Dukan Diet Recipes - Chicken and Poultry

The Dukan Diet was one of the most popular diet and lifestyle plans of 2010 and as it says on the cover "Five million French People can't be wrong".  With the North American launch in April it looks as if this populatarity will be continuing in 2011.

This Dukan Diet Recipes - Poultry hub is one of my five Dukan Diet Recipes hubs.

Dukan Diet Recipes is the capstone hub in which you will find all of the recipes listed.

The other hubs are

Dukan Diet Recipes - Meat

Dukan Diet Recipes - Fish and Seafood

Dukan Diet Recipes - Starters and Desserts

My personal preference as far as poultry is concerned is chicken so all the recipes I've listed are for chicken. The recipes of course can easily be adapted by just swapping the meat you are using. Some of the recipes could also be adapted for use with meat or fish and certain types of seafood.

Don't forget that goose and duck are not allowed in the first phases of the Dukan Diet and all skin should be removed before eating.

Remember boredom is the enemy of all dieters but hopefully the recipes I've provided will help just a little.

Tandoori Chicken with Green Beans

As a variation of the above recipe on the days when vegetables can be eaten follow the recipe above through theovernight marinade stage except instead of keeping the chicken breasts whole cut them into cubes.

Dry fry the chicken pieces in a frying pan and finish the dish by adding green beans.

Indian Chicken

This is another variation along a similiar theme except the marinade is slightly different.  You replace the lemon juice and spice mix with cinnamon, cayenne pepper, cloves, coriander seeds and chopped fresh mint.

After marinading dry fry 2 sliced onions, add the chicken pieces and marinade with a little water and simmer until cooked throughly.  If on a protein only day omit the onions.

Tasty Chicken Burgers

Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Plain fat free yoghurt to serve

Place the minced chicken in a bowl together with the coarsely grated onion and finely chopped garlic, add the salt, pepper and both herbs.

Mix until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Beat the eggs in another bowl and then add them to the other ingredients and stir the eggs into the mixture thoroughly.

Make your burgers by taking a handful of the mixture, roll it into a ball in the palm of your hand, and squash it flat to make a burger about 2cm thick.

Grill the burgers or fry in a non stick frying pan making sure that they are cooked all the way through and serve with plain yoghurt.

If you don't need to feed four people reduce the quantities of the ingredients or freeze the excess uncooked. Don't forget to defrost the burgers thoroughly before cooking.

Hi Sangeeta Sen

Dr Dukan has slightly relaxed his approach to using oil and you can now use one teaspoon of oil (rapeseed or olive)each day.

The great thing about the Dukan Diet is that all herbs and spices can be used without restriction and that small amounts of onion, garlic and tomato paste can also be used even on non vegetable days.

As Goat is very low in fat it is ideal for the Dukan Diet but there aren't a lot of recipes for goat as it isn't a very common meat in France where the Dukan Diet originates from.

Sangeeta Sen on February 15, 2012:

Thanks so much for the recipes.I have just started on the Dukan Diet. As a Hindu Indian I don't anything besides chicken or Mutton and our Indian recipes are almost always with a little bit of oil. If you have any Mutton ( Goat ) recipes, I would be happy to have. What I miss most is our spices and so am going to try to adapt the diet to our Indian taste.Would l;ove any suggestions on the same.

Hi Bella

Onions and garlic used in small quantities are considered as condiments rather than vegetables and can be used in the Attack Phase or on PP days in the Cruise Phase.

bella on February 13, 2012:

do the recipes containing onion and garlic count on the attack phase

Amber Allen (author) on November 16, 2011:

Hi cc

Thanks for commenting. Don't forget that you can add a little onion and garlic or some herbs and spices to your soup to zip it up a little!

cc on November 15, 2011:

Hi Larissa

Just check the ingredients listed for each recipe. The ones without any vegetables would be okay for the Attack Phase and the protein only days of the Cruise Phase. Thanks for reading my hub.

Larissa on January 12, 2011:

I was wondering if these recipes are all okay for the attack phase?
