Best Fruit Oils to Help the Body Detoxify

Every day our bodies are bombarded with a host of internal and external toxins. To win the war, our gastrointestinal organs must function optimally. We know that 80 % of our immune system is in our digestive tract. The cleaner the tract (and waste elimination organs), the better our overall health, and the easier we can fight off diseases.

Many health professionals recommend that we detoxify our bodies at least twice a year. Though there are several expensive products and programs on the market to help us, we can cleanse our systems without them. Avocado, coconut, and olive oils are three of the best fruit oils we can use for internal detoxification. They are gentle, flavorful, and provide many of the nutrients our bodies need.

The fleshy mesocarp of the avocado fruit might be known to you as the Mexican dip guacamole. It is also used to make avocado oil. Avocado berry –yes, berry- was discovered in the United States (U.S.) in the 1800s and now grows in Hawaii, Florida, and California. There are about 80 different varieties.

Avocado is rich in monounsaturated fats (MUFAs), lutein, carotenoids, oleic acid, vitamin E, and phytosterols, all of which help to lower the inflammation responsible for such chronic diseases as heart disease, Alzheimer’s, cancer, and premature aging.

The fruit also contains dietary fiber, vitamins A, B-6 (pyridoxine), B-9 (folate), C, D, and K, and minerals magnesium and potassium.

Avocado oil has a high flash point of 520 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the critical point before it oxides into unstable compounds, which form dangerous free radicals that damage our cells, including the collagen we need for soft, supple skin and well-functioning joints.

According to an article from the website, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study, which showed that excess carbohydrates and sugars from overconsumption, are stored in our stomachs as belly fat after the muscles have used what they need for energy. Avocado oil reduces this fat before it could initiate the chronic diseases mentioned. The oil also protects our liver, which plays a vital role in providing energy and eliminating waste from the body.

So, how do we detoxify with avocado oil? Use it daily in our meal preparation. It has a light and enjoyable flavor. So, it works for breakfast, lunch, and/ or dinner. Sprinkle it on salads or vegetables. Use it when baking, marinating, sautéing, or frying.

Considering what we see in the supermarket, we might assume that coconut is a nut; and we do call it ‘coconut.’ However, it is a fruit, a single-seed drupe. The brown endocarp we see encloses the seed, which is used to make the coconut oil. In the U.S. coconut grows mainly in Hawaii and Florida. There are at least 80 varieties of tall and dwarf plants.

Coconut has high levels of antioxidants, medium-chain fatty acids, capric acid, lauric acid, dietary fiber, vitamins B-1 (thiamine), B-2 (riboflavin), B-3 (niacin), and B-9, minerals calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, and zinc.

Many of these nutrients are maintained in the oil. So, it can lower cholesterol and blood sugar (thus lowering the risk of diabetes), prevent excessive growth of Candida yeast, bacterial, fungal, and viral infections, rid our gastrointestinal system and organs (liver and gall bladder) of toxins, help us maintain a healthy immune system and thyroid gland, keep our skin free of psoriasis, eczema, and acne, and provide us energy.

Unlike avocado oil, there are specific coconut oil internal detoxification recipes. The website recommends ingesting two tablespoons every few hours in combination with other natural cleansing diets, as well as drinking lemonade with rock salt throughout the day to maintain the necessary electrolyte level.

The website suggests starting with half a teaspoon of coconut oil thirty minutes before breakfast, increasing the dosage to one to two teaspoons before your three daily meals, and eventually replacing those meals for three to five days with the oil. This article also states that you should ingest a total of 14 tablespoons per day, drink eight to twelve glasses of water, eat a healthy diet free of sugars and carbohydrates, ingest fewer meats, and minimize physical activity while cleansing. Raw, organic extra virgin coconut oil is best.

Olives and olive oil are fairly common foods. In the U.S. the olive drupe grows in California. It must be cured before consumption. A number of techniques are used for this process. There are at least 264 different varieties of olives.

The olive fruit is rich in polyphenols, oleic acid (a good MUFA), fiber, vitamin E, and minerals iron and copper. Olive oil maintains high levels of the first two nutrients. Research indicates that olive oil reduces the risk of chronic diseases, rids our cells of free radicals, and prevents inflammation. It also flushes the dangerous toxins, excess fat, and other garbage from the liver and gall bladder, the primary organs responsible for eliminating waste from our body.

Detoxifying with Olive Oil

Some recommend we take two tablespoons of olive oil daily with a healthy diet. Others suggest taking two tablespoons of olive oil daily by simply drizzling it on our vegetables and other meals or by using it as a dipping oil for bread. Of course, you can use it as an ingredient in any meal preparation. It has a light, fragrant taste. The purest extra virgin olive oil is best.
