Silverchair - Ana's Song
Please die, Ana
For as long as you're here we're not
You make the sound of laughter
and sharpened nails seem softer
And I need you now, somehow
And I need you now, somehow
Open fire
On my needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire
On my knees desires
What I need from you
Imagine pageant
In my head the flesh seems thicker
Sandpaper tears corrode the film
And I need you now, somehow
And I need you now, somehow
Open fire
On my needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire
On my knees desires
What I need from you
And you're my obsession
I love you to the bones
And Ana wrecks your life
Like an Anorexia life
Open fire
On the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire
On my knees desires
What I need from you
Open fire
On the needs designed
Open fire
On my knees desires
On my knees for you

Alanis Morissette - Mary Jane
What's the matter Mary Jane, you had a hard day
As you place the don't disturb sign on the door
You lost your place in line again, what a pity
You never seem to want to dance anymore
It's a long way down
On this roller coaster
The last chance streetcar
Went off the track
And you're on it
I hear you're counting sheep again Mary Jane
What's the point of trying to dream anymore
I hear you're losing weight again Mary Jane
Do you ever wonder who you're losing it for
Well it's full speed baby
In the wrong direction
There's a few more bruises
If that's the way
You insist on heading
Please be honest Mary Jane
Are you happy
Please don't censor your tears
You're the sweet crusader
And you're on your way
You're the last great innocent
And that's why I love you
So take this moment Mary Jane and be selfish
Worry not about the cars that go by
All that matters Mary Jane is your freedom
Keep warm my dear, keep dry
Tell me
Tell me
What's the matter Mary Jane

Manic Street Preachers - 4st 7lb
Spoken: "I eat too much to live and not enough to stay alive. I'm just sitting in the middle, waiting."
Days since I last pissed
Cheeks sunken and despaired
So gorgeous sunk to six stone
Lose my only remaining home
See my third rib appear
A week later all my flesh disappear
Stretching taut, cling-film on bone
I'm getting better
Karen says I've reached my target weight
Kate and Emma and Kristin know it's fake
Problem is diet's not a big enough word
I wanna be so skinny that I rot from view
I want to walk in the snow
And not leave a footprint
I want to walk in the snow
And not soil its purity
Stomach collapsed at five
Lift up my skirt my sex is gone
Naked and lovely and 5st. 2
May I bud and never flower
My vision's getting blurred
But I can see my ribs and I feel fine
My hands are trembling stalks
And I can feel my breasts are sinking
Mother tries to choke me with roast beef
And sits savouring her sole Ryvitta
That's the way you're built my father said
But I can change, my cocoon shedding
I want to walk in the snow
And not leave a footprint
I want to walk in the snow
And not soil its purity
Kate and Kristin and Kit Kat
All things I like looking at
Too weak to fuss, too weak to die
Choice is skeletal in everybody's life
I choose, my choice, I starve to frenzy
Hunger soon passes and sickness soon tires
Legs bend, stockinged I am Twiggy
And I don't mind the horror that surrounds me
Self-worth scatters, self esteem's a bore
I long since moved to a higher plateau
This discipline's so rare so please applaud
Just look at the fat scum who pamper me so
Yeah 4st. 7, an epilogue of youth
Such beautiful dignity in self-abuse
I've finally come to understand life
Through staring blankly at my navel.

Filter - Skinny
So here you are in your small little world
Kept up like a little precious virgin girl
To hear 'bout your grace and your silly face
Wrapped up like a knot in a ball of shoelace
And every time I talk to you
It sounds like you're caught in a psychological flu
Don't ever let them see you cheat
Don't Ever let them see you bleed
Don't Ever let them shake your hand
Don't ever let them believe that scam
Skinny
And it will make you cry
Skinny
And it will make you lie
Skinny
And if it makes you soft inside
Skinny
At least you will not die
And if you take a good look at them
All caught up in their graciousless win
Every sin is their seamless smile
Will go on for a countless while
And just because they think they won
It just means that the shit has just begun
Don't ever let them see you cheat
Don't ever let them see you beat
Don't ever let them shake your hand
Don't ever let them believe that scam
Skinny
And it will make you cry
Skinny
And it will make you lie
Skinny
And if it makes you soft inside
Skinny
At least you will not die
Yeah, skinny, skinny, huh

