“We can’t underestimate the value of silence. We need to create ourselves, need to spend time alone. If you don’t, you risk not knowing yourself and not realizing your dreams.”
What is the secret of introverts? What does it feel being an introvert? There is always a dilemma between extroverts and introverts. Extroverts say that introverts are not socialized, shy, quiet, and maybe a little bit weird people, while introverts are doing their job and become what they want to be. Introverts are quiet people and I agree with that because I am one of them. But it doesn’t mean that we are different from extroverts. We are exactly the same human beings but the thing that distinguishes us is our thoughts and mindset. I’m sure that you got used to seeing that extroverts are talkative and dynamic people who love to be among other people. But it doesn’t mean that introverts can’t be the same as extroverts.
In this article, let me introduce you to 10 myths about introverts.
Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk. What a silly statement! If they don’t talk, it means they have nothing to say. Introverts don’t like idle talks. If they are interested in a particular topic, you will not be able to stop them.
Myth #2 – Introverts are shy. Shyness has nothing to do with introversion. They need a reason. They do not communicate only for the sake of communication. If you want to talk to an introvert, just talk to him. Do not be afraid to look impolite.
Myth #3 – Introverts are rude. Introverts often see no reason for ceremonies or sharing courtesies. They want everyone to be natural and honest. Unfortunately, this is in most cases unacceptable, so introverts sometimes need to make great efforts to adapt, and this is tedious for them.
Myth #4 – Introverts don’t like people. On the contrary, introverts really appreciate the few friends they have. In their entire life, they can probably count their true friends on one hand. If you are lucky to be an introvert’s friend, you have a reliable and lifelong friend.
Myth #5 – Introverts don’t like to be among people. It’s silliness! Introverts get the new information very quickly, and therefore they do not need to spend much time in society in order to be present. They will go home to recharge and digest the information and impressions they got. It’s vital to recharge their tranquility.
Myth #6 – Introverts always want to be on their own. Introverts feel quite comfortable when they are alone with their thoughts. They ponder a lot. They are dreaming. If there are some problems or tasks that need to be solved, they like to work on them and find the right solution. But they can also feel lonely if they do not have someone with whom they can share their discoveries. They need a sincere relationship only with one person.
Myth #7 – Introverts are weird. Most introverts are individuals. They do not follow the crowd. They prefer to be appreciated for their unusual lifestyle. They do not make decisions based only on what is popular and fashionable. They always do what they think is right, and therefore often defy what is considered the norm.
Myth #8 – Introverts are odd. Introverts are people who are primarily focused on the inner world, and pay great attention to their thoughts and emotions. It is not that they are unable to pay attention to what is happening around; just their inner world is much more interesting and useful to them.
Myth #9 – Introverts don’t know how to have fun and relax. Introverts, as a rule, rest at home or outdoor, and not in noisy public places. They are not lovers of thrills and adrenaline addicts. If there is too much talk and noise around, they just close themselves. They prefer quiet and peaceful places where they can relax, meditate, and ponder about their intentions.
Myth #10 – Introverts can change and become extroverts. A world without introverts would be a world with a small number of scientists, musicians, artists, poets, movie-makers, doctors, mathematicians, writers and philosophers. Introverts cannot change. They deserve respect for their innate temperament and the benefits they have brought to humanity. Introverts are just what they are and don’t change it in them.
It does not matter, whether you are an extrovert or an introvert, you are a person, and you have your own tactics that you follow. Your tactics are your secret, and your secret is your uniqueness. Remember this! People often see this as a flaw, so just let it be! Stop caring what people think about you because, in fact, they don’t care. They simply like to judge someone who is better than them.
And the last thing that I want to say – learn to look at the world from a different angle.
