Poison in Foodstuffs and Their Effect
Hormones, growth regulators and antibiotics used in animal treatment can pass into food. Hormones and growth regulators have been banned from food production in many countries, and the use of antibiotics and other medicines are tightly controlled. Carry-over of antibiotics can cause major problems due to the potential for serious allergic responses in susceptible individuals. Similarly hormones and growth regulators can cause toxic responses when consumed. The HACCP Team should consider the risks of contamination in their product so that appropriate control and monitoring can be instigated. This will include control at the primary producer and may also involve monitoring at the incoming raw materials stage.
Additives are used not onlyto make products safe and hygienic, but also to assist processing and to enhance or beautify what would otherwise be bland but nutritiousproducts. they may also be beneficial as in the case of vitamins.
The use of chemical additives is governed by regulation in almost all countries in the world. In Europe it is the Directive 89/107/feec (1989) which not only classifies additives according to their purpose (such as preservative, acidulous or emulsifier) but also lays down guidelines and limitations for their use across various categories of foodstuffs. This is, in effect, a positive listing of permitted additives. Therefore, if an additive appears in this or other countries’ positive legislation, it may be assumed to have undergone appropriate toxicological testing and be deemed, by advisory committee of experts, to be safe. This testing procedure of approved and tested materials may also include the ADI (acceptable Daily Intake) level set by such organization as JACFA (Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives) and WHO (World Health Organization).
Nevertheless, it is still possible to imagine situations where careless or unnecessary use of additives poses a potential hazard in a too stuff. For instance, in the choice of preservative one might avoid the excessive use of sodium metabisulphite in acidic products as the resultant sulfur dioxide gas may be injurious to asthmatics both in the workplace and to consumers. Similarly, nitrates and nitrites could be avoided if there are suitable alternatives, without compromising food safety and quality. There are some synthetic colors, such as tar-trazine, for which a causative relationship has been suggested, but not proven, for hyperactivity in children. It would obviously be sensible to use more natural alternatives in cases where the product is targeted at young consumers. Even then it is wise to remember that a natural additive is not offered in amounts greatly in excess of those encountered in the native foodstuff.
Additives may be beneficial, benign or if misused, harmful. Great care and understanding must be exercised in their selection and use.

Puffer\fish poisoning causes several hundred cases of illness and approximately 100 deaths each year in Asia, primarily in Japan. The puffer fish contains a poison called tet rod toxin which is found in the highest concentration in the organs.
Moray eels also contain a toxin, as does the liver of the porpoise.

It is purely depends upon life style and eating habits of the people and there is only one way to stay fit and i.e. change your life style.
Tobacco is one of the most important causes of Cancer and everybody knows about it and governments are trying to control it by different means, most importantly putting warning on every pocket that it will cause cancer. Making laws not to smoke in public and prohibiting its sale to under-age. Nothing is working, is an issue. The sale and consumption of tobacco related products are increasing day by day and cost of tobacco related diseases on health care is increasing day by day.
Bhutan is the first country in the world to ban all types of tobacco sale, soon late us hope every country make same law.
I am talking about the known things and people those products of which peoples are aware of. I am talking of those of which most of the people do not know and consumes. Government and policy makers do not want to talk about.

The real issue is unsuspecting people eating cancer causing products. Junk food contains additives and artificial flavors which increases toxic load and can cause cancer. Cancer is basically caused by the life style and continuous exposure to chemical causing cancer including which are present in food.
Pepsi and other Producers are using artificial chemicals and flavors which can cause cancer. Even though it is mandatory to put label they are avoiding it by using different gimmicks.
