I just turned 42. If I am to live to my 80s that means 40 more years in existence. I cannot even start to fathom how long that is. We have to stay healthy as long as possible to keep the quality of our life; living to your 80s is no fun and will bring only suffering if you are not in good health. So the goal is to live long, happy and healthy lives. Not simply to reach this or that age number.
I started wearing reading glasses. So I know the eyesight is the first one to go. And one by one, the other faculties will follow - mobility, energy, mental sharpness, hearing. Heck I have to be more vigilant with my teeth.
This made me appreciate more of what I still have and keep and enjoy them as long as possible. I can do something. You can do something. So let's talk about it.

Eating nuts adds 2 years to your life. Peanuts and walnuts are on the top of the list in taking care of our health. It is good for the brain and the heart.
Fruits are rich is life force because they come straight from nature and was quantified by studies to add 3 years to your life.Just grab a fruit and take a bite no sweat and you are adding years to your life. Better they are in season and produced locally or from your orchard or a fruit bearing tree you planted!
Berries is another superfood. Because of its deep color, it has the anthocyanins which are antidiabetic, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-obesity as well as prevention of cardiovascular disease.
Trust me it works magic. I had urinary tract infection (UTI) and I started drinking turmeric and never had another episode since 5 years. It has also saved us during the covid pandemic.
People who drink green can live 1 and a half years longer than people who don't.
Studies say it can add 15 healthy years. If that number doesnt convince you I dont know what will.
I stopped running since a few years ago because of the impact on the knees, ankles and joints. But walking is pleasant and enjoyable.
Another very good physical activity would be swimming. Least impact and damage on joints and use whole body. This adds 10 years to your life. It is very good for the lungs.
Studies show gardeners leave 13 years longer than their non-gardening counterparts. Another is walking barefoot. Hands and feet both getting contact with soil, with earth gives strength. Not to mention you will be out in the sun sweating. Don't you just feel immediately energized.
Reading 30minutes every days can add 2 years to your life. Well, they didnt mention if it is fiction or non-fiction. But fiction gets your imagination going and it is like traveling to another place, another time and the emotions and connection you feel with the characters. Certainly, that is quality of life increased.

A lot of people have called it quits in their 20s, 30's up to 60s and 70's. And we respect their decision.

Whatever it is, a hobby, an advocacy, a pet hold on to it. For me on a personal living at 40 it is my daughter. But it is not just that. I have personal goals and hobbies. I love stationery, art and literature. Spending time in nature is also something I enjoy.
My career and personal life has been derailed. But I believe in a spiritual guru and that gives me the mental shift and resolve to hang in here up to old age.
He said life is not our house, it is not our job. Life is something more spectacular and we witness it everyday. So I look up in the sky, and give thanks and trust in the blessing that will flow.

If you have a chronic disease or other ongoing health issues, you should see your doctor more often, no matter how old you are."
It doesnt mean you have to sum it up and the result would be your age. That would be ridiculously long. But life is a game of chances, of probabilities. Let's play our cards well.
