The Race Against Time
How One Virus has Gripped an Entire Nation
Covid 19 has certainly changed the way that people live. 2020 was a race against time to find a vaccine to combat this illness. Is it too late?. A virus that has crippled us, caused so much hardship but yet we will get through it all.
As of January 2021 over 408,000 people have succumbed to death by this deadly virus. It still amazes me the amount of people who refuse to wear a mask.
Some speculations about the virus is germ warfare. Was the virus unleashed from a lab or did it truly come from a thumb size bat?
We will never know the real answer to those questions but what we do know is that this virus has many shapes and forms. Some people are dying, some have it with no symptoms and some have it with a little amount of symptoms.
Everyone is at war in the nation to try to combat this disease. Are we failures? We have only failed at doing the right thing. Wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance, don't touch your face and stay home. These things are simple.
How the Corona Virus Spread
- The virus that causes COVID-19 most commonly spreads between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet, or 2 arm lengths).
- It is an airborne virus like Tuberculosis that spreads by droplets. The droplets can be as far away as 6 feet and can stay in the air for hours. Especially in places that are not well ventilated
- The virus can be inhaled by the nose and mouth and the lungs. Airborne viruses are harder to control because everyone would have to follow airborne disease precautions but so many are refusing to wear a mask and eye coverings such as goggles or glasses.
- There is growing evidence that droplets and airborne particles can remain suspended in the air and be breathed in by others, and travel distances beyond 6 feet (for example, during choir practice, in restaurants, or in fitness classes). In general, indoor environments without good ventilation increase this risk. (CDC.Gov)

What Can We Do To Stop the Spread
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, everyone should:
Clean your hands often, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Put distance between yourself and other people (at least 6 feet).
Avoid indoor spaces that do not offer fresh air from the outdoors as much as possible.
If indoors, bring in fresh air by opening windows and doors, .Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces daily.
CDC recommends that people wear masks in public settings and when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
Masks may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.
Simple Steps To Stop The Spread
The Front Lines of Covid
Nurses and doctors everywhere are working around the clock and are exhausted from this virus. They are most of the time the last people that a patient sees before dying. They have faced timed with families to let them know their loved ones have passed away. A job that no one should be responsible for.
They tell you they are going to put you on a ventilator to give your lungs a rest and you never wake up again. I can't even imagine how they feel. I can't even imagine how exhausted they are.
I can't imagine dying and being alone with a stranger who has tried to help get me through this.
The saddest day to me when people whos bodies were not claimed were buried on Heart Island because there was no where else to put them.
Refrigerated trucks paving hospital streets because there is no where else to store them.
They are trying to save lives but it has failed 408,000 times. Its not their fault that people are dying. We have all had a responsibility during this pandemic to help control it as well as stopping the spread of it.
I don't feel that the country was shut down long enough. I feel that people who refuse to wear masks should not be allowed in any public places. I also feel that the United States was failed because the borders should have been shut down for everything coming and going from the minute we knew it existed. No one in the United States or any other country needed to die from this.
Pleas Do Your Part
Please Help To Get It Under Control
This virus shows no mercy to anyone person no matter how rich or poor you are. So many have died that didn't need to.
Do your part by wearing a mask wherever you go. No its not comfortable but it can save your life and the life of someone else. It doesn't take a scientist to explain how deadly this virus is. We know how deadly it is.
Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with great friction. Washing your hands is the most simple thing you can do to help stop the spread.
Stay home unless you have to go out. Why take the chance if its not needed? Please stay home.
My final thoughts are this: we are a resilient nation that has combated so many illnesses. If the vaccine becomes available to you, take it. Its better then the alternative.
Think before you go. Do I need to go there? If you don't need anything stay home. The only way we are going to stop the spread is to stay home. If you really have to go out then please wear a mask. It is the simplest thing you can do and its very selfish of you if you refuse to where it. Stay safe and healthy.
