My Wii Weight Loss Experience: How To Burn Calories Playing Wii Sports

I wanted a break from regular workouts so I started playing games on the Wii. After playing most of the games on Wii Sports I was tired and sweating. I could really feel it when I was boxing or playing baseball. Besides working up a sweat my arm muscles hurt a little. I had fun while burning some calories.

The next day I was a little sore from the baseball and boxing. I played through most of the games again. While playing tennis I became a warmer and when I played baseball I started to sweat. Then I cooled down with bowling and golf before increasing the intensity with some boxing matches. After the boxing I played through some training games focusing mainly on the boxing and baseball ones.

For getting in shape and burning calories using Wii Sports in order from best to worst the games were boxing, baseball, tennis, bowling and golf.

The golf game was not very good for burning calories or getting in shape. After 2 days of playing Wii Sports I switched to Wii Sport Resort. It has a nice collection of games but I did not get as tired or as hot as I did when I was playing Wii Sports. My favorite for getting in shape was basketball. It was fun and all the jumping I did tired me out more than the other games. Instead of boxing there was a swordplay game but it did not provide me with a good workout compared to Wii Sports Boxing.

On the fourth day I played Wii Sports Resort again. I got more of a workout than the previous day because I spent more time playing basketball and I used both hands instead of just one when I did the swordplay. In order from best to worst for the workout they provide the games were basketball, cycling, wakeboarding, swordplay, canoeing, frisbee, table tennis, power cruising, bowling, golf, archery and air sports.

I played Tiger Woods golf on the fifth day. It was fun but it did not feel like I was burning a lot of calories. I did like that I could use more power in my swings than in Wii golf but it was still not enough. After playing golf for an hour I switched to Wii Sports baseball and boxing. It took very little time to work up a sweat with those games.

For the 6th day I focused on boxing and the home run challenge in Wii Sports because they are some of the best games I have for burning calories and they are fun. I worked up a sweat and the time felt like it went by quickly. The last day I put in Wii Sports Resort focusing on the ones that burned the most calories.

After playing the Wii for 7 days I lost 5/8" of fat based on the circumference of my stomach. My weight was reduced by approximately 1/2 pound. I played for an average of 1 1/2 hours a day. So I got rid of fat while having fun but it was not very efficient. It also depends on the individual games that are played. Playing sports games on the Wii or other motion controlled game systems can be fun and it burns calories. However to get the same results as 20 minutes of biking, running or jumping rope I would need to play the games for over 2 hours

The main advantage is that it does not require a lot of willpower and people often spend hours playing games or watching TV anyway.
