Aging and longevity

Even if you haven't marked your family's birthdays or anniversaries on the calendar, you remember them all, but as you get older, you keep blinking and forgetting how you used to be. Usually there is nothing special about it, and I try to do it because I am getting old. Today, speaking about aging and longevity, I will listen to the help of Professor Dong Dong Kang Yu

Lee: Interestingly, what bothers me most is the usual decrepitude or inattention.

Kang: Yes. Right. People are afraid that old age will come when they become old, and many efforts are made to prevent old age in advance. However, despite efforts to prevent decrepitude beforehand, decrepitude continues to be one of the diseases that bother the elderly.

We can say that old age is an act of carelessness. The human brain is made up of billions of cells, and it is believed that 60-70% of them develop by the age of 3 years, and 95% of them by 10 years. It is said that 100,000 brain cells die every day between the ages of 30 and 40, and brain cells shrink by about 30% by age, which is the cause of old age.

There are times in our life when we do not remember the name of the person or the place we were in. This is called forgetfulness. Forgetfulness occurs in almost everyone, and this forgetfulness works well when you are nervous about stress or stress.

But old age is what a person should do, as a rule: forget to eat or go to the toilet to work. Observing this decrepitude, everyone begins to worry and live in good health, and when decrepitude comes, he thinks that his children should not suffer and die, but old age comes like a thief, without knowing it. It's impossible.

Lee: I recommend playing numbers or painting pictures to improve memory. That would be good?

Kang: Yes. I think playing numbers or drawing pictures to improve memory is a program that postpones rehab or decrepitude when old age comes. Early prevention of old age is a top priority. As you enter old age, you need to excel in your daily life to prevent aging and aging of the brain. To prevent aging of the brain, always wear your head and actively move your body. If you continue to do what you love, brain tissue is activated, so brain aging is slow.

Lee: First of all, it would be useful to learn about the physical changes in older people

Kang: Yes. As they get older, most people experience physical changes called hypothermia and hyperthermia. The research institute measured the body temperature of 1000 elderly people between the ages of 60 and 94, and the experiment found that it was 0.3 degrees Celsius lower than the normal body temperature of adults. However, the danger is that the function of maintaining body temperature is poor, so even a little cold air can easily see a drop in body temperature. When the body temperature drops to 35 degrees Celsius, it is a sign of danger to life.

Studies and analyzes of near-death conditions showed that among patients with hypothermia, older patients had a higher risk of death, and people over 75 years old - a higher risk. This is because the body is able to cope with temperature changes and control the decrease in body temperature with age. Even when the elderly are in a stable condition, there is little blood flow from the body and the vasoconstriction response to cold does not respond properly.

When a person is cold, the contraction of blood vessels is a protective function of a living organism. It is an expression of the biosecurity function that removes heat from the body. However, in older people, this function is reduced and heat dissipation is not properly prevented, so hypothermia occurs.

I think the reason for the high mortality rate among older people in North Korea in the last winter season is due to the inability to properly consume nutrients, which are the source of warmth that older people need. Some say that if the body temperature is slightly lower, there is no scientific explanation.

The next is hyperthermia. People's ability to dissipate heat through sweat decreases with age. This is because the sweat glands become fibrotic and the secretory cells of the sweat atrophy or degenerate. In addition, the ability to adapt and respond to the external environment in old age is weakened, so when the external temperature and humidity rises, it is easily influenced.

If the ambient temperature is higher than the body temperature, hyperthermia easily occurs, causing symptoms of the disorder in the body. According to research, the incidence of body temperature rises in hot summer in older people 65 and older is ten times higher than in younger people. For this reason, dozens of elderly people died of hyperthermia in the sun last summer. For this reason, older adults and their families should be well aware of common sense regarding hypothermia and hyperthermia in older adults and prepare in advance.

Lee: Sometimes people recommend certain foods that are good for the brain

Kang: Yes. To prevent or slow down aging, it is recommended that you consume a lot of protein over three meals a day. Proteins are known to strengthen the walls of blood vessels and prevent cerebral arteriosclerosis and cerebrovascular disorders. Animal protein includes meat, fish, cow's milk, and chicken eggs, while vegetable protein includes processed legumes and soybeans. In the case of the elderly, if nutrients are not supplied in sufficient quantities, the energy sent to the brain decreases and its activity decreases. If this condition continues, brain aging sets in quickly and decrepitude sets in as soon as possible.

Looking at the current global trend, healthy food for the health of the elderly is high enough to account for half of all healthy food. Among them, healthy foods such as omega-3s are made from blue fish oil, which prevents blood clots in the brain and has a preventive effect. Cyanobacterial vitamins have also been reported to slow aging. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that prevents the oxidation of sugar in cells. This is why vitamin E is sometimes called the anti-aging vitamin. In addition, carotene, which is abundant in green-yellow namsae, also acts as an antioxidant, including vitamin C, which strengthens capillaries.

Further, foods that are good for brain and body health are calcium-rich cow's milk and processed cow's milk, shrimp and small fish anchovies, tofu and sea herbs with every meal to prevent osteosonosis, which often occurs in old age. Stroke caused by high blood pressure and senile disease can also be prevented early. Even if you eat a lot of these foods at one time, the body absorbs and excretes them as much as necessary, so you should regularly eat them as a side dish with every meal.

The current economic situation in North Korea is very bad

According to a recent defector from North Korea, the vast majority of families eat one meal and worry about the next, even if no one is starving to death, as during the march of suffering. They say when you get sick, you have to go to the market, buy medicine and eat it. In this situation, I consider the problem of old age to be more urgent. In North Korea, aging will soon become a social issue. In preparing for this, I believe that it is necessary to know in advance the hygiene of the common sense of old age. Everyone gets old, and when they get old, they get old. The current age is the age at which old age lasts longer than young. You must delay and prevent old age. Next time, I'll talk in advance about preventing aging.
