If you can't get to the gym and you want to get fit or healthy then there are other ways to achieve this. YouTube has many different creators who have a background in fitness and they put up workout for newbies or experienced fitness experts.
YouTube will also offer any user a vast array of workouts for different levels of fitness that allows you to attempt many different types of workouts in your own home.
If you aren't able to get to the gym or you can't afford the yearly gym membership fee then doing home workouts are the next best alternative.
When choosing a workout channel to follow on YouTube, you are going to want to find one where you like the range of workouts that they offer as well as the presenters who are doing the workouts.
If you are doing a workout at home then you want to be able to understand the instructions that the presenter is giving you. Some of these channels will have music playing in the background and this can be something that people either love or hate to hear when they are completing a work out.
There is no point picking an exercise channel on YouTube to follow if you don’t like the workouts that they offer or if you hate the format that they are using. You need to find a channel that has exercise routines that you can attempt as well as one that suits your current lifestyle.

Here are five channels on YouTube that offer different types of workouts for different fitness levels.

How to Choose an Exercise Channel to Follow on YouTube
When you begin looking for an exercise workout on YouTube, there will be many channels that offer different types of workouts.
Starting a YouTube Workout
- Type in the search bar at the top of YouTube the actual type of exercise that you want to attempt.
- Start searching for a low impact exercise routine as these are usually good for beginners. The workout will be tough but it will be one that you will be able to complete from beginning to end.
- Low impact workouts are good for someone who is new to at home workouts as it is usually an easier workout that you can complete on your first attempt. It also means that you most likely won’t have to do any jumping jacks, burpees or mountain climbers.
- The only additional equipment that the instructor might ask you to have for this workout could be a set of dumbbells.
- When completing a workout always have a bottle of water next to you.

Which Type of Workout Should I Do
There are so many different types of workouts and each workout will help you lose weight but in a different manner.
- If you want to loose weight then cardio workouts or strength training workouts are good options.
- If you love cardio workouts but you hate jumping jacks and mountain climbers then you need to look for low impact cardio workouts. They deliver similar results but without all the jumping around.
- If you want to tone up muscle in your body then body strengthening is a workout designed to help you tone up in this area. Barre workouts are very good in delivering results in this area.
1. Jessica Smith TV
Jessica Smith has been on YouTube since 2009. She has 445 workout videos on her channel. She is an expert in her field and has 20 years’ experience in this industry so you can trust what she is saying.
Each of her workouts is also overseen by her French bulldog, Peanut who is always on set during them and most often he ends up sleeping through the whole routine. She also sells DVD on Amazon of different types of workouts that she has released over the years.
She has a range of workouts on her channel that range in length from eight minutes to sixty minutes. So you can fit a workout in around your tight schedule. The workouts that she offers on her channel all differ in style and technique.
She does yoga workouts, barre workouts, fat burning workouts, cardio workouts, barefoot fusion workouts, strengthening workout as well as 1 mile upper or lower body workouts. These are just some of the selection of workouts that she offers viewers on her channel but there are many more besides these to choose from.
She doesn’t up load as many videos now compared to what she used to but the ones on her channel are still relevant and worth a look.

2. Athlean-XX for Woman
Athlean-XX for woman has had a channel on YouTube since 2011 and they have 863 videos on their channel. There workouts are geared towards women who want to work out in the privacy of their own home.
They also offer a channel that is geared toward men. The creator of these channels is Jeff Cavaliere who is a former New Yorks Mets Head Physical Therapist and Assistant Strength Coach.
This channel offers short as well as long workouts and many of their workouts will vary in intensity so you should be able to find a workout that suits your needs.
If you are just a beginner to the workouts at home scene, then try to start with their shorter workouts before you even attempt their longer ones.
Again just like Jessica Smith TV, they offer different workouts targeted towards different areas in your body as well as HIIT cardio workouts and no equipment workouts.
Most of the presenters on here are extremely fit and toned and very dedicated to looking after their bodies. The channel is great but be aware that some of their workouts are not going to be easy.
3. Fitness Blender
Fitness Blender was created by husband and wife team Kelli and Daniel Segars back in 2010 and they have 891 videos on their YouTube channel. Both of them have a background in the fitness industry and they created the channel to provide people with free fitness advice.
They offer a wide range of workouts that are either targeted towards a full body workout or body challenges. They also offer barre workout routines as well as strengthening and toning workouts.
Some of their workout routines can be very short while others can be very long. The longest workout I found took an hour and a half to complete. But they also have other workout routines that come in at under ten minutes.
At the start of each of their workouts they give the structure of the workout which outlines what you are expected to do during the workout. The also advice the viewer on whether they will need additional equipment to complete this workout.
Both of these presenters are very likable and both of them are very good at keeping you invested in completing the workout routine.
They usually upload videos on their channel once or twice a month now since they have so many videos on there.
4. Body Project
Body Project has had a channel on YouTube since 2012 and it is created by husband and wife duo Alexandra and Daniel Bartlett. Kirsten Orchard is another team member that is a qualified yoga instructor with years of experience in this industry. Alexandra and Daniel have many years of experience in the fitness industry and they have worked in their own gym.
They have 44 videos on their YouTube channel and their workouts revolve around HIIT cardio, resistance training, pilates and yoga. Some of the workouts have seated as well as low impact cardio workout routines. Their workout routines times vary from between thirty minutes to sixty minutes.
Daniel is very good at trying to push you to complete the workout and each workout has a timer as well a bar at the bottom of the screen that shows you how much time you have left to complete that exercise in your workout routine.
Sometimes they have a participant in their workout video that is at a different level of fitness compared to them. The aim is for you too choose the person you most identify with as having the same fitness level as you. Their workout routines varies slightly to what Daniel does.
They upload videos every few weeks but the ones already posted are a good place to start.
Your body can stand almost anything. It’s your mind that you have to convince.
5. Tracy Campoli
Tracy Campoli has been on YouTube since 2010. She has 447 videos on her channel that offers both fitness and lifestyle advice. She is such an upbeat person that is great at giving directions when completing an exercise routine.
Since her channel is also geared toward lifestyle advice as well as fitness, you are better off going to the playlist section to find an exercise workout to complete.
Her workout routines vary in length and in intensity ranging from full body workouts to body challenges as well exercises designed to target a specific area in your body that you want to change.
She uploads videos every few days to her channel and she usually uploads a workout routine two or three times a month to her channel.
She has such a positive outlook and she offers good advice in a range of areas.
Most people should be able to find a workout routine on one of these channels that they like.
If you are a beginners to the at home workouts then start with Jessica Smith TV or Tracy Campoli. Once you feel that your fitness level has improved, then you can advance to any of the other routines with Body Project, Fitness Blender and Athlean-XX for Woman.
Remember to start with workouts that are low impact cardio as these most often only require you to complete a workout either by standing up or lying down.
HIIT and high impact cardio usually requires a lot more movement and can include burpees, jumping jacks and mountain climbers.
You can create your own playlist by saving different workout routines from different channels to it. Then you can access it on your cellphone at anytime from anywhere as long as there is an internet connection.

I recognize one of the channels you've mentioned, Body Project. I love this channel. Daniel and his wife, Alex are the best workout buddies. I remember when I started working out at home, I was looking for something easy to start, and I came across their channel. I have followed their exercise routine religiously for the past four years.
