Making Natural Electrolyte mix

I found out how to make this natural electrolyte mix from here . While the recipe I have for it is very similar to the MTHFRade recipe I change it, in that I use fruit concentrate to make it better and use some different products.

Gatorade and other electrolyte drinks contain a lot of additives, chemicals, dyes and sugar or high fructose corn syrup. The recipe requires water, electrolyte concentrate, stevia, bioplasma cell salts, d-ribose and vitamin c powder. This is a far better alternative than gatorade or other electrolyte drinks and will hydrate and energize you better as well. This recipe helps a lot with those dealing with chronic conditions, in particular Adrenal fatigue, mitochondrial dysfunction and chronic fatigue.

How to make natural electrolyte mix

First you will need a gallon sized container, a used but washed gallon jug for milk could work. You need all the following ingredients to make natural electrolyte mix: water, stevia, d-ribose, bioplasma cell salts, electrolyte concentrate and vitamin c powder. Add water, then all the rest of the ingredients, be sure to mix thoroughly and from time to time as the dry ingredients tend to settle on the bottom of the container.

The measurements will depend on what ingredients you choose to use (this mostly pertains to electrolyte concentrate) but recently I have refined the recipe and made it so you can make a quart to a gallon at a time. I typically make a gallon of it at a time, which is much more efficient in my opinion and will last longer. The recipe is as follows I have decided to include measurements for making 1 gallon or 1 quart.

For 1 gallon of electrolyte mix:

1 gallon (128 oz.) of water
2 Tablespoons (8 teaspoons, 40 grams) of D-Ribose
1 cup (8 oz) per gallon of electrolyte concentrate (if using Balanced Electrolyte Concentrate 20 Ounces by Body Bio) or
2 Tablespoons + 2 Teaspoons electrolyte concentrate (if using Trace Minerals Research 40,000 Volts! Electrolyte Concentrate 8 fl oz by by Trace Minerals Research)
4 scoops (4.4 grams) of Optimal Creatine (or other magnesium bound creatine)
1 Tablespoon + 2 teaspoon of Vitamin C powder
4 teaspoons of Hyland's Bioplasma Cell salts
2 teaspoons of Stevia
1/2 cup liquid amino acid mix (if using Twinlab Cher-Amino Liquid Protein
by Twinlab)

For 1 quart:

1 quart filtered water (32 oz.)
2 teaspoons of D-Ribose (4 grams)
4 tablespoons (2 oz.) of electrolyte concentrate (if using Balanced Electrolyte Concentrate 20 Ounces by Body Bio) or 2 teaspoons of electrolyte concentrate (if using Trace Minerals Research 40,000 Volts! Electrolyte Concentrate 8 fl oz by by Trace Minerals Research)
1 scoop of optimal creatine (1.1 gram)
1 teaspoon of Vitamin C powder
1 teaspoon of Hyland's Bioplasma Cell Salts
1/2 teaspoon of Stevia
2 tablespoons of liquid amino acid mix (if using Twinlab Cher-Amino Liquid Protein

Benefits of natural electrolyte mix

Natural electrolyte mix has a lot of benefits over conventional electrolyte mix. While any electrolyte supplement will have its benefits, gatorade and powerade has sugar, additives and dyes which can raise blood sugar and cause other problems as well. With natural electrolyte mix it will help keep you hydrated, and lessen symptoms such as brain fog, and dry skin. It will also help you absorb other nutrients as well, if you are experiencing digestive distress. You will also benefit from better hydration then with other electrolyte mixes such as gatordate and powerade, as natural mixes provides energy to your cells as well.

With the added benefit of the vitamin c powder it will enhance immunity and speed the recovery process from sickness or disease. This recipe is paleo and GAPs friendly as it is fairly low glycemic and has no added chemicals, preservatives or dyes.

If you are active you can drink throughout your activity and will not tire as easily. At work you can drink it overtime to maintain energy and hydration and will decrease fatigue. It can even be used if using a sauna or during an epsom salt bath to replenish electrolytes.

For those dealing with chronic conditions it will help tremendously with Adrenal Fatigue and with mitochondrial dysfunction. To get a more in depth look at how to treat adrenal fatigue check out this hubpage: http://jheldt.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-treat-adrenal-fatigue

Optional ingredients to add

While I stay true mostly to the electrolyte mix formula detailed above I do sometimes add some things to make it taste better. I add liquid amino acids (haven't found a powder form that mixes and tastes good) which are particularly helpful if people are on a low ammonia/low protein diet (such as myself).

You may also want to add stevia which helps make it sweeter and easier to drink. If you use any powder or liquid supplements which you take daily you may also want to add to the mix as well or when you drink the mix on a daily basis. I add creatine and TMG (Trimethylglycine) to help with my own chronic conditions. Creatine can help with increase cellular energy, and TMG can help lower homocysteine and help with methylation issues.

You may wish to customize yours to your specific lifestyle and/or situation.