Saves the Day - Cars and Calories
Her life was magazines
And faithful TV screens
Selling an empty dream
Of cars and calories
Everything in between
The sun and Saturn's ring
The price tag can't be seen
And it took bites
Out of her insides
'Till she was just a hollow shell
Grew up in east LA
Watching celebrities
Living out all of her dreams.
The plastic canopy
Of US royalty
Drew her gaze towards the sky
Away from her own mind
And it took bites
Out of her insides
'Till she was just a hollow shell
And at her home her mother cried
Cause daddy had something on the side
They didn't look up when she sighed
When August came around
Bathing suits on the ground
Replaced by a cotton cloak
To see her own reflection
Was like squinting in the sun
And when all tomorrow brings
Is a set of broken wings
Well it takes bites
Out of your insides,
'Till you are just a hollow shell
And it took bites
Out of her insides
'Till she was just a hollow shell

Lauren on December 20, 2011:
Ayria-"Girl on the Floor"
Mirror mirror, on the wall
I'm just someone with no self control
You don't know the real me,
but you get a glimpse so you paint a picture
So vivid, but just so wrong
This little girl is broken this time
I've seen things no one should ever have to see
I paint a smile on to tell the world I'm doing fine While everything I've known flies out the window
(Chorus:) I just want to leave this situation
I don't want to reach this destination
Can't you see I've lost the motivation
I want to leave this situation
Mirror mirror, on the wall
You see a girl with no self control
You ask what I want, it's complicated
The truth is, I don't know
I guess it's not enough to be there sometimes
But I've been dealt a hand no one should ever have to play
I guess I've really messed up this time
I'm too tired to fake the strength behind this lie
CHORUS
And now I sit here, all alone and bored
My head is filled with advice I once ignored
That all you get from this moment,
is all you gave to your past
And all you'll get from this moment,
is what you gave to your past
I'm turning to the next thing
I laugh just for this moment
I'm crying on the bathroom floor
'cause nothing is the same
Turning to the next one
Then we're laughing for the moment
I'm crying on the bathroom floor
I can not regain strength
CHORUS
And now I sit here,
all alone and bored
My head is filled with advice I once ignored:
That all you get from this moment,
is all you gave to your past
And all you'll get from this moment,
is what you gave to your past

Piece of Glass - Caedmon's Call
SO GOOD.
I have spent hours standing in front of the mirror obsessing about my weight and body image - this song describes exactly that and those awful, endless thoughts that race through my head.
Who are you that lies when you stare at my face?
Telling me that I’m just a trace of the person I once was
Cause I just can't tell if you're telling the truth or a lie
On you I just can't rely
After all you're just a piece of glass

'Where Good Girls Go To Die' by London After Midnight
Step into this picture
release all your light
I think God has gone mad... here tonight
You can't believe your eyes,
control is so hard to keep
obsession can be hell
from which you'll never be free
It's all for the taking, here tonight
Where good girls go to die
that's where I'll be
Waiting for my love with my heart on my sleeve
Forget about the future
forget about the past.
My heart beats so,
my hands are cold
please God make this moment last
You seek to fill me
with virtues I lack
I'll turn your pure white wings to pure black.
You've pushed too far and now
you've lost control can't you see?
You thought you were the master
but you're down on your knees.
It's all for the taking, here tonight
Where good girls go to die
that's where I'll be,
remembering our love as if it were a disease.
Forget about the future
it wasn't meant to last
My heart beats slow my hands are cold
Oh God it's the end at last.

