machine is not for me but I can definitely see that they will work for the right people.

AJ..

Christopher Antony Meade from Gillingham Kent. United Kingdom on June 23, 2011:

That is definitely one to think about. I've got one of those vibrating belts. It worked fine for a while, but it is broken now.

Your machines seem to be a good idea.

Thanks for that Nell.

maria sial from united kingdom on June 22, 2011:

i do have vibrating belts and i try them couple of times but its not easy to enjoy that artificial vibration. Any way nice hub and good luck for your weight loss :)

Hi, Mico, nice to see you again, I used to work for Caterpillars! we used to do the paper work! or should I say, computer work! lol but some great ideas! I drink a lot of water, and do walk a lot too, maybe I should take up dancing! lol

Mico on June 05, 2011:

Hi, When you get up have a few glasses of water, before your meals have water. Avoid sugar in drinks and food and eat more salads and fish. Have icy drinks. Walking is a great exercise. Walk a mile a day at least. http://www.micocrane.com/

58.Maggie from Greenville,KY on June 05, 2011:

I have looked for "easy" workouts for myself for a number of years. This sounds to good to be true. I have started mowing grass this year with a riding mower that vibrates my fanny so much my tail gets numb. If the riding mower shows me any help I will have to consider .

Nell Rose (author) from England on May 31, 2011:

Hi, Koffee, it certainly has helped me, I have toned up a little bit, not sure about how much weight I have lost, but my muscles are definitely coming back! lol I will keep on trying it, thanks nell

Hi, Sister Mary, lol yes Ashantina has got the right idea! this is great though as all you do is stand on it, and voila' off come the pounds, I hope! cheers nell

Sister Mary from Isle of Man on April 26, 2011:

Hi Nell Rose

This sounds up my street, not too much hard work and no sweat. But I think Ashantina has given me some new ideas too! I can just see my new sleek, slim-line body and the huge grin on my face!

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 24, 2011:

Hi, Tony, I asked a lot of people about it before I had a go and they all said that they had lost weight, in fact one woman said her daughter had lost two stone after using if for a while, I think it has to be used for a while though, and it's great for toning the body, cheers nell

Hi, Leptirela, thanks very much! lol cheers nell

Leptirela from I don't know half the time on April 24, 2011:

awesome will apply

Tony Worth from Sunshine Coast, Australia on April 23, 2011:

So has anyone actually bought one and had it work for them ?? The idea sounds great but how practical are they ? ?

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 22, 2011:

Thanks Felix, and Weber for your comments, I really appreciate it, cheers nell

Hi, Tamila, thanks for reading it, I am not sure exactly what you meant about tall? cheers nell

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 22, 2011:

Hi, kim, the best way to use the machine is to exercise while you are on it, it makes the muscles in your body work better and more often, leading to increase in muscle contractions, so therefore helping to lose the weight, I am going to try the exercise with it and see if it works, thanks nell

Tamila Roberts from Canada on April 22, 2011:

Thanks! We probably should test that during the training exercises to grow taller.

Weber Genesis E320 on April 22, 2011:

Thanks for the great idea

Felix Wilcox on April 21, 2011:

One thing I want to discuss is that fat reduction plan fast can be carried out by the appropriate diet and exercise. An individual's size not only affects appearance, but also the quality of life. Self-esteem, melancholy, health risks, in addition to physical skills are damaged in weight gain. It is possible to just make everything right and at the same time having a gain. Should this happen, a problem may be the culprit. While excessive food but not enough physical exercise are usually to blame, common medical ailments and key prescriptions can greatly increase size. Thx for your post here.

Kim Harris on April 21, 2011:

This is great, Nell. I didn't even believe the title, but I came in and read it anyway! I want one! Cortisol has to do with belly fat and that's what I've been struggling with. I wonder if just my massage mat would do the trick or if it has to be a vigorous massage. Thanks for the info, Nell.

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 20, 2011:

Hi, Peggy, I remember them too! lol I hope this one works, I will give it a go for a few weeks and see!

Hi, mortgage-news, thanks for commenting, if it makes me lose weight, I will keep on using it! thanks nell

mortgage-news from Los Angeles, CA on April 20, 2011:

This was a really great find. Thanks for sharing! It's certainly the EZ button for weight loss!

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on April 20, 2011:

Haha! This reminds me of that machine my parents had when I was a teenager. My mother and I used to stand with that vibrating belt slung around our rear ends thinking that it helped as it vibrated. I have no idea if it had any impact or not, but we used it religiously thinking that it did. :))) Interesting that the same theory is still around today. Thanks for telling us about this new version.

