Dream money is not so different from waking life money.
The primary difference is that dream money is a bit like Monopoly money--it can only be spent within the confines of the dream game.
However, dream money is very much like waking money because in truth, waking life money has no actual value on its own (unless it is some kind of rarity). Instead, waking life money is a symbol--it represents one's time and energy and the value of that time and energy. Money is payment for time, for energy. It is a symbol, not a thing with any inherent value.
Dream money functions exactly the same way--as a symbol.
Money dreams indicate one's health, one's energy, and the importance one places on them. Of course, sometimes the symbol the dream money is an anxiety symbol that crops up when one is experiencing financial difficulty.
Read on to explore money dreams in detail.
Money for Nothing
Lost Money Dreams
GIven that money is a symbol of time and energy, when lost money dreams plague a dreamer they symbolize lost time and lost energy.
How is one losing time and energy?
There are several avenues such as:
- Devotion to a fruitless cause
- Continuing to work in a job one despises
- Failure to pursue what truly matters in favor of what is "practical"
- Devoting time and energy to a relationship that is hopeless
- Bailing out people believe one is helping when one is, in reality, enabling
As always, the best way to help one's self is via brutally honest examination of one's waking world to determine who or what is draining away one's resources.
It should also be kept in mind that dreams can serve as symbolic warnings of troubles that while currently in the psychic and emotional realms can work their way into physical form such as serious health problems.
When the Dreamer is the Thief
As opposed to theft dreams wherein the dreamer is being robbed there are also dreams wherein the dreamer is the robber.
When dreamers are thieves the unpleasant truth is that it is the dreamer who is acting in the manner that the thief acts in dreams. It is the dreamer leeching, abusing, acting fraudulently, etc.
Dreams wherein the dreamer is the thief are actually relatively uncommon.
Because people who engage in the aforementioned are usually not the contemplative types. They feel no guilt about what they are doing.
If one is having such a dream and is, say, an addict, it may be the dreamer is reaching a moment of clarity and is finally recognizing the need to get help and make a change.
Therefore another interpretation is possible.
It could be that the dreamer feels like a fraud or a leech when that negative self-image is not true.
Someone is Stealing from the Dreamer
Theft dreams have different meanings depending upon who is doing the dream thieving--the dreamer or another party.
Theft dreams are similar to lost money dreams.
The difference between the two is that lost money dreams indicate a more passive draining of resources.
Theft dreams are a more active form of loss indicating that someone or something is actively taking time and draining energy.
If another party is stealing from the dreamer in the dream this can indicate:
- A toxic relationship, either romantic or with a family member or with a friend
- Someone chronically leaching off the dreamer
- Actively being lured into a situation that the other party knows is fraudulent but who present the situation as legitimate
- An abusive partner
One must evaluate one's interpersonal relationships from time to time to determine if they are healthy.
Sometimes people stay in bad relationships out of sympathy or pity.
People who are looking to steal time, energy, and financial resources know how to pull out all of the stops to get what they want.
A key clue is if one finds one's self constantly excusing the person's behavior or justifying staying in the by saying "But I'm the only person s/he has."
Whereas poverty dreams indicate poverty in spirit, mental health, etc, wealth dreams indicate pretty much the exact opposite.
Wealth dreams indicate the one is experiencing a time when self-esteem is high, the mind is healthy, the spiritual life is flourishing, and the emotions are in check.
Wealth dreams are also indicative of the dreamer taking care of herself.
One does not tolerate abuse or leeches.
One will only entertain careers that are fulfilling.
One can be generous with time and energy because one is genuinely helping those in actual need--not those who are engaging in deception.
As well as symbols of energy and time, money dreams can also symbolize health, self-worth, and self care.
When poverty dreams arise, this can indicate poor health:
This means that one might be:
- Mentally unstable
- Undergoing a spiritual crisis
- Experiencing low self-esteem
- Chronic health concerns such as ongoing fatigue, exhaustion, low blood pressure, heart problems
One must evaluate the waking life and find the area that is causing the poverty and make adjustments immediately lest one end up completely and totally drained to the point of no return.
Finding Money in Dreams
Dreams of found money can indicate that the dreamer feels like he has a new lease on life.
Perhaps the dreamer is finally in a good place in life which may not have been expected.
In fact, found money in dreams typically indicates some unexpected joyous occasion or positive life change one has not counted on.
Found money in dreams can also be literal with the dreamer coming into or soon to come into some unexpected windfall.
The basic symbolism of found money dreams is surprise--surprise in the best meaning of the word.
Found money dreams can also be recovery dreams--lost vigor, lost happiness, lost spirituality, lost physical health has unexpectedly returned to the dreamers life.
Change in Dreams
Dreams of change are highly symbolic and may involve a bit of word-play which is another method dreams employ to get across their messages.
The symbolism of change is basically not difficult to decipher.
Change dreams indicate change:
- Change that is coming
- Change that is needed
- Change that has already occurred
Change is something many people absolutely abhor but which is one of life's guaranteed constants.
Change dreams can be extremely helpful, however.
They can prepare the dreamer for something that is going to change such as a career or change in relationship status.
Alternatively, change dreams can indicate that one needs to examine the waking life to determine what changes need making to make that world a more positive place in which to live.
Finally, change dreams can indicate how one is coping with recent changes.
Losing change can indicate feeling of grief or sadness over changes that have occurred.
Finding change can indicate that one is happy and coping well with waking life alterations.
