50 Ways to Bring on a Sunshine Smile

Linda (Kaywood) Bilyeu is a self-published author. Her books are available on Amazon. She writes from the heart—there is no other way.

A smile is a gift to others...

I'm a believer in "Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you". That was not a typo, it's what I believe strongly in, since the other way didn't work out too well for me.

So far, my way has worked out fine for all involved.

We all like to smile, need to smile and want to smile. But some days we just don't feel like it.

I've uncovered some easy ways to make someone else smile, hence the sunshine smile.

We all have good days and bad days. How we handle those bad days is our choice.

We could allow ourselves to sulk or pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and do a random act of kindness for someone.

The act could be no big deal to you, but it could change someone's day, week or possibly their year!

I acquired some help from my 7 yr old granddaughter Faith and her friends because they are who inspired this hub.

I also appreciate the wonderful additional ways from my favorite shiner's Chris, Jill, Michelle, Ida, Dave, Carissa, Jon, David and Aileen. You all rock!

Please feel free to add your wonderful ways to share kindness to others in order to create a sunshine smile. Shine on!

Turn that frown upside down...

Hi Tills, Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your story with us! I bet you made that managers week or possibly his month with your words of gratitude. Well done! BTW my good friend is celiac and she tells me it's just no fun. I appreciate your comment!:)

Linda Bilyeu (author) from Orlando, FL on July 10, 2012:

Hi Janine, I believe you have brought on many sunshine smiles. Thank you for sharing and caring enough to makes others smile also :)

Mary Craig from New York on July 10, 2012:

Oh gracious Queen, your list surpasses yet again!

In line with #47...I am a celiac and have trouble finding good places to eat. While visiting my daughter she took me to a hibachi restaurant that serves gluten free food. Not only did they serve it but with a smile and complete consideration...the cook was fantastic asking me before each addition if it was ok for me to eat. When we were leaving I went to the manager and told him it was the best meal I'd had in seven years and the best service. I told him I couldn't praise this place enough. He thanked me and I started to leave. As I did, I heard him say to a gentleman standing next to him, "Boy that was nice. All we ever hear are complaints, never something nice like that!"

Okay, I know, I'm long winded.

Voted this up, useful, funny and beautiful.

Janine Huldie from New York, New York on July 10, 2012:

Linda, just saw this hub and loved seeing the pic of your adorable granddaughter. Also loved this hub on ways to put a smile on someone else's face. I am a strong believer in trying to make others smile, because I try to make sure I smile so much everyday. The old adage that it takes more muscles to frown then smile is true and totally believe that. Anyway, very much agree with you and am voting up and sharing too.

Linda Bilyeu (author) from Orlando, FL on June 06, 2012:

Hi Alocsin! I considered reversing the photo, but I don't want to see Faith's sad face as often as her smiling face:)

Aurelio Locsin from Orange County, CA on March 27, 2012:

Great tips as usual but perhaps the pics of your granddaughter should be reversed? You want everyone to know that you made her smile with your efforts. I like giving and receiving 35. Voting this Up and Useful.
