Pregnancy hacks every mom-to-be should know:
Being pregnant feels magical, but let’s be real, the experience actually comes up with some real challenges. A woman’s body needs to adjust to some abrupt changes both mentally and physically. Especially if you are a anew mother, your body starts behaving in unexceptional ways and to make things more complex, mood swings and mental health decline is always standing at the door, ready to knock anytime. It is no surprise that you are downright miserable at times. But mommies, acknowledge that you are growing a human being inside you, nurturing that tiny little being is the hardest job you’ll ever love.
Although, the expectant mom knows about their growing needs and how to meet them in the best possible way but I think it’s always wiser to spend less and use more so that you don’t have a box full of pregnancy gear to get rid of right after delivery. So, here is a list to start with:
1. Temporary bra-extenders:
These bra extenders are pretty fair-priced as compared to the expensive brand new maternity bras and equally serve the purpose. It is essentially an additional piece of band that attach to your existing bras lengthening it in the process.
One may also go for the comfy sports bra as they are more supportive. Having the best support for your breasts during pregnancy and lactation help prevent stubborn stretch marks and sagging.
2. Stockpile common food favorites:
Pregnancy comes up with unusual food cravings at the weirdest of the times and it is best to keep your guards on and be prepared to tackle any unwanted situation. So, it is best to keep your pantry stocked up with food items you might be craving.
If you are a working lady, you must have your bag packed with snacks so that you do not have to starve yourself
3. Stay hydrated:
Because vomiting can lead you dehydrated, especially in the 1st trimester, it is therefore super important to keep yourself hydrated. Keep a disposable water bottle with you, every time you go out. Try to pick up fruits that have high water content. Keep your fridge stocked with fresh juices which not only give you a variety of taste but are also equally refreshing.
Drinking lots of water although results in peeing a lot, but all these timely difficulties are worth going through.
4. Keep snacks on your night stand:
A very useful hack which I have personally tried and tested during my pregnancy is to keep your bedside drawer packed with snacks to relieve your morning sickness.
Some promising hacks to help with queasiness of morning sickness are;
- Ginger Tea or peppermint tea
- Take your multi vitamins at bed time rather on empty stomach in the morning
- Stay hydrated
- Take adequate rest
5.Fix your swollen feet with Epsom salt:
Swelling in pregnancy is a common complaint due to the retention of fluids in the body. These extra fluids in the body and pressure from the growing uterus can cause swelling (edema) at various places in the body. Most targeted areas are the ankles, feet and under eyes.
Soaking your feet in a tub of warm water with Epsom salt is the best remedy to reduce edema.
6.Eat bananas and get rid of the nasty cramps:
There are certain factors that can be held accountable for the notorious pregnancy cramps. They can be caused by the stark differences your body processes calcium or the developing uterus might be putting pressure on any nerve, fatigue can also be the susceptible culprit.
An easy way to ease cramps is to eat bananas. Yes, you read it right! This amazing fruit is a rich source of potassium which is clinically proven to ease cramps. So, eat healthy and relieve cramps.
7.Trick of apple cider vinegar:
If you are pregnant and going through heart burn, this hack is a real game changer! Add half tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it after your meals and say good bye to heartburn and indigestion.
8.Get rid of constipation:
Elevated progesterone levels during pregnancy messes up with normal body functioning. Progesterone relaxes muscles of the body which retards the bowel movement causing constipation.
Drive away constipation by simple chia seeds. This super versatile ingredient is rich in nutrients, anti-oxidants, fiber, iron and omega 3 fatty acids. Chia seeds are 40% of fiber by weight and therefore provide an effective relief against constipation.
9. Eat dates for an easy labor:
Sounds like an old wives' tale? But modern studies have revealed that this tale is no more a myth! Believe me if you want your labor to be as short as possible, this myth is worth trying and with scientific evidence backing it up you'll want want to thank me for this generous tip.
