1. They're Well Connected
If you really want to build a life that people have interest in, it definitely helps to know people. In addition to their father, Robert Kardashian, being a lawyer on the infamous OJ Simpson trial, the Kardashian family has long since had ties within the celebrity community. Kim Kardashian went to school with hotel heiress Paris Hilton, and has been friends with MTV show Lala for years as well.
Lala was even featured on the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians as she gave Kim a shoulder to lean on during her divorce from Kris Humphries. Even if you're an introvert, you have to find a way to get in with the right crowd. Without the proper connections, you can't push your name or your brand forward.
2. They Owned a Small Boutique
Believe it or not, the Kardashian sisters have actually worked quite hard to get to where they are! Before the start of the show they ran two small stores called Dash and Smooch, where the sisters themselves handled customers, maintained the store, and executed inventory purchases.
As noted by Khloe Kardashian in Keeping Up with the Kardashians, these stores took years to turn a profit! It wasn't until the start of Keeping Up with the Kardashians that the store was finally given the attention needed to become nationally known. Since then Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall, and Kylie have all branched out to work on their own endeavors.
3. They Never Turned Down Potential Jobs
While at the boutique and filming the early years of the KUWTK TV series, the sisters rarely passed up an opportunity to gain more spotlight. During the show, Kim did several live appearances such as performing with the Pussycat Dolls at an event in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also did a photo shoot as the cover model for the widely known Playboy Magazine created by Hugh Hefner.
At this time, Kim Kardashian and Hefner met up to discuss the shoot and he even offered to make her an honorary Playboy bunny. Needless to say, she declined that proposal and eventually moved onto bigger and better things.
This is one of those situations in which it is okay to turn down work! Whatever you do you should continue to help you grow and achieve your goals. The Playboy bunny career is simply a dead end, and Kim was smart enough to keep it moving on this particular occasion.
4. They Make Social Media Work for Them
If you're just using Instagram and Twitter for fun or for your friends, that's great and all, but there is a much better use for these apps! Every single time one of these ladies launches a new project, they give out hints a few days to a week beforehand. How do you think they're able to sell out so quickly?
Kourtney Kardashian just launched her new Poosh line, while Kylie is a dropping a whole new skincare brand. So use social media as free advertising and get your name out there.
5. They Capitalize on Everything
The truth is, your haters really are your biggest motivators. Just like Beyonce' was able to make money off of the police attempting to boycott her with Boycott Beyonce' gear, the Kardashian sisters have managed to do the same.
Khloe Kardashian is a prime example of how to deal with doubters and those who speak ill of you. When people were trashing her appearance and making comments about her weight, she got a trainer and worked her body into fit form. Now, she's got her very popular Good American line, an all inclusive clothing brand made especially for the curvier ladies.
When Kylie Jenner received backlash about her lips, what did she do? She launched a lip kit line and monetized off of the ridicule. Never underestimate what word of mouth can do for your business, even if it's not always positive.
