Medifast Shake Recipes

Placing Your First Medifast Order

If you've stumbled across this page looking for information about the Medifast diet and you haven't ordered yet, be sure to check out my Medifast product reviews for a rundown of most of the Medifast products.

If you've been on the Medifast diet for any length of time, you may find yoursef getting just a little bit bored with just drinking the regular shakes mixed with water. Thankfully, there's lots of different ways of adding variety to the basic Medifast shake flavors and you can do that with some Medifast shake recipes.

Now, if you've been using the shaker that Medifast sends you with your product orders, do yourself a favor and break out the blender. I find using a blender and adding lots of ice makes a big difference to how the shakes taste and that's before you even start adding in some extra ingredients.

If you don't have a blender already, some folks swear by the Magic Bullet, but any blender will do. And if you take Medifast to work with you every day, you might want to get an inexpensive portable blender you can leave at the office. I like the kind where you just stick the blending wand into your glass and it froths everything up for you.

Medifast Shake Recipes

For all of these recipes that call for 8 oz of a beverage to add to the shake mix, you can use between 6 to 8 oz. It depends on how thick a shake you like. If I want something that's really more like a slushie, I use about 6 oz of my beverage and a full cup of ice. Just experiment.

I'll start with one of my favorites:

  • One Orange Shake packet
  • 8 oz diet cream soda
  • ice

Pour the diet cream soda into the blender, add the orange shake packet and as much ice as you prefer and hit BLEND. I love the orange shake mix best, but adding the cream soda gives it a nice zing.

Blended Mocha Latte

  • One Hot Cocoa packet
  • 8 oz coffee
  • ice

Combine the Medifast hot cocoa with 8 oz of hot coffee and then blend them with ice. You can also enjoy this just poured over ice, but make sure the coffee and hot cocoa are thoroughly blended together or you'll end up with some powdery bits. For more flavor, try some DaVinci sugar free syrups in your favorite flavors.

Root Beer Float

  • One Medifast Vanilla shake packet
  • 8 oz of Diet Root Beer
  • ice

Pour your Root Beer over ice in the blender, add the Medifast Vanilla packet and blend. This tastes best using a good quality diet Root Beer. I like Hansen's and Stewarts. Most generic diet Root Beers taste horrible.

Black Cherry Bomb

  • One Vanilla shake packet
  • 1/4 tsp (or to taste) of sugar-free Black Cherry Kool Aid mix (powder form)
  • Ice

Mix these and the blender and enjoy! The black cherry goes great with the vanilla, but I like it with the chocolate shake mix as well.

Design Your Own Medifast Shake Recipes

It is very easy to come up with your own concoctions for enjoying your Medifast meals if you have a few things on hand. I usually have a few different DaVinci Sugar Free syrups on the shelf, but you can also use different extracts. I use hazelnut sugar free syrup in my chocolate shake and coconut syrup in my vanilla shake. They both give great flavor boosts.

Other great mixers are diet sodas. These probably are the easiest drinks to mix. Just add your favorite diet soda flavor to a vanilla shake mix and put them in the blender with some ice. Just a word of warning: DO NOT use the shake jars when you are mixing carbonated drinks. Your beverage will explode! These are for the blender only.

For some dry mixes to add some flavor boosts -- try both Crystal Light and Kool Aid sugar free packets. Generally, less than a tsp of powder will be sufficient. I usually start with about a 1/4 tsp and see how it goes.

You mean how much did I need to lose total? Over 100 lbs. If I'd only needed to lose 30 lbs, I doubt it would have come off that quickly.

Thirty pounds in two months is a lot of weight! Almost 4 pounds a week. How much did you start with?