I have a song by a South African artist.. It is dubstep but the lyrics are amazing! Its called :" feed me" by Tasha Baxter
The lyrics:
Do you ever get the feeling, that you think you're gonna die?
When your hearts imminent beating, makes you wanna cry.
When you feel you can't go on, with this somber life,
Every time you get close to the top, you fall.
Makes you wanna cry..
Do you ever get the feeling that you think your gonna die,
When your hearts imminent beating, makes you wanna cry.
Do you ever feel that sinking, in your stomach to the floor,
When your hands won't stop the shaking
And you can't take anymore ,
Can't take anymore.
When your hearts imminent beating,
With your stomach to the floor
And you can't take anymore.
When everythung you've lived for, just walked out the door.
Every time you get close to the top, you fall
Crashing down from the sky.
LOVE IT :)

Do you realise what an open university Hubpages is? Some of us never knew there was such heartfelt poetry in song written on this theme.
Anonymouse on October 05, 2011:
Not strictly about ED, but you can decide if the lyrics mean something to you.. Something a bit different;
Mirror mirror - Robots in disguise
Selfish - Keith caputo (Quite a hard track to get these days, but can be found on youtube or spotify)
Supernova - Fear Factory
Move this mountain - Sophie ellis bextor (I find this song inspirational. I consider the 'mountain' to be weight.)
Pagan Poetry - Bjork
Teen angst - m83 (Beautiful, and long enough to take your mind off temptation)
Today has been ok - Emiliana torrini (I listen to this when I'm feeling low.. and we all have those moments right?)
Nothing is ever finished - Fink (Again beautiful song, strikes a chord with me, and it helps)
I also like instrumental songs, they make me sit and think, thinking can while away times of temptation, and jog your memory, remind you why you keep on keeping on...
Peace x

Okay so i read though all of the songs in hopes to find out who song this song that has been suck in my head, the song was pulled off of youtube i'm not sure why. They were written by someone who was recovering there is a cd out. I don't know the name of the singer or where to find the songs, i forget the second song by the one i know is called dear friend and no it's not by that girl your thinking not by stacie here are the lyrics
"Dear friend I’ve come for you again
You know but with me this wont end
I love to see you hate yourself
And everybody else
I’m all that you’ve got
I want you to feel guilt
And never let it go
To see you lie your way through life
I want you to feel low
And when you try to leave
I will make you insecure
And I will make sure everybody knows
How messed you are
I wanna be the first thing
You wake to everyday
And be the last
To tuck you in
And watch you go insane
I’ll never let you be
I’ll watch you when you sleep
I’ll be there when you screaming for me
Help you to forget
You make me
You make me confused
Or even manically depressed
And when you think you’ve lost it all
Il take a little more
All I can get
I want to be mad
And hate this very world
And blame it for the way you are
And all you could have been
I cannot say enough
About your loyalty
And all the friends and family
You traded all for me
Everybody knows
You will never ever leave me
Come and take my hand
You can depend on
Depend on me
I wanna be the first thing
You wake to everyday
And be the last
To tuck you in
And watch you go insane
I’ll never let you be
I’ll watch you when you sleep
I’ll be there when you screaming for me
Help you to forget"

I'll Never Tell - the Glass Child
It’s quiet now
Broken glass and pieces of me on the floor
I hear you now, please don’t be angry anymore,
starring at that door
I wear you on my skin
Open wounds form every fight, no one can win
You made me doubt my worthiness, believed your sin
Murder from within
Don’t leave me now
Don’t leave me fallen here to drown
Who am I now?
Can’t you see you’re all I’ve got
I take your fists, if you take me too
Secret hidden well
and I will never tell
Don’t leave me now
My body’s broken now my heart is too
I’m running now
Counting every breath I take,
you’re right behind
Breathing down my neck, what will you do this time?
And will I survive..?
Then you’re slowing down
Say, I don’t deserve this but now I can’t do without
Boy, you can use violence, I will hurt for you
Please just kill this silence,
if I only knew
Loneliness is worth than being killed by you
Don’t leave me now
Don’t leave me fallen here to drown
Who am I now?
Can’t you see you’re all I’ve got
I take your fists, if you take me too
Secret hidden well
and I will never tell
Don’t leave me now
My body’s broken now my heart is too
I’ll take your fists, if you take me too
Secret hidden well and I will never tell
I’m counting every berate I take
Don’t leave me now
Don’t leave me fallen here to drown
Who am I now?
Can’t you see you’re all I’ve got
I take your fists, if you take me too
Secret hidden well
and I will never tell
Don’t leave me now

Hi, I wonder if anyone could help me however I know this thread is really old.
There was once a song I knew from myspace and I am sure it was called 'a.n.a is in my d.n.a' - I think? And it was a female artist!
It went along the lines of;
You gave me ana and said that i'd love her,
red elastic around my wrist all day;
Watch out she comes round,
painting up my town
- A.N.A is in my D.N.A
I'm looking for this song, but cannot remember the artist & no amount of googling is bringing anything more to light!
If someone recognises this/knows the artist please let me know asap!

