Let Us Grow Old, a Little More Gracefully, Ladies

Politics aside, there is much more to me. I am passionate about many things and those are the things which sustain me.

Take Care of the Skin You're In, the Body You've been Given

I was the biggest tomboy you can imagine.

Climbing trees, riding bikes everywhere; no one had ever even heard of bike helmets, shoes were rarely worn and there we'd go...down big hills on our bikes, hands in the air, bare legs and feet out to the side, without fear. Swimming in murky, swampy places, getting in the middle of backyard tackle football games with the boys, these were the places, I longed to be!

By high school, my Mom put her foot down.

I was her only daughter and she wanted me out of the trees playing Tarzan and acting more like a lady and so, she put me in modeling/charm school.

It wasn't just about modeling, which, incidentally, was a blast; we learned so much about taking care of ourselves; our hair, our skin, our body and doing it in ways which would prepare us, for the test of time.

I know that I didn't appreciate it so much then, but today, at the age of 63, I cherish what I learned at a very young age.

To love the skin you're in; never neglect it, for even a day, don't overdo the makeup (well, maybe on special occasions and/or, for fun) do your homework, your research and find the best products, sunscreen, etc, for your skin, don’t neglect your body when it comes to your skincare regiment…

yes, be very regimented about it!

My Skin Regiment since the age of 17 has been…

Never go to bed without a thorough cleansing of my face in particular. No matter how tired, take the time/make the time!

Nothing harsh or abrasive, no soap ever; gentle make-up remover or towelettes, if soap must be used, it should be gentle enough for a baby's skin.

Always follow up with a good moisturizer.

Anything and everything you apply to your face, neck, body, should be done in a gentle, sweeping upward motion.

Never scrub your face, never push down or pull down, on your skin -

Mother Nature is taking it there quickly enough, it doesn't need any assistance from you tugging and pulling at it!

We are so fortunate today to have anti-aging nighttime moisturizers and day creams with SPF, that work wonders.

Yes, I have some wrinkles, some laugh lines; I've lived, I've loved, I've laughed and I've earned them, as the saying goes. But, if not for My Mom pulling me out of the tree and putting me into that school, who knows!

The phrase, "rode hard and put up wet", comes to mind!

I've stayed out of trees and tackle football, but very active, participating in sports, loving the beach and the wonderful outdoors, I just picked up good habits at a young age, about protecting and taking care of the skin I'm in!

Make-up is a little heavy here, I was modeling a long lasting lipstick for my cousin, who was selling the product at the time.

False Images

It is hard to get through a day without images of perfect faces and bodies of women in Hollywood; they have teams of people that keep them looking that way.

But...when that doesn't work, when no matter what "the team" does, more help is needed, Photographers can work wonders…or miracles, whatever is required!

They also have access and the means to utilize Doctors who can assist them in continuing to look a certain way.

I'm sure you have also seen images (or may personally know them) once beautiful women, who have had one too many procedures done and they have ruined their appearance.

Many aren't even recognizable. They've lost that certain smile, the expressive eyes, the furrowed brow, the wrinkled nose; those little things which made them, them!

For what?

To look like someone else?

Now, this practice has been passed onto young ladies; those who feel they aren't good enough, they can't measure up to the images they see coming out of Hollywood. That's as far as the thought process goes before they are asking for breast or derriere enhancement or Botox from the Parents, for a High School graduation present...and getting it!

These young ladies are going in for procedures, such as Botox, when the first sign of a small line, only noticed by them, appears. It is almost an obsession for some, to never have a small laugh line or a subtle frown line, much less a wrinkle!

I don't know how much research has been done when it comes to injecting [Botulism] into people's faces, but I do know, whenever I miss a day of work and am home channel surfing, there are many Attorneys asking me if I've taken certain products...whether a decade ago or a few years back and if so, am I experiencing symptoms?

For I may be compensated!

I don't know about you, but I don't want to ever have to be in the position to retain an Attorney, because I didn't give a second thought to intentionally placing poison into my face or my body!

Apparently, these pharmaceutical companies, can easily afford to continue doing it, it doesn't stop them from advertising heavily now - paying later and moving on without a second thought about any damage done!

You're Beautiful Just the way you Are; Love the Skin You're in

Don't get me wrong, I am at an age where I weigh more than at any other time in my life, other than with my pregnancies.
I'm working on that.

I do look in the mirror and often, only notice my flaws, I have them like everyone else does! I developed vitiligo {white patches quite evident on tanned or dark skin} after having a major surgery to correct scoliosis, (curvature of the spine) which was robbing me of my health, happiness and my height.

We all have those days when our flaws are flashing neon-like and think, it's not fair.

But, time is much too precious to waste on worry, not to mention the toll it takes on us.

That time is better utilized taking care of ourselves, developing good routines that will help us to look better and to feel better, not quick fixes!

Ladies, especially you young ladies, don't do it!

You are unique to every other person on earth, there's only one you, you don't need to look like anyone else.

Love the skin you're in, the body you've been given. Take care by taking some time for your skin, your body; don't look for quick fixes, which can do such long term damage!

Hey you ~ you're beautiful!

I must say, I feel beyond blessed to have been born and to have grown up, before the 21st Century; free to be a kid, free to be me!

I've described myself as the biggest tomboy ever and that I was! It still comes out at times!

But I also remember liking it very much when I was being chased by or chasing, boys. In fact, those backyard football games with the boys, wasn't just because I love the game! I liked boys, I grew up and then began, to like men, falling in love with one certain man!

I do have a point -

I guess because I mentioned "tomboy" in this article, I am suddenly bombarded with articles about, "underlying issues, gender confusion, identity crisis", etc.

Apparently, that's all it takes these days to push a young girl down a very dangerous path; thinking something is wrong with her or that God makes mistakes...and she's one of them!

I did not set out (it never even crossed my mind) to go here, but here I go!!! If a little girl enjoying climbing a tree or doing the same things the boys reason enough to mess with that little girl's mind (or a little boy's mind) to poke and prod, put under a microscope or worse yet.....ENCOURAGE them to believe that they are "a mistake", in 2021, by today's unfit and unholy guidelines and so-called standards.....

It's not enough that they have been made to feel insecure in their looks, their bodies, their the slightest hint of their tendencies to be more tomboy-like than girly-like, can so easily push adults to screw with their minds and screw them up permanently?

God help us all, for Yahweh is our only hope!

'16'!!! {gasp}

So many of these injections, look as if someone has popped the young lady (or older lady) in the lip one. SMH.

Thanks for the Moisturizer suggestion Yves, I am always looking for great products!

We have a family friend who had her lips injected. She is only 16. There was nothing wrong with her lips before. They were already pretty. Nobody doubts that she'll continue down this path... which is a shame because she has already begun to make herself look unnatural in other ways as well. It makes me sad that her parents never learned to say, "No."

As for cleansing the face, I too do that religiously, morning and evening, even if I am tired. It really makes a difference. My favorite moisturizer is Clinique's Moisture Surge. Kind of expensive, but it is a wonderful product and worth every penny.
