Reasons to love bald(ing) guys~

Researchers found that men with shaved heads are perceived to be more masculine and dominant, not to mention "on average one inch taller, and able to bench press 15 more pounds than other men," – Eric McLaughlin, ABC News

Balding? "No hair, No problem!"

Balding? "No hair, No problem!"

Well, the perception is maybe because generally, we associate shaved heads with stereotyped masculine professions like police, firefighting, military, sports and even celebrity hunks like Bruce Willis, Pittbull, David Beckham, et al.

Baldness is nature’s gift and I personally think it’s sexy! My hubby is now balding. More often he’s doesn’t fret about it although there are times that he still gets conscious about it. I can’t blame him and I can only assure him that I love him nevertheless. After all, we’ve been together for 26 years now. Mind you, he’s one hairy guy except on his head. So, when that feeling of low self-esteem strikes him, I’d remind him to think of Bruce Willis, Yul Brynner, Vin Diesel or even David Beckham who once made a fashion statement from being skinhead to baldie.

Balding? Hair play! Hair fun!

Balding? Hair play! Hair fun!

Ah, the shine of an emerging bald patch. Well, what’s the big deal to being a baldie and why fret? Accept the fact and be hassle free. As I said, it is a gift of nature. Move on with your life. It isn't the end of the world. After all, bald is clean and beautiful these days and having no hair is extremely easy and carefree!

“All things old become new again. In my youth the athletes had crew cuts and the hippies had long hair. Now the athletes have long hair and the hippies are bald.” - Harley King

Don't you think Bruce Willis is baldie hot?

"Better a bald head than no head at all” - Seamus MacManus

"Better a bald head than no head at all” - Seamus MacManus

Well, of course baldness is not something very pleasant for everyone and much as I personally find it sexy not many men would want to be bald. Now, don’t get me wrong. I still think great full hair is attractive.

Did you know?

The national bird of America is called, the BALD EAGLE. Apparently, they named it after some American bald guys because Bald Eagles are not actually bald. The name however, simply originated from an older meaning of "white headed”.

Bald Eagles are beautiful!

Bald Eagles are beautiful!

However, let’s talk about the fringe benefits of having no fringe. Okay, let me be more straightforward…eggheads and the reasons I love my baldie.

  1. No falling hair around the house (except mine) - This is one of my pet peeves. I don’t like to see hair on the floor. And yes, I vacuum everyday! Of course, we cannot avoid it but because hubby is now a baldie, it means the only hair I see on the floor is mine and there’s not much, which means less vacuuming!
  2. No flakes – Now he can go sporting his dark shirts without fuzz. No more annoying question: “Do I have something on my shirt?” giving him some peace of mind. And most of all, no more flakes on the pillows.
  3. Saves money - from sitting in a salon or in a barbershop for a haircut. As well as to buying shampoo and other hair products. Obviously, he doesn’t have to use shampoo and all that hair products out there be it expensive or not because overtime, not using shampoo and all those hair products lead to saving money. Hence, he could spend his money on some other finer things in life (for us) like a bottle of red wine maybe?
  4. Saves time fixing hair – let’s admit it, even those with a “who cares” attitude takes time to comb their hair, much more for the vain ones. So, consider the time that my baldie is saving from shampooing, drying and hair styling. Clearly, baldies have more advantage of saving time from the shower to getting dressed right away. My hubby can be ready in five minutes allowing him to sleep in a bit more. No exaggeration!
  5. No bad hair days – What is there to explain on this line? Oh yes, no more hair sticking out or up on its end upon waking up in the morning. Easy!

Bald men and sex

Apparently so too, bald men are said to be better in bed or so perceived. Now, this is maybe a myth but did you know that the only FDA approved pill to spike up hair growth could cause erectile dysfunction, impotence and other permanent sexual glitches? So, why bother?

Let your head shine!

I think it is cool being bald and I’d rather have my baldie than one who wears some toupees to cover his noggins. I think bald guys are open and honest than those who try to cover the spot. Nothing is more embarrassing than for people to discover you’re wearing a wig or obviously wearing a bad toupee that looks like a hairy rag slapped on top of your head. So, when you notice those hairlines receding, stop tricking your self. Being completely bald is a lot better than being half bald or worst impotent. Just go for it, shave it and embrace it!

Bald Guys

Bottom line...

