Bad News With Covid-19

As the world governments attempt to contain and eliminate this Covid-19 virus, like a script written for a dark, Sci-fi, movie, the virus mutates and changes the rules of the game as time goes on. World governments find themselves repeating the same protocols to contain it in hopes they can eradicate as they did with polio.

Even though the vaccines seem to be silver bullet, there remains real questions about how effective and how long this will last in person. There are questions about the two or more new mutated strains of the virus now shutting down England and South Africa and found in the USA. These new mutated versions could make the vaccines less effective or even useless.

But worse, it has been found that a person who gets the vaccine can still get the virus. In this case, it was a RN in San Diego, CA., who got the injection on Dec. 18, but six days later, the nurse felt chills and flu-like symptoms. They got retested for Covid and it came back positive! The reason is that even for two weeks after you get vaccinated, you are still vulnerable and NOT protected. After the first shot, you are about 40-50% protected, the second dose, weeks later, will boost this to 95%. Also, if you are infected with the virus before the vaccination, getting it does remove the virus. This brings a host questions about the vaccines. The nurse got a Pfizer vaccination, requiring two doses, maybe none of this would happen if they had got the Moderna, a single shot?

The news of vaccinations in the USA is pathetic. It has been estimated that vaccinating 300 million people by June 2021 will be impossible at the rate going now. Only two million have got vaccinations in two weeks from the 11 million doses shipped. By February, another 50-80 million doses are planned to be shipped. A variety of problems are causing delays and failure and if they are solved, at the current rate, it would take 10 years to vaccinate 80% of Americans!

However, there is some good news about thwarting the virus with OTC items. Several studies have found that by taking 50mg of Zinc, 3000 mg of Vitamin C, and 10mg of Melatonin, some people have a 30% less chance in testing positive for the virus. These studies seem to have a direct impact of your immune system in combating getting the virus. In one case, a study of 27,000, patients taking 10 mg of Melatonin a day reduced the Covid risk by 27%. The Chinese found out that by giving patients 3000 mg of Vitamin C daily, it helped some fight effects or prevented positive results. Vitamin D is also being looked at to help the immune system fight off the virus.

So, in the never ending saga, the year 2021 will bring more of the same confusion regarding this virus, which at times, seem contradictory. One step forward, one step back.
