61 Ways To Be Happy

Many people are searching for happiness in their life. In my teenage years, I felt lost and didn't know what to do. I couldn't concentrate on my studies, and my life was a mess. I searched the internet, talked with different people, read countless books. Here are few ways that I found that could be helpful.

  1. Embrace change: Change is a part of life. Whether you like it or not, change will happen one way or another. You will meet new people, you will lose some people in your long life. You will have varied experiences, learn to embrace them, and learn from them instead of complaining about them.
  2. Associate with positive people: A lot of people are downers. They don't have any accomplishments of their own but, they will make sure others don't succeed in their life. Make sure you have people that improve, help you grow, and encourage you in your journey towards your self-discovery and development.
  3. Be motivated: It is easy to do unimportant things. Hard things are those that are necessary. For example, if you want to get into a good college, you need good marks. It is essential to study hard, maintain a schedule for this to reach your goal. It is not motivational in any sense. It is boring and a pain. But, you have to endure it to succeed.
  4. Do things you have passion for: If you are going to spend your time doing something, why not do things you enjoy? In this case, you won't need motivation for this as you will motivate yourself as you like it.
  5. Laugh more: It is an old saying, "Laughter is a good medicine". It reduces stress and releases endorphins, which are responsible for reducing pain. Also, a person who laughs is more inviting than a person who frowns, so laugh more!
  6. Set goals and try to achieve them: Plan is necessary for everything. It is like an objective in a game. It also shows your progress to the final objective.
  7. Get proper sleep: Get at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep. Sleeping makes sure your body rests for the work for tomorrow and you also recover your muscles after a workout.
  8. Do adequate exercise: Exercise helps build your body muscles and make them strong. It also helps develop your cardiovascular system. Many diseases happen because of a sedentary lifestyle and it can be prevented with adequate and proper exercise.
  9. Meditate: Meditation is a journey inside your mind. All you need to do is close your eyes and concentrate on breathing. Just doing this will help you increase concentration and control your wandering mind.
  10. Have things that make you happy: Certain things will make you happy. An example would be nostalgic things like from your childhood or souvenir. Have things that will give positive memories.
  11. Learn from mistakes: Life is long, you will make mistakes. It is not necessary to do all of them. Observe other people and you would avoid most of them. If you do it yourself, make a mental note and try to not repeat them.
  12. Learn to let go: Easier said than done. Nobody will ever understand what you went through. It is difficult to explain and comprehend. Having those thoughts repeatedly will not help. It will lead to mental rot. Certain things are better to be left in the past where they belong.
  13. Look at the big picture: In today's world of short attention span, it is almost impossible to look for the future. For short-sighted pleasure, we give up things that would have been important in the future for us and others. Before you make a decision, make sure you think ahead.
  14. Learn from experience: As you go through life, you will experience certain things. Some of it will be useful while others, not so much. Make sure to take the good parts of learning and discard the bad parts.
  15. Do act of kindness: This ensures you have peace of mind as you did a good thing. We feel good about ourselves when we do kind deeds. Take advantage of this.
