Introduction:

Some people, especially women, need, crave, and desire emotional turmoil. Every time they feel insecure, unconfident, or want attention, they start drama to get rid of negative emotions. Drama queens are high conflict personalities who thrive on attention given to them by people. They’re fierce, dogged and often provocative. They can turn a small argument into a big issue. When it comes to the drama queen, peaceful resolutions are difficult to achieve.

Here is an interesting point to be noticed: not only ladies but also all genders have the capability to behave like a drama queen or you may say drama king to a dramatic male. Here are nine identifying traits of a dramatic personality.

  1. Attention seeker
  2. Super picky
  3. React with emotions
  4. Constantly comparing
  5. Obsessed with personal looks
  6. Criticize everything
  7. Never apologize
  8. Stressing out
  9. Post everything on social media

1. Attention seeker

A person with a dramatic personality loves to be the center of attention. A drama queen is an overly attention seeker. They try too hard to look different and unique. While in a social gathering, a drama queen is the one who wants all the concentration of others. If someone tries to grab the attention away from them, they view that person as their enemy. They crave the spotlight at parties or, even, on regular days at the workplace. The reason behind this is that they are maybe insecure about the personality they have, which causes them to explain their worth to others and need to prove themselves.

2. Super picky

They are super picky or choosy. When you are eating out with the drama queen, you have noticed that they ask too many things before ordering something. They spend extra time choosing a dish from the menu. When you are with that kind of individual, try not to go to a new restaurant. They are too choosy that, if you have a menu with a hundred items on it, a picky person probably only likes one or two things out of a hundred. If you go to ten different clothing stores to buy clothes, a picky person may only find a single shirt. Besides food and clothes, they can be picky in choosing friends and partners as well.

3. React with emotions

Reacting with emotions does not always mean sensitivity, sometimes it is for seeking attention. As you know, there is no drama without emotions, so they respond with emotions. Everything appears to be emotional around a drama queen. They often cry over something menial. Although crying is beneficial and reasonable sometimes, crying in front of someone to get attention is their favorite task. In the same way, they laugh out too loud at the little regular things to get noticed. They are good at making faces according to their feelings in certain situations.

4. Constantly comparing

Comparing ourselves to other people is not a healthy activity, and it makes us feel dangerously envious. Many of us do not like it when anyone compares us with other people, whether we are on a winning side or losing, it makes many of us feel not too good, but drama queens do compare themselves to others most often. A drama queen does comparisons of every aspect of their life to others to create some drama. They explicitly boast about their qualities and achievements.

5. Obsessed with personal looks

A dramatic person thinks that an important way to grab people’s attention is extraordinary looks and a perfect body. And a drama queen is obsessed with the way they look. They look at themselves in the mirror over and over again. For them, it takes at least four to five hours to get ready every day. To look beautiful and ideal, they wear makeup the whole time and always want a perfect dress. Do not be surprised if they have their touch-up kit prepared in their purse at all times. No matter, if they are already late for a party, they don’t go outside until they’re completely ready. Deep down they have a fear of being judged.

6. Criticize everything

A person with a dramatic personality is never satisfied with anything around them. They always think that there is something wrong with everything so they criticize a lot. Every time you give them a cup of tea they even complain about less sugar or cold. They do not criticize others to make them ashamed, always. But they do so to take the attention they need. They become angry in no time, so start criticizing others to get rid of their negativity.

7. Never apologize

No matter how deeply a drama queen hurts you, they never apologize. Apologizing is one of the most selfless actions an individual can do, so expect that from somebody who values you. A sincere apology is quite a big challenge for a drama queen. Sometimes, they may say sorry for their mistake, but it is unlikely to be genuine. Usually, they do it only to get themselves out of problems, or simply, they want to create peace with you so you can start giving them attention likewise.

8. Stressing out

Constant worrying is their slogan because they are not a drama queen without the drama. Most often, you see them surrounded by anxiety, however, superficial things like failing to respond to an email can direct them to stress out rather than discovering a solution. Accidentally pour water on their clothes, and rather than waiting for it to dry, they will freak out about it as if someone poured some hot tea on them.

9. Post everything on social media

Their private life is out on social media, and there is no need to ask them how is everything going? or what are you doing nowadays? It is not a matter of care but because everything about them is out for display on social media. Whether it is a unique dress, newly cut bangs, or a job promotion. They never miss a single moment updating on their social media timeline. They also upload selfie after selfie between all those routine updates.

Conclusion:

A drama queen personalizes every single thing going on around them. A person’s unique hair dye becomes their comparison, a person’s achievements become their competition. A drama queen always sits on their fictional throne. They believe that they’re an emperor who sits on a throne and demands tributes from the people. They wish that the world has to spin around them; everything has to happen for them. They may not admit that they’re acting selfish since they feel the demand to fill the void of attention. To avoid full-time drama and become a better person, a drama queen needs to see things from other people’s perspectives.
