Most Chronic Skin Conditions Are Linked to Allergies, and a Vitamin D3 deficiency. Home remedies for Eczema, Psoriasis, Poison Ivy, Athletes Feet, and Boil
Holistic Doctors point to allergies, or dysbiosis as the culprit in most skin conditions. The diagnosis can be eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, among many other titles. There are two kinds of conditions, acute, such as a boil, or poison ivy, basically temporary. The other, is chronic, meaning, reoccurring. No matter the condition, you need to address the cause.
Dysbiosis is an imbalance in the intestinal tract caused from antibiotics, steroids, and a diet void in fresh fruits, vegetables, and "live" foods. Including yogurt, cottage cheese, fermented foods, such as sauerkraut, among many others. All contain probiotics, the good bacteria that keep our intestines healthy. Allergies, asthma, eczema, and psoriasis become a beast. Upon recurrence, they require stronger antibiotics, nasal sprays, steroids, and creams, further causing dysbiosis, and a vicious circle. With treatment to the underlying cause that circle can be broken.
The intestinal tract is the direct link to your health, no matter what the condition is. If you are not absorbing your nutrients, then how can you be well? Your health will suffer, whether it is chronic allergies, asthma, diarrhea, skin conditions, recurring colds, or arthritis. Your first line of defense is your intestines.
Other possible causes of eczema, or psoriasis can include the following:
Leaky Gut Syndrome
Candidias- which is an overgrowth of yeast.
Allergies to perfumes, dyes, latex, and metals. Whatever the culprit, if the skin remains in contact, the dermatitis will continue.
Top Supplemental Recommendations for Chronic Skin Conditions include the following:
Probiotics 1 pearl per day. Most recommended is acidophilus pearls, by enzymatic therapy. They remain intact until they are in your intestines, thereby replenishing good bacteria where you need it.
Krill, or Flax seed Oil up to three times a day. Both are a balanced essential fatty acid formula, containing omega 3, 6, and 9. A required nutrient for healthy skin.
Vitamin B complex 5-10mg a day, plus extra biotin 300mg a day. Deficiencies have been linked to chronic skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. Very helpful for those conditions linked to stress, the more stress, the more you need this supplement.
Vitamin D3 up to 1000 IU daily. The less sunlight you receive the more you need. We require 15-20 minutes a day of sunlight, for good health. Sunshine is converted into D3, when it hits our skin. If you live in the north, or are older, as we age the ability to convert does decline, you may be deficient. D3 aides in healing tissues, and is a vital hormone for skin health. The deficiency of this supplement has been linked to many auto immune diseases. Psoriasis, is one of those conditions. D3 calms, and stabilizes the immune system, thereby lessening the response. Can be taken orally, or applied topically.
Other Recommendations Include:
Vitamin E is very healing, both orally and topically. You may take up to 400 IU daily, do not combine with other blood thinners, such as coumadin, or warfarin, as it may thin the blood too much. To apply topically, punch a hole in a capsule, and apply the oil directly to the affected area. It may also be purchased in a cream, at any health food store. Coconut Oil may also be used in topical applications. Another omega 3 fatty acid, necessary for skin health.
Water Drink a half of an ounce of water, per every pound of body weight. To remain hydrated, to nourish the skin, and to remove toxins.
Eliminate all perfumes, and dyes from the following until skin recovers:
Replace laundry detergent, fabric softeners, and switch to dye, and perfume free.
Your shampoo, body washes, soaps, and creams.
Switch to cotton underwear, and socks if this is the sight of irritation. Polyester does not let skin breath. Keep the skin dry.
Eliminate all sources of mold in the home. All leaky roofs, plumbing, flooding, carpet that has gotten wet, have to be addressed. You cannot expect to be well if these elements are present. The presence of mold has been linked to numerous conditions. A wonderful product that I used was "that orange stuff". Completely, non-toxic, derived from oranges. It kills mold with out harsh chemicals.
If these recommendations do not bring relief, it might be advisable to seek the help of an immunology doctor. This type of doctor can test you for food allergies, and airborne allergens. Both have been linked to chronic skin eruptions, and problems.
Other therapies that have shown good results include:
- Primrose Oil, and vitamin B6 have helped with dermatitis in infants.
- Activated vitamin D3 (Dovonex) by prescription only, has provided good results for many people with severe psoriasis.
Not everyone will need every supplement listed, cycle through each one until you find relief. Read my articles on IBS, and allergies. QBC, may also be helpful, it has anti inflammatory properties, especially if it is an allergic response to food. Quercitin bromelain complex is a digestive enzyme that helps you to digest proteins, as well as a antihistamine. Allergies, asthma, and eczema have all been linked to an inability to digest proteins. Our immune system then reacts to those proteins, causing an immune response, resulting in a runny nose, stomach ache, and skin conditions. An inability to digest proteins may also be a B6 deficiency, a necessary nutrient for proper digestion.
Our bodies are a complex machine, that requires the right fuels, to perform at it's peak. Whether it is our diet, our environment, or our supplements, we deserve the best.

