Time on Your Hands
Now that you have decided to retire, some things to consider in preparing your retirement journey are to review your financial plans and budget to ensure your finances will be enough to last. Decision on how you are going to fill in your days once the daily grind of nine to five is finished is very important to ensure you enjoy every day.
Give some consideration to ideas such as - the home you are in, is that where you intend to stay? If you are likely going to downsize maybe start the elimination of some possessions that you won’t be taking with you. Give thought to where you want to live – beach, city, or country and begin watching sales in the area you have chosen.
A key to healthy living and having access to good medical resources is a must once you reach retiring age, so consider having a thorough health check and review your health insurance, do you need to update coverage at all? If you intend to move to a different location, ensure medical facilities are adequate.
When you have retired, learning to slow down, coming to terms with the change of routines will take time and, you will possibly miss the camaraderie of your work colleagues too. Once you do adjust, take on new hobbies you will begin to wonder how you ever had time to go to work, you are so busy every day.
Consider these suggestions to fill your days
Travel or buy a caravan and travel
Find a job for one day a week

Planning and Pondering
Another avenue to contemplate is using social media. This platform will allow you to search for groups in your area who may have similar interests to what you are looking for. Facebook and Instagram have very strong support for community groups.
If for some reason you are not up to speed with the internet, the local library normally has free internet and offers free training also. This is a great place to meet new friends also.
The library is also full of information and suggestions that can aid in finding new ventures also. A suggestion if your intent to tell your story is to use the free service offered at your local library, start your blog, get active on Instagram. Who knows, you may become a household name.
Health is an important issue when you retire. Retaining a fitness level is something we must all do – be as fit as possible. If you are unsure of where to go for free fitness groups, check with your local council who should have a list being offered in your area.
Swimming is very beneficial to keep you fit also. Exercising in water is less likely to cause injury or sprains. A great class is water aerobics which is less strenuous than normal aerobics and more suited to retirees. Remember, retirees may be entitled to discounts at sporting facilities.
Perhaps ponder a new craft, can you paint, create, build, or weld. There are so many to choose from and classes in most locations that are available to fill in your days. A trip to the local craft shop will soon have your ideas flowing.
Being retired is a new sense of freedom, each day is filled with whatever you want it to be but whatever you do, enjoy it, after all, you have earned it.