Feeling so easy, make me skin and bones, and I'm always on my kees for you, break like it's even, when you're leaving it. THIN, where the hell have you been? Oh sometimes it burns, maybe I'll wash it out. It all looks so big, nevermind, I don't feel anything. It only hurt a bit, and I still feel like shit, and I think you won't be able to recognize me now. It's easier to quit, it's harder to admit. And you're pushing me, you're fucking pushing me. Feeling so easy, make me skin and bones. I'm always on my knees for you break me like it's even, when you're leaving it. THIN. Where the hell have you been? 'Cause you always win. You always win. Lauging like it works, bleeding like it don't hurt. Knock you off your feet, even if you need me, tear you apart and I hate how I need you. Feeling so easy, make me skin and bones, and I'm always on my kees for you, break like it's even, when you're leaving it. Too fucking easy, make me skin and bones, and I'm always on my kees for you, break me like it's even, when you're leaving it. THIN. Where the hell have you been? 'Cause you always win. Great list. If I had to add just one song to the playlist, it would be Rhett Akin's version of "Driving My Life Away". Some other themed songs to consider might be "The Road Goes on Forever" by Robert Earl Keen; "One Headlight" by the Wallflowers; "Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots; "Fast as You" by Dwight Yoakum; and perhaps even "Roam" by the B-52s.

Wow, what a great list. Most of the ones I was going to mention have already been named, this thread has been going a while, lol! The only one I can think of that i didn't see is 90210 by Wale..."And she throws up whatever she eats She leave the bathroom wit a nose bleed. Regular girl, celebrity dreams. She is...90210."
Miss B on September 09, 2010:
Here's a good one that I don't see up here: "Save Me" by Jem. It reflects the ED thoughts that often seem uncontrollable, and the attempts to control them. I think many of you might relate to this, no matter what your ED.

i always luvd that song so somber with a beautiful piano tune, but wasn't til i watched their film clip of it that made me undertsand it more and realise why i related to it so much. beautiful song worth a listen
k8 on July 11, 2010:
i worry about the pro ana tone this has taken. i'm sure many of the artists who wrote the songs about eating disorders were not intending to promote disease but to show the suffering that they or someone else has endured. they would probably not like at all the public spread of their songs for the purpose of pro ana. i know it doesn't sit well with me, and i have an eating disorder. pro ana makes me angry and confused.

This is a wonderful hub! VERY helpful!
Now, hopefully someone can help me/answer my question:
A year or so ago I was looking up ED related songs and I found a website that listed some with the music videos. I found one that I LOVED and loved the video too. I told myself to write down the song title so I could download it later but, I forgot to write down the title or artist!!! :( I have tried finding the song and the website i got it from with no luck, so, I will try to explain the video:
It is a guy singing and there are bunch of different scenarios. He is on a truck that is similar to a semi but the whole trailer part is transparent. He sings through all of the scenarios and it plays out one that is like a girl in the gym working out. Also, in each of the scenes it says on the glass "The Perfect....". Like, on the working out one it says "The Perfect Body". Then at the end it is just him sitting in one and it says "The Perfect Life".
Does anyone know what music video/band/song I am talking about??
Thanks in advance!!

"shrink - the gathering"
"To feel this great urge
to hold and embrace you
I slowly dry out
I shrink and shrink
until I'm gone
nothing to make out of me
oh what the hell went wrong
my heart gets pulled out
into your direction
it's no use
you have forsaken me"
i don't think is really about an ED but it always gets to me and besides, it's a beautiful song anyway