Leaves Of Three, Let It Be
Help For Poison Ivy
My son was plagued with this, often. 1.Stay out of the weeds. Leaves of three, let it be. 2. If you come in contact with, wash the affected area with dish soap, such as dawn. Urushiol is an invisible oil, dawn cuts through it. Do not scrub as you will force the oil deeper. Under the coldest water you can stand. Hot water opens the pores up, forcing it deeper. Lather and rinse. 3. Usually starts as a gash. 4. Apply Noni Juice, very healing, and often. 5. Not a natural remedy, but Ivarest, is also helpful. Contains calamine, and benadryl. 6. Wash clothes, and all contaminated articles, in hot soapy water. Urushiol, can remain active, on contaminated articles. Such as a steering wheel, weed trimmers, ect. Rubbing alcohol, or bleach water will remove the oil. Wear disposable gloves, use paper towel, wipe down the article, and throw the paper towel away.
Some people are so allergic they do't have to come in contact with it, just be near it.
- Impatients , a common annual, is also an option. Break a stem, squeeze the juice from it, and apply to the affected area. Plant a pot full of them, before the season starts. I've used this remedy on many rashes, and it does work.
Products For Contact Dermatitis, and Poison Ivy
Help For a Boil
Warm milk compresses will bring the boil to a head faster. Warm a bowl of milk, soak a cotton ball, or gauze, place on boil for about 15 minutes. Repeat. Onion juice will also bring a boil to a head faster, it is also anti bacterial. Peel, and quarter a yellow onion, the hotter the better. Squeeze each section until a tablespoon of juice is obtained. Place juice on gauze pad, then on boil, secure with a band aide or white surgical tape. Leave on. Replace the dressing often, until the boil bursts, on its own. Do not squeeze, as it may cause the infection to go deeper into the body. When it finally bursts, make sure to clean the area with peroxide, and dispose of contaminated bandages, and dressing, as you may spread the infection. Most boils are bacterial in nature, you may apply olive leaf extract to the effected area, as well as neosporin, which is 3 antibiotics in one product. I have used this antidote many times. They say most boils are caused from an underlying infection, that was never taken care of. Usually teeth, or sinus, and the infection traveled elsewhere, or from lowered immunity.
The same process can be used for ring worm. Ring worn is a fungus infection. Follow the same procedure, only use olive leaf extract, as it is an anti fungal. Wash clothing, and bedding often, keep the area dry. Do not share towels, soaps, or other personal items as it is contagious. If no results are seen, consult a physician.
Help for Athletes Foot, Fungus Infection
Fungus infection is present in many conditions. As is the case in athlete's foot. Keeping the feet dry, changing the socks often, and applying an antifungal have been effective for many. Keep the shoes dry. You cannot expect to recover if the source is not eliminated. A boot dryer for shoes, or boots is an excellent way to keep shoes dry, in between wearings. Especially if you work in water, hot climates, or have sweaty feet. Wet feet, and shoes set you up for viral (such as planters warts), and fungus infection. Applying garlic gel has been shown to be as effective as Lamisil for athletes foot. The active ingredient in garlic, ajoene, at a 1% ratio. Also effective for jock itch, and ring worm at a 0.6% ratio. Both being fungal in origin. Nothing stronger should be used, as it can result in burn, as garlic is a very strong anti fungal.
Olive leaf extract, in liquid form, can also be used on many skin infections. Very mild anti infective, for viral, bacterial, and fungus infections of the skin. Apply topically to the affected area as needed.

My Regimen for Skin Problems, Acute, or Chronic
Since contracting Lupus, I have utilized many of the supplements, and protocols mentioned in my articles. Start with a good foundation. A good multi vitamin, no iron, D3, B12, and an Omega 3 fatty acid. Choose either a gummy, capsule, liquid, or quick dissolve formula. Hard pressed pills, aren't utilized as effectively. Improve diet, exercise, drinking plenty of filtered water, and fresh air are a solid foundation to maintain, or improve health.
Music, Creativity, Art, and Aroma are also very healing. Creativity includes cooking. Trying new recipes, new Flavors, reading, aroma, rewarding the senses, and mind.
15 minutes a day of music, improves moods, and restores mental health. Most effective was Upbeat, and positive, as well as Jazz. Proven by science.
Add one supplement for a specific disease, or condition. If there is a reaction, discontinue use. The last supplement that was added, will be the culprit of the reaction. Always check for interactions, and side affects before starting any supplement, or therapy.

The skin is the outward reflection of what's going on inside of our bodies, if its good we are healthy, and vice versa.

I have used these products for many years, I keep them on hand in my medicine cabinet. These are top on my list: zinc lozenges, for acute sickness. Olive leaf for skin conditions, and sinus infections. Oil of oregano, for the cold and flu season. Ivarest, for contact dermatitis, and liquid benedryl, for bee stings, and allergies, still the strongest anti histamine on the market.
