3 Best Detox Water for Weight Loss

The word "Detox" means the removal of toxins. Detox water works the same way. It removes toxins from your body promoting good health.


It is a well-known fact that water helps in weight loss and many other benefits to the body. Every doctor/dietician recommends that drinking an adequate amount of water per day (as per your body weight) helps to prevent lots of health issues, keeps your body hydrated, and also results in weight loss. If you add some ingredients from your kitchen in the water, you can get a lot more benefits and might even find it tasty.

Any diet plan you see always starts with a morning drink and the most beneficial and effective morning drink recommended by everyone is warm lemon water with honey. I always have this drink first thing in the morning and it helps a lot to speed up my weight loss and improve digestion. Whatever diet or exercise regime you follow, if your digestion is not proper, you will not lose weight and belly fat. Detox water helps keep your digestion healthy and proper ensuring weight loss and preventing many other health issues.

Before we discuss the recipe for detox water, let me tell you how to get maximum benefit. The effectiveness of detox water is increased if you follow a proper and healthy diet along with exercise. You can achieve maximum benefits only if you combine all these three things. Detox water helps by increasing your liquid intake and flushing out toxins from your body.

Things to Keep in Mind While Preparing Detox Water

  • Detox water is always made with water which is at room temperature (not hot or cold)
  • To make detox water, you will need to leave the ingredients in water for at least 2-3 hours before consumption. Therefore, to prevent any reaction, always make and store the water in a glass jar or bottle.
  • Never store the water for more than a day. Prepare fresh water with fresh ingredients every day. The best way is to prepare the detox water in the morning and consume the entire water of the jar/bottle by evening.
  • Store the water only at room temperature and not in the fridge.

Recipe 1: Chia Seeds, Ginger and Lemon

To prepare this, take one tbsp chia seeds and soak them in half glass of water for 20-30 minutes. Mix it well otherwise the chia seeds will form into lumps. Now take a glass jar/bottle in which you want to make the detox drink and add 2-3 slices of lemon and 3-4 pieces of ginger. Remove the seeds from the lemon and properly peel and wash the ginger pieces before adding them to water. Now add the chia seeds mixture that you had prepared and then fill the bottle with water. Stir it well and leave the detox drink for at least 2-3 hours. Your drink is now ready to consume.

This drink is one of my favorite and the most effective detox recipe for weight loss. It is also known to reduce your cholesterol levels.

To prepare a fruit detox drink, you can add any fruit you like. It is best to use fruits rich in Vitamin C for best results. Add few slices of orange, kiwi, apple slices, and lemon slices. Add water and keep the drink aside for 2-3 hours. You can also add 8-10 mint leaves to make it more effective. This drink is very refreshing and you can use whichever fruit is available in the market as per your preference.

Recipe 3: Cumin Seeds Detox Drink

This detox drink can be prepared with only one ingredient and is equally effective in improving your digestion and speeding up the weight loss process. Add 2 tablespoons of cumin seeds in one-liter water and mix it well. Keep it aside for 2-3 hours and consume the drink along with the seeds. Cumin seeds increase your body heat so if you already face the problem of excessive body heat, please avoid this detox drink.


You can choose any detox water which suits your body or you can try each of these 3 recipes every week/month. Consume detox water daily along with proper diet and exercise and you will see amazing results in less than a month.