Summing it up, baldies are low maintenance guys and more environmentally friendly. Indeed, life without hair is a lot easier to take! No mess even if it rains and this is why I love my baldie!

Hi, CrisSp,

Thanks. You are a super-talented writer, friend and follower. I do wish I had his voice.

What a late-night FM talk radio host I would be.

Just my opinion.

CrisSp (author) from Sky Is The Limit Adventure on May 19, 2014:

You are very funny Kenneth! :) No need to look like Vin Diesel. Be-You!

Kenneth Avery from Hamilton, Alabama on May 16, 2014:

Hi, dear CrisSp,

You are so welcome and I told you the truth as I do all of my followers. I am pretty much bald, and I do shave my head because it is cooler that way for I live in the south--and these days it is hot.

Now if I can come up with a way to look like Vin Diesel.

Kenneth Avery from Hamilton, Alabama on May 15, 2014:

Hi, CrisSp,

Lovely hub and relative to me. In my profile, I had some hair, but it was only around the sides of my head so instead of looking like a circus clown, a shaved look made more sense. And this hub confirmed that.

Voted up and away for such a nice hub.

Read your fan mail. I am following you, so as a favor, please read one or two of my hubs and I invite you to be of my followers.

That would make my day.

Hello Jodah, thank you for reading and leaving such engaging comments. That was quite embarrassing for Andre' that's why it's best to just leave it naturally bald. No worries, no mess! Thanks for the vote. I appreciate it.

Cheers!

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on March 03, 2014:

Great hub Cris, especially from the viewpoint of a guy who is balding ..lol. I used to have long thick hair in my "hippy days", but now I cut it very sort, the thinner it gets the shorter. I guess I'll be shaving it before long. It is great that so many celebrities and others are just shaving their heads now rather than bother with silly toupees. I have a saying, " if you want to waste your hormones growing hair, that's your problem". Anyway, my wife has no problems with it either, so it doesn't worry me any more. I was surprised when Andre Agassi came out and said he had been wearing a wig when playing tennis and had to glue it down, then in one match it came unstuck. After that he began shaving his head. Voted up.

CrisSp (author) from Sky Is The Limit Adventure on February 19, 2014:

A-Bomb: Thank you for reading and leaving some feedback. Your opinion is very much appreciated. But I guess, anyone who's experiencing it (balding) in the beginning will definitely have that feeling of low self-esteem until they come to completely accept that it is a natural process anyway and that it is not the end of the world yet! :)

Autumn from Central New Jersey on February 18, 2014:

CrisSp, I have to be honest here. I like my man with a full head of hair. Not saying bald cannot be sexy, but I guess it all depends on how the guy carries it. If he carries it with confidence, that is really attractive. But if you can tell he has low self-esteem, that is a turn-off.

CrisSp (author) from Sky Is The Limit Adventure on February 16, 2014:

Hi Crystal! Good to see you visit me here. Thank you. I value your feedback and yes, I'd rather see them bald than doubt if they're wearing that piece of hair to cover it up. I simply like the fact that they're low maintenance. *smile*

Crystal Tatum from Georgia on February 15, 2014:

Bald is sometimes better than combing over or trying to hide thinning hair. It is interesting that bald men are perceived as more masculine, isn't it?

WriterJanis: Thank you. I appreciate your readership and your feedback. Cheers!

aviannovice: Hi Deb! You're right but some bald(ing) guys have issues. Lol! You have a great day avian and thanks for dropping by. :)

Deb Hirt from Stillwater, OK on December 08, 2013:

Many men shave their heads, bald or not, just for the appearance. That tells me that they consider themselves better looking without the hair. So what's the issue? None that I see with a bald guy.

Bald is nice...it works for most men. Bruce Willis looks a bit pale, but he still looks good!

Doris James MizBejabbers from Beautiful South on December 02, 2013:

Since I come from the long hair hippy days, I never cared for bald heads. My generation associated shaved heads with neo-Nazis and white supremacists. My family has had mostly full-maned males. Then along comes my brother and one of my sons who break the record. Now I have to get used to bald heads!

FlourishAnyway from USA on December 02, 2013:

I like your take on this, especially the "environmentally friendly" aspect of no hair products like shampoos.

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on December 02, 2013:

Cris, I think bald men can be sexy. It's all in their demeanor and level of confidence. Sparkling eyes and a dazzling personality makes everyone attractive regardless of what they're sporting on top.