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 19, 2011:

Hi, thanks everyone for reading it, I am a bit behind tonight so I will be back tomorrow, Randy, that's great! as long as it firms me up a bit and stops the wobble I don't mind! lol

Randy Behavior from Near the Ocean on April 19, 2011:

Nell I have a vibrational platform, and while its not as effective as P90X it does firm me up. I liken it to riding a horse at a trot. It takes all your muscles to just stay on the horse even though he's supposed to be doing the work!

lyfanna from USA on April 19, 2011:

Good idea, Good for fitness, it seem that after off duty, i can go and have a try.

aleesya hanee on April 18, 2011:

i think u should eat white mmushroom....see it advantages

Hey Nell: Fat and lazy are my keywords. I'm going to order the chair model for sitting at the computer. Two hours of butt shaking gotta help a fat arse. LOL. Great info and article. The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" would furnish great background music. Cheers.

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 11, 2011:

Hi, pan, I know just what you mean! lol thanks for reading it, cheers nell

Hi, Polly, ha ha I would do that but my washing machine tends to shimmy itself! all around my kitchen! but I'll give it a try!

Hi, Dexis, I don't mind if it sticks the fat somewhere else, just not on my belly! ha ha thanks

Hi, mysterylady, glad you liked it, and thanks

mysterylady 89 from Florida on April 11, 2011:

I love anything easy! I don't have a weight problem now, but when I do (as I have in the past), I'll give it a try. Thanks for an interesting hub, Nell!

Dexi from New England on April 11, 2011:

Your hub gave me a good laugh. These shaking machines have been around for years. I remember I babysat for a woman..nearly 30 years ago...who used a standing shaker. I don't think it ever made a differece..lol! Maybe it breaks up and spreads it out more evenly :) You'll have to re-post when you've shaken it up Nell and let us know how you did. Best of luck~

Pollyannalana from US on April 11, 2011:

Do you have a washer, jump om during the spin outs, if there's any fat it will get shimmied and you can just read a book, well if it don't shimmy too much too! My aunt claims lots of water took her belly away, pan. I hate sit ups!

April Seldon from New Orleans on April 10, 2011:

I need to get something to get rid of my little pooch belly.

Nell Rose (author) from England on April 09, 2011:

Hi, kafsoa, I hope it works too, I will give it a go, and hope the pounds soon fall! lol thanks nell

Hi, Polly, just keep shimmying! lol I have tried belly dancing and now the vibration plate, somethings gotta work! thanks

Pollyannalana from US on April 09, 2011:

Those shimmies are great, I used to use the lady's I baby sat for before I got married and I didn't weigh 100 lbs,,,hope that doesn't mean 100 stones!

Hi, BMG, thanks for reading, it is a great exercise, if you can call standing on a platform looking out the window exercise! ha ha thanks

Hi, Green Lotus, lol how funny is that? I have been doing belly dancing all week in front of the pc! I found a great site that teaches you each movement, the first time I tried it, it was like an elephant in the room! but after a few days I started to shimmy and now I am getting quite good at it! great minds think alike eh? ha ha thanks again, nell

Hi, Tina, I know what you mean, but I was getting fed up of using the washing machine....! hee hee thanks again nell

Hi, lily, yes I do! ha ha I must try one of those, I bet it was hilarious! thanks again nell

Kathi from Saugatuck Michigan on April 07, 2011:

That's amazing stuff! My sister used to run a weight loss shop called Body Design. The customers laid down on vibrating tables and vwa la...that was their exercise for day. The idea was the vibrations heated the body and heat turns fat into liquid and so you pee it out of your system!

pmccray from Utah on April 07, 2011:

Humm . . might be worth a try. I've gained a tremendous amount of weight after the lay off. BUT NOW THAT I'M GAINFULLY EMPLOYED :) I'm back in the saddle again.

Guess what . . I work in a call center where I get the enjoyment of talking to the Brits, Scottish, Irish and Canadians all day. What a treat I find your take on the English language quite refreshing.

Getting back to the subject at hand I think I might have a go at one of these machines. Lord knows my time is no longer my own . . thanks to God. Peace my friend. Great hub (as usual) voted up, marked useful and shared.

Gee, Nell, don't you remember those old pictures of a flabby man with a vibrating belt around his mid-driff, circa 1966? But if it works,,, hey! lily

Going to share w/my daughter! She goes to the gym much as possible, but is so tired it's difficult to do. She's dealing with weight loss, and she and I both (mostly I) have back pain; she might try this. I haven't tried vibration, but jacuzzi jets and electrical stimulation help (altho' the roller-type therapy aggravates it), so vibration might. Thank you for the info. Good piece.

As a person who likes fitness as well, this is a great hub!

Thumbs up!

Ashantina on April 07, 2011:

Ive tried one of these machines before at the gym... all I can say is 'do not sit on it!!' lol

Christopher Antony Meade from Gillingham Kent. United Kingdom on April 06, 2011:

I used to have one of those vibrating belts, to reduce my "Beerbelly". But a Vibraslim seems a much better idea.

Thanks for the info Nell.

thanks Nell, that is the kind of info I like to hear....sounds like fun and easy.
