1. Listen your favourite music

Another recent study found that physical act of smiling actually helped to reduce stress, regardless of whether the person actually feel happy or not. Additionally, a smiling person is more attractive to the opposite sex. But don’t fake it, he or she can see it.

A few studies has shown that people were significantly happier when they spent money on gifts for others or charitable donations, rather than spending on themselves. In another study conducted by National Institutes of Health in US, volunteers’ brain was scanned to check the level of pleasure chemical dopamine that stimulates the same part of brain as sex and drugs. Volunteers who give more specifically, donating money, has been reported to release higher level of dopamine.

Paying a compliment to others, giving up your seat for others, helping a friend in need produces similar results. Random acts of kindness evoke positive thoughts, which is a great way to boost your mood instantly.


Scientifically proven, making a list of things to thank for is a great way to stay positive and happy. It will help you to keep appreciating what you already have. Keep a journal of thanksgiving is the most effective way to go for it. Don’t worry about journaling it every day, this mood lifter is found to be more effective when you don’t.

Hi Ingenira, sure these are great ways of getting out of that moody state. Just like Bruce i used to wonder why there is so much unhappiness. I did some research and i discovered that the major cause of most of our unhappiness is our inflated desire for material things and the unending cravings of our mind - material things, love, fame, power, beauty, status name it. Yet its impossible to satisfy all these cravings at any one time. Funny enough, if those we happen to get soon loose their charm and we soon start craving for new ones - a New phone model, a new house, a new boyfriend etc. To put an end to this game of circles, i resolved to put into practice one of the remedies i came across somewhere- Living a simple decent life. This means learning to keep your cravings to minimum and learning to love what you have. This is a bit hard in the beginning but with some effort and constant practice, its possible to master it. With its perfection, something amazing with will happiness - Experiencing of near True Happiness - "Happiness without a cause". In this state all what used to seem like problems magically disappear and you start experiencing happiness from every simple thing - the sound of rain drops of the roof, the singing of birds, watching the sunset, thinking about your children and many other things. The most beautiful experience of all, you will start feeling happy just with yourself - True Inner Happiness and you loose interest in all exciting staff - Loud music, clubbing, strong cravings and the like.

It baffles me that there is so much unhappiness in this world. I personally made a decision many years ago that it was unacceptable to be unhappy. And because I am human, I unconditionally love and accept myself during the times when I'm low. This, along with making the decision to enjoy life, has made all the difference in the world.
