Overstraining feet can cause tendons to develop minute tears that cause the pain. These tears normally heal if feet are given ample rest. Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome
Tarsal tunnel syndrome is responsible for the arch of the foot to hurt in the morning. It is a sharp shooting pain that becomes severe when body weight is transferred on the hurting foot. The pain in the arch is caused when pressure is applied on particular nerves present in the foot. The pressure could be a result of over exerting the feet or wearing wrong footwear, such as stilettos.
Hypothyroidism is a disease of the thyroid gland which is caused by hormonal imbalance. Individuals suffering from this disease often complain of hurting feet in the morning. The pain eases as the day progresses only to be felt again the next morning.
Being overweight puts tremendous pressure on the feet, which could cause the nerves to get compressed, or the muscles and tendons to develop tiny tears. The feet are placed at an awkward angle in high heeled shoes, especially stilettos which results in wrong distribution of body weight on the feet. The balls of the feet take the full body weight, which leads to intolerable foot pain on awakening in the morning.
Wrong posture could lead to early morning pain in the feet. Correct posture distributes body weight on both feet, while in an improper posture the complete body weight is resting on one foot. The foot which takes the load sustains too much strain, causing the feet to throb with pain in the morning.
Improper Blood Circulation
Sedentary lifestyle and tight fitting shoes hamper proper blood circulation in the feet. This can cause the foot to ache and twinge.
Any new exercise routine that requires use of feet may cause sudden foot cramps in the mornings. Running, jogging and cycling could give the feet mild to severe cramping in the morning.
The body goes through many changes as one grows old. The most common changes are a loss of bone density, hormonal changes and drop in general fitness. These three factors are responsible for the elderly to suffer from aching feet when they get up in the morning.
Pain in the feet gets aggravated in the mornings in those suffering from bone spurs in the heel. Taking the first few steps when you get out of bed is most difficult.
Fractures and Injuries
Old injuries and fractures that have healed have a tendency of hurting, especially in the morning, when body weight is suddenly shifted on the injured foot. Pain from old injuries can return in the cold winter months.
Feet hurt in the morning due to a number of reasons. Usually, it is the ball of the feet and heel that hurt the most, because they feel the brunt of the body weight. Anyone can suffer from aching feet in the morning particularly if they neglect their feet. Feet need a little care and pampering. Treat them nice and rest them a bit if you want to avoid hurting feet when you wake in the morning.
