Lovely sentiments for mothers and expectant moms out there...I enjoyed reading your page. I'm a mother of three young children. I have two sons; my oldest is seven going on eight, and my little guy who just turned three. I have my newest little angel, which is my three month old daughter. I love them dearly and they are worth more than words can convey. My first delivery was terrifying, and became an emergency situation, because there were complications and I wound up having him naturally as well. He was born not breathing, and I lost a lot of blood. It took three doctors to deliver him and stop my bleeding, then a team of wonderful people to get my son breathing. That pain was like none I've ever experienced, and the fear of nearly losing my baby was horrible. My heart aches for the mothers who suffers that loss. My second little guy, I was a bit nervous about his delivery because it was a c-section. The first birth had instilled a fear in me of a repeat situation and something going wrong. Thankfully, everything went fairly smooth. My third, was a planned c-section. However, my little girl was trying to speed up the process, and I went into labor the night I was preparing for her delivery. She came a few hours earlier than planned. I had a sense of calmness that surprised my husband, the nurses, and my doctor that early morning when I was experiencing heavy wave after wave of hard hitting contractions. The nurses was bustling about trying to get me prepped for surgery, nobody could seem to get an IV tapped into my veins that night. They had to call in a guy to get my IV in who works the ICU department, and then they had to rush to get my epidural and spinal block in my back. My water was breaking right on the surgery table, and I was dialated quite far along...yet calm as could be. Prayer & faith helps ease your worries in high tensioned moments like those, and I just focused on the thought of seeing my beautiful healthy new baby girl...imagining what her little face was going to look like. (She was more beautiful than I could have imagined.) I kind of miss the unique, almost magical experience of having my babies so lovingly cradled inside of my womb to feel their precious movements, like their tiny kicks, stretches, and hiccups. Pregnancy makes you feel sooo feminine and proud to be a lady. My husband will never quite understand or feel the same level of joy as I have known to carry our children so intimately close to my heart. I'm thankful to be a woman and have the gift of my children.

~M-O-T-H-E-R

"M" is for the million things she gave me,

"O" means only that she's growing old,

"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,

"H" is for her heart of purest gold;

"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,

"R" means right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"

A word that means the world to me. --Howard Johnson (c. 1915)
