Using Tea Tree Essential Oil for Health and Cleaning Benefits

I have been using essential oils and aromatherapy to improve my health, immunity, and emotional well-being for years.

Respiratory Health and Illness

Tea tree essential oil is one of the best and most recommended oils to diffuse when suffering from respiratory ailments. This is because tea tree essential oil has powerful antibacterial and antiviral properties. When diffused, this oil kills the bacteria and viruses that may be lingering in the air. Inhaled, the oil naturally reduces nasal congestion and kills germs that cause respiratory illness. These qualities make tea tree oil a must-have during cold and flu season as it is great for protecting against viruses and reduces the severity and length of illness. I personally have benefited from tea tree essential oil during cold and flu season. Since using essential oils aromatically, I have noticed that I do not get sick nearly as often. When I do get sick, my symptoms are less severe, and I am not sick as long.

Oils That Blend Well With Tea Tree

One negative aspect of tea tree essential oil is that it is not the best smelling oil when diffused by itself. Luckily, tea tree essential oil blends well with a variety of other oils to create a more pleasant diffusing experience. Some of the oils that blend well with tea tree are: lemon, lavender, peppermint, bergamot, eucalyptus, lemongrass, grapefruit and spearmint.

Skin Health

In addition to its benefits for respiratory health, tea tree essential oil is excellent in treating and preventing acne. Because of its antibacterial properties, tea tree essential oil kills acne causing bacteria and helps reduce the appearance of acne blemishes and prevents new acne from forming. Simply adding one drop of tea tree essential oil to a cotton swab and applying it to affected areas is all one needs to do. You may also add one drop of tea tree essential oil to your daily cleanser or toner.

Hair and Scalp Health

Another common use of tea tree essential oil is in the treatment of dandruff. Simply adding one drop of oil daily to your shampoo is a simple way to help treat dandruff. In addition, tea tree essential oil also promotes hair growth and helps maintain strong, healthy hair.

A Note About Essential Oil Quality

My Choice for Aromatic Use

Tea tree essential oil is also a great addition to cleaning products because of its natural germ killing properties. Also, since it naturally kills mold, tea tree essential oil is a great choice to use to clean: shower curtains, laundry machines, dishwashers, toilets or any other item that may be susceptible to mold growth.
