10 Life Lessons We Can Learn From Queen Bey
Beyoncé is one of the most successful and celebrated recording artists of the 21st century. She has made her mark as one of the hardest working and most dedicated singer/songwriters out there and today, Beyonce, Queen Bey turns 40.
To celebrate this milestone for Bey, here are ten life lessons that we can learn from Beyonce.
Happiness is a Choice
Beyoncé is famous for staying positive through tough times. She often states that dwelling on negativity can destroy your happiness. Instead of dwelling on the bad things Bey gives herself 24 hours to mope around being sad and then she gets up and gets back to business. Beyoncé believes that happiness is a choice, here is a quote from the Queen herself:
"When I'm not feeling my best, I ask myself,' What are you gonna do about it?' I use the negativity to fuel the transformation into a better me."
Whenever you are feeling down, stressed, fed up or angry. Work through the emotions and use the same negative emotions to motivate you to get up and live your best life. Easier said than done I know, but it's possible! Be inspired.
Beyoncé is probably one of the most persistent artists in the game, she doesn't stop! She works hard and she doesn't give up. Take a leaf out of her book and instead of complaining about the life you wish you had, get up and get busy! Simple!
Rest and Get Back to It!
Beyoncé is well-known for sleepless nights and hours and hours of practice however, she also values her rest. In her documentary 'Year of the 4,' Beyonce takes a well-deserved break from singing, recording and touring. She talks about the importance of rest in the documentary and this is something that we should all take into consideration.
Hustle culture is alive and kicking right now and there is nothing wrong with working hard and achieving goals however, rest is important too.
Stand up For Yourself
After watching countless video clips of Beyoncé rehearsing for shows and practicing for big award ceremonies I came to the realization that Beyonce stands her ground. She stands up for herself and she doesn't back down. Don't let her pretty face fool you, Beyoncé is fierce!
We should all take this into consideration and stand up for ourselves. Never allow anyone to treat you badly, you deserve the best.
Take Up Space
Beyoncé's alter-ego Sasha Fierce takes up space and she doesn't play small for anyone. Learn from Sasha and take up space! If they don't want to give you a seat at the table, create your own table and boss up!
Practice is Important
We watch the grand performances and lavish stage shows however, it didn't happen overnight. Beyoncé believes in the power of practice and hard work, she believes that there is no substitute for hard work and consistent practice and she is a testament to that! She puts in that work!
Here's the lesson, are you struggling to achieve your goals right now? Well, the answer lies in the amount of work you actually put in. Practice more, put in more hours and work harder than the next man and you might just see results.
Learn From the Greats
Beyoncé learned from legends like Tina Turner and Michael Jackson and she still continues to learn, grow and improve. Never be afraid to sit down and learn from someone who has achieved more than you. If Beyonce can do it, you can too!
Set Goals and Work
Beyoncé sets big goals, she works, she prays and she gets it done! Again, if you are struggling to achieve your goals, take a leaf out of Beyonce's book and set yourself some goals, put in that work and get it done!
Stay Silent Sometimes
Beyoncé is known for being very private however, in recent years she has been more open about certain aspects of her life. She is still very quiet about her private affairs compared to some celebrities.
In life, sharing some aspects of your life is fine but staying silent about certain aspects is important for your mental health and wellbeing.
Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
Staying comfortable will never yield great results. Beyoncé is a risk-taker and she often steps outside her comfort zone to achieve amazing things.
"I can never be safe; I always try and go against the grain. As soon as I accomplish one thing, I just set a higher goal. That's how I've gotten to where I am."
If you want to take yourself to the top, step outside your comfort zone. Staying safe will get your nowhere, set goals, achieve them and set bigger goals. No goal is too big, you can do anything that you put your mind to.
We can all learn a lot from Beyonce, she is hard-working, dedicated, focused and she stays silent when it's necessary to do so. Happy Birthday, Beyoncé! I salute you!
